You're not going to save any money right now on a 40D. The best (honest) place to buy would be bhphoto.com (which is currently closed until 6 Oct for Jewish holiday), amazon.com or adorama.com.

With the 40D just hitting the stores, $1299 body only and $1499 for the body and lens, which is a great deal, because the lens is normally about $400 alone.

If you don't have to have the 40D, you can find a hell of a deal on the 30D's, used of course.

 

Well I am trying to find it online with free shipping and no sales tax. That alone will save me around a 100 dollars. I could use that for a camera bag.

That's the only place online that I know, most will not charge tax. I have seen adorama.com give free shipping but only certain items.

adorama.com, amazon.com and bhphoto.com are the only online companies I'd use. They're the only ones I trust. If you do find a company that gives you a really good price, stay away they're scams.

^^ That is the normal price for it, but I've heard a couple bad stories about ordering from Ritz within in the last month. It took one guy almost two weeks to get his camera from Ritz, when they said it was in stock. He had to call them almost everyday for a week, because they screwed up his order.

They called him said the needed his info again and was told it would ship the next day, two days still didn't ship. When he called, they said the needed his info AGAIN, he was told it would ship AGAIN next day. Two days later it still didn't ship, two days later he called AGAIN, gave them the information AGAIN.

 

There are reputable places to deal with besides Amazon, B&H, and Adorama. Besides these three, I've ordered photo items from Newegg and Buydig.com (same as Beach Camera) both of which have pretty good reputations. The thing to keep in mind is that even though a vendor may be completely legit and offer great service, they may not be considered an authorized dealer. This usually means nothing as far as warranty coverage is concerned but it may be significant when trying to claim rebates.

 

I didn't suggest newegg, because he is in California and would have to pay taxes, I was trying to stay within his requests for free shipping and no taxes, though Beach Camera offers 7-9 business days free shipping.

 

I think I will just get it from amazon like you said. Now I just have to wait a couple weeks. I still need to sell my FZ30 too. Know anyone who wants to buy it?
