Large Format camera detail

Wonder if there will ever be a day when a digital cam can have this kind of detail. look at the crops - they are ridiculous. Can you picture in like 20 years or so.. what kind of technology we will have? The size of these files won't be an issue.

I still love going to exhibits for photogrpahers such as Ansel Adams. Its simply amazing what Large format can do.

Damn. That's a nice comparison.

His gallery is gorgeous! Many of them look like subtle HDR's to me.

Yeah lots of them look like HDR's. I think this is almost by like, definition of the system.

This is crazy too:

In addition to the huge size of 4"x5" film, another reason why large format cameras can produce such sharp photos is because they allow lens movements. By tilting the lens plane and film plane relative to the focal plane, you can achieve optimum optical sharpness from foreground to background, all with the aperature wide open! Then by closing the aperature down to f22 or f32, every ounce of sharpness is squeezed from the lens.
Look at the DOF on the samples!
