^ 85 f/1.4 or 50 1.4. 85 f/1.4 has a much better bokeh. 50 f/1.4 is, well, cheaper, much cheaper than 85 f/1.4

hm.. so right now i really want to pick up the 17-55 2.8IS to replace my 18-55

but im about 150 short on getting it until next month.

but then i thought about since i do alot of sports photography, should i sell my 70-300 IS

and use the money from that + about another 600 or so and pick up a 70-200 2.8?

decisions decision....

I got a 50mm 1.8 for Christmas. I took a whole bunch of dinner shots as well as my parents friends NSX. I'll get around to posting when I get home but they look great from the cam lcd.

the b&h price can end at ANY time, my book says 15 Feb, but they have stopped them early before. At least you have about eight days to really do this, if they don't go out of stock.

It will make you feel really good

All of your friends are doing it

Come on, you don't want to be a loser do you

You know you want to

J/K, just giving the peer pressure treatment. Don't go into bankruptcy just because we want you to have this lens!!

"Hey Mizouse, take pictures of all your new room mates at the homeless shelter with your new lens" is not how this thread should end....

So you did it. I'll be right behind you later today giving b&h some of my money. I'm waiting for this guy who said he wanted to sell a 300mm 4L IS. IF he doesn't come through I'll be getting something else.

pardon my ignorance since I'm a photo newbie but I just have the kit lens with the XTi. how much of an improvement in picture quality would I potentially see with a lens like the 17-55 IS?

I'm on the fence about getting this lens. If I sell the 17-40 /f4 L, it would probably only cost me another $350 +/- to get it...

But after the "we need to slow down our spending" talk I had with the wife, I might lose a very important appendage if I go through with it.

Your kit lens is a pretty good lens in the right conditions. The 17-55 2.8 IS will allow you to take pictures in lower light situations.
