Some features as well i think d300 viewfinder is 100% while d700 is 95% or something.

Yea i just felt that it wasn't worth me upgrading to fx just yet.
cf cap is something that needs to be watched. My friend with his d700 for a few months, already had to sent it in to nikon to get it fixed.

i see, i had no idea it was that bad, because it looks the same as my 40D which i havent had any issues with.
and i see what you guys mean about the D300 CF door, it has that latch that you switch to open it.

Ugh...Nikon is going to oversaturate their own market if they arent careful. There is nothing in the d300s that couldnt have waited for the D400.
And what is the point of the D3000 when they just released the D5005.
Stupid.

They put out the D300s at the same price point as the D300 and added what people wanted video.
The D3000 I get, though I think its silly, unless Canon is coming out with something similar.
The D300s....again nothing that couldnt wait for the D400 if that camera is really coming out soon.

I doubt that it will be coming out soon, there's nothing wrong with the D300 to replace it. As Nikon does most of the time is just make a few upgrades to current bodies and give it a suffix. Not a new model number and raise the price $200.

Nikon D300S vs D300: Key Differences
The D300S is a subtle upgrade from the D300; but aside from the obvious addition of video, there are a few other tweaks and additions:
* 720p HD video, including autofocus while recording
* SD card slot in addition to existing CF slot
* Faster continuous shooting (7fps, vs. 6fps)
* Socket for external microphone
* Live View and Info buttons
* Discrete 'OK' button in multi controller
* Interactive settings display screen
* Auto and Extra High Active D-Lighting options
* Quiet drive mode
* Virtual horizon
The back of the D300S is slightly revised from the D300, and is now almost a dead-ringer for the D700. All of the key shooting controls remain in the same place, but the card door latch makes way for a dedicated 'info' button, and in a welcome move the D300's somewhat spongy multi-controller is replaced with the more positive design (with separate center button) seen on every Nikon DSLR since. Echoing the D90 and D5000, Live View now has its own dedicated button on the back of the camera; its place on the drive mode dial is occupied by the 'Quiet' mode, which in truth isn't especially quiet but does at least delay the mirror return until the shutter button is released. Finally nine small holes at the bottom right corner reveal the location of the small speaker used for audio playback, resulting in a decrease in area of the rubberised grip on the back.

D700 is like 5DmkII ?
D3 is sort of like 1DmkIII

yeah I felt the same way, it sounds like they just wanted to get this out there for the video - like they felt they were losing too much ground to Canon. I can understand where they were coming from, the 5D2 was the only higher-end cam which had video. But, I would have thought a Nikon offering thereof would have required 1080p.

I meant the 700x

And I completely LOVE how there is finally someone who was once a Canon user to put some weight behind Nikkor optics.
I'm just upset with the weak dollar and the increase in costs. It's too expensive to even buy used glass these days.
But from a pure photography point of view there's nothing my D700 can't do that I can do with a 5DII.. bad pictures will still be bad
No doubt the 14-24 is incredible, probably one of the best investments in glass I can make for myself when I save enough.

But you need good glass to make it this best that can be and the 14-24 and 24-70, heck even the 70-200 has given me better than Canon's 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200 did. I've taken shoots with all three this year and I am amazed. I'm not a pixel peeper, but something was lacking with my Canon lenses.
I fell for what Canon was pushing with their "L's" they're good, but it's a bit of smoke and mirrors. I love that a lot Nikon's "entry level" lenses are very good, not just made to get you to buy into a system and then want/have to buy "L".
