Looking for new camera

So I been looking and searching upon new cameras. One camera that stand out was the Canon g9. I have read many good things about the camera. My current camera is a Canon Sd630. I was going to go for a SLR/DSLR camera but they seem pretty expensive and are pretty big to carry around. The Canon G9 fits in the palm of my hand and the price is decent. What would be your input on the Canon G9?

The G9 is a great camera. If you're looking for a high-end "pocketable" camera, then it's probably at the top of the heap. I like how the controls are very similar to the xxD series and that it has a hotshoe. Also, RRS makes a really suite case for it: http://reallyrightstuff.com/rrs/Item...%2DCVR&eq=&Tp=

I have a G9, it's a great camera, though it is still a p&s and still has it's limitation. It shoots 1024 video with is a big plus, for this little thing. If you think that you won't be using the manual functions a lot, I would just go with a SD870IS.

I got it hoping it would be closer to a SLR, so I wouldn't have to carry a d/slr. I still grab my d/slr when I was hoping to use the G9. I'm on the fence about selling it and getting the SD870IS.

one cool thing I like about the G9 that lenses are interchangeable.

Yes, you have the option for a wider or a teleconverter as well as a fisheye.

Here's thread that might help you, it's just for the G Series Canon cameras.

This camera seems to be used a lot for underwater photography, too (much cheaper than buying a housing for a dSLR). It might be an option for me down the road.
