Got the XTi
Got the XTi
The wifey actually surprised me and picked up the XTi for my birthday. Been trying to read various things online getting a crash course on SLR technology, how to take basic pictures and understand basic advanced techniques... All before even taking one picture with the thing.
So I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way... Any introductory words of wisdom?

Congrats. My advice, put it in 'M' and fire away. Learn what everything does.
Here's a source that helped me out quite a bit at first but I'm sure there are better sources out there.

come over to www.photography-on-the.net there is plenty of info on there.
first and foremost though, READ THE MANUAL. you'll get to know the camera.

Shoot the same picture with different settings and observe the differences.
That's the best way to learn.
'M' is probably too overwhelming initially, imho - I'd Try 'A'.
The ones you'll use the most are:
Shutter/Aperture
Exposure compensation
White balance (Or shoot in RAW and fix it in post)
Flash (if you have an external, then bounce)
Also learn shooting posture. It'll help you keep the camera steady.
Have fun!

Nice
I am going to get that camera in 3 months when my 15 year anniversary comes up at my company.
That is one of the gifts we can select. I would get a watch, but my 10 year came with a Rolex.
