New to cameras.. Question..

I've been snooping around this place and you guys really seem to know your stuff so i'll ask it here.

What is a decent camera that is manual, but holds the pictures digitally, at a fairly low price? What is the cheapest one found? What is top of the line? What lenses do I need?

I really have no clue.. so some help would be appreciated.

You can get quite a bit of manual functionality in a P&S

It's not going to help me by using abbreviations because I am a noob when it comes to cameras. More specifically, the camera is pretty much a manual camera, like lenses, focus, shutter speed etc. but stores digital pics. Pictures and prices would be appreciated.

SLR = Single Lens Reflex = Bigger camera with changeable lenses.

P&S = Point and Shoot = Smaller everyday camera

this is a relatively cheap camera that has manual controls for image capturing like shutter speed and aperture size.

I just posted in another camera thread this morning where the A540 was discussed.
