I bought my D90 a couple years back from bhphotovideo for $1220, currently it's $1200 + free shipping on their site. The trade off for buying from them is you know you're buying from a reputable source but you aren't getting all those accessories for that price. Then again, I can't say much for the quality of the additional items that are included in the package on eBay, but for the price they are offering, I highly doubt those accessories are that great to begin with.

It is a very good camera, I own one, that my wife uses with a 18-200 VR2 lens.

All of the pictures in this set were taken with said above

Even though I voted to ban you, I'm feeling helpful today...

Generally, I agree about avoiding ebay for core camera gear, but there are some authorized and reputable sellers.

Most people would agree that Beach Camera is reputable. I bought my Canon 580 EX II from them through ebay. They have an ebay store, so you can get your bing and use the bucks.

I've never heard of CCR. Just because they say they are an authorized reseller does not mean they really are.

There were several feedback listings for CCR stating that their merchandise did not come with a USA warranty card, though the ones I saw were all Canon products.

Depends who the warranty is through and if there's a deductable. If you have to pay to use it, not worth it.

Nikon bodies have 1 yr warranty

Nikon lenses have 5 yr warranty in the US.

You can get the D90 with a 18-105mm lens. That lens is a good all around lens. The type of lens you need really depends on what you want to shoot.

The d90 with 18-105 lens is the kit I purchased from bhphotovideo.

Congrats!

First things first, get a good bag to carry it around in. I recommend Crumpler bags.
