All these pictures are about 5 years old
Taken at the Pebble Beach Concorso Italiano in 2002 (or 2003, can't remember)
And for some reason I took way more pictures of the domestics set up on another lot than the Italians

skills getting the rig chopped out right?
the "blemish" on the driver door, is that where the rig was mounted?

After trying many times on my own, I finally decided to mount the rig onto a chase car. Since I could pretty much replicate such a shot leaning out of the chase car's window, I decided to mount the rig as low as possible (without being too low that rocks would be a problem). So the shots still have that "rig" feel. I hooked up a cable release and operated from inside the cabin of the chase car when I saw the cars were in position.
Due to the difficulties with syncing up two cars, I found the longest shutter I could use was around 1/8 or so. This was not enough to blur the background so I exaggerated that in PS.
Thanks for asking! I have more from that set if you want to see.

There are also really expensive ones but this one has worked out fine for me so far.
At the time, I had two cameras (Canon EOS-10D and Sigma SD-10). My widest lens on both was a 24-70. With their respective crops of 1.6x and 1.7x, I was just not getting the results I wanted. There was no way I could extend the mount out far enough to get the entire car.

Well those two were probably the best ones. But here's others:
Most of these are rejects from when I was experimenting with settings. Surprisingly it was not so difficult once the settings were found. It was a compromise between image sharpness and sufficient motion blur. Once I found the good settings, we got both "keepers" in one take each.
