NYC Panoramas

I saw these on Pbase.com's forum and I thought they were amazing. Just thought I would share.

Very cool. I prefer the nighttime Manhattan skyline from the East Side though

Spent a few days in NYC, got back tonight. Kinda can't believe this but, the last time I visited there was 26 years ago... I was quite young, in the single digits.. Anyways, I tried a panoramic shot, it came out pretty crude - I did it manually, without photo-stitching software (would that be able to do it better? I've never used it before). But I thought it was post-worthy. So here it is, its 4280px wide. This is taken from just south of Central Park, looking to the north-west, and down to the south-east. You can see some of the buildings from the other panorama shots in this thread, such as the two identical silvery towers towards the right of the pic.

I need a wider-angle lens... :<

ps. NYC is stinkin' HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a bit too huge, I thought. Intimidating. Chicago suddenly feels like a small village... I'll have more pics soon.

^^That is some seriously gorgeous light, srika! Nice! I haven't used any stitching software, but I'm wondering if it would help with the section of sky off to the right?

from my personal experience no. the photo stitching software i used aided in lining up the pictures and corrected for distortion created by the way you took your panoramic photo.

but then again this was photo stitching software that came with my canon S110 back in 2001, so maybe the software has improved by now.

Works great!

Here's an HDR panoramic of my wife's RDX engine bay.
