I took a couple of pictures with the 40D so I could mess around with them in Photoshop. As you can see I tried a couple effects. I’m still learning a lot by toying around like this though.

I like the look of the pictures. The first and third have a slight "SAW" (the movie) eerie quality to them and I like the contrast of the gauge and the blue background in the second. What lens are you using with the 40d? I am thinking of getting a 40d to learn on as well.

 

I am shooting with the Kit lense 28-135. You should get it. You would love the camera.
I am glad you said eerie quality because that’s what I was going for. Our work has a down stairs section that looks like something out of a horror flick. We have to walk through this section to get our break room that has a pool table. So every time I go down there I feel like I am in a B grade horror flick. So I decided to see if I could reproduce some picture that would look like that.

 

I really like these. Especially the first one.

My only word of advice would be to back off the amount of color toning on the third image.
