Nikon D40

Hey, i was thinking about buying a used Nikon D40. I happen to come across this site that has one used.

http://www.houston-imports.com/forum...d.php?t=544782

Can i get your thoughts on the camera (pros and cons) and is the pricing okay for it?

This will be my first SLR camera as i am new to taking high quality pictures.

The D40 is a nice little camera, but if you plan on going further with other than just taking pictures, you soon see that you'll need a more mature camera body.

Price seems a bit high to me especially if it's used.

I'll probably won't go any further than just taking good quality pictures and then touching up the pictures. I can try to get him to go lower on the price, maybe $350-400.

Is there anyone on here that has a D40 or have used one before that can give me an honest opinion on it?

i had a D40, and i moved up to a D90 within 2 months. the D40 was a very good start, i say go for it but not at his stated price. seems very overpriced. check out craiglist.

I have the D40 and it is a great camera. It is more camera than most people will ever need. You will not regret getting it. If you want to upgrade, pair it with the 18-200mm VR lens and that is all you will ever need. I got my D40 + 18-55mm lens for $450 brand new.
