Official CS 5 launch event - 4/12
Just an FYI that Adobe will be running their official "launch event" for the Creative Suite 5 on Monday, April 12th. It looks like you may need to register in order to watch the webcast.

I'm currently building 3 kick-ass rigs for our advertising guys now so the timing on this release couldn't be better. I was just about to order CS4 Design Standard, Production Premium, and Design Premium, but now I'll hold off for a couple weeks for CS5.
By the way, Lenovo's S20 workstations are amazingly fast and incredibly quiet. We're replacing their Mac Pros with Windows 7 machines, but I really don't think they'll have anything to complain about. They're getting: quad core Xeon W3540 (i7-based) with 12GB of ECC RAM, SSD boot drive, RAID 0 Velociraptors for working storage, and 2TB RE3 RAID 1 project storage, and a Quadro FX 3800. I couldn't believe it, but the machines came to only $2500/ea. The Mac Pro equivalent priced out at just a hair under $40 million, each.

Keep in mind, this is just the announcement event. For all we know, they may be announcing that CS5 will be released in November.

Trust me, I'm going to be doing a very thorough evaluation of this gear before passing it on.
One thing I'm very curious of with CS5 is to see if Photoshop is any more multi-threaded than it was in CS4. Right now, CS4 is only optimized for two cores, and only for a few tasks. These guys do a lot of video editing too, so the cores will be used there, but I hope Photoshop can utilize them too.

That sounds about right, LR3 will go gold before CS5 is released.

I'm pretty sure they are, but from a marketing and get your money stand point. I don't see them releasing close together.

I read on facebook that CS4 was on the market a month after it was official announced.

At 1:18 it leaves a grey spot - and also at 1:30. This is a COMMON problem with the spot heal tool, where it clones the wrong thing and leaves a spot (and I'm on CS3). So, I don't see anything "new and improved" here. What good is that if you can't use it? (btw I just do this manually with the clone tool. Much more accurate and effective to be in total control. There are cases when the spot-heal works really well though, like when there is nothing near the area.)

yeah the panorama was nice. and the road too. but I would have to see it with my own eyes to make further judgment. the spots just annoyed me.

good lord you reply fast...i couldn't even edit my post w/o noticing you had already responded...
i was also gonna say that a sneak peek <> end result...but yes, definitely have to have the final judgement in person.

Content aware works pretty well.. you still need too spend some time on it though. It isn't as magical as ppl think it is, but definitely makes a difference as far as time spent on traditionally cloning.

It works way better for random things, like grass or things in nature. Trying it on, say, a parking lot or city doesn't work as well because it tries to clone cars or halves of people

^^-- yep and yep.
i couldn't get the ground (stark white w/ a few tire marks) to "content aware" without grabbing the car in most tries. takes some practice, but definitely not as easy as it looks.
