Smile Fun With Plasma

I plugged in a plasma globe that I bought years ago last night and decided to take some shots. It made for a very cool subject. Here are a few from the series:

Plasma Explosion

The Death Star

Reaching Out

Plasma Wave

Sperm

Here are a few hue shifts of the first image:

I don't post anything larger than 1MP so my pics don't end up on someone's wall without my knowledge.

I'll PM you a 1920x1200 version...

Real nice pictures, alot of fun to play with in photoshop. I took "reaching out" and did a couple different things with it. I'm pretty much a newb at PS, but let me know what you think of these

They were shot in a completely dark room. I used an EF 100mm macro and a tripod (of course).

"Plasma Explosion" and "Plasma Wave" were both shot at f/8 and ISO100. Plasma Wave was a 20-second exposure to blend the plasma fingers together and just focus on the colour, the Explosion shot was somewhere around 8 seconds to get less blur.

The remaining shots were shot wide open at ISO400 and between 1/20 to 1/4 to reduce movement of the plasma fingers.

It was available as a screensaver, but they also had a version that would run as the desktop, under the icons.

Usually only took my a couple minutes before i bleed from the nose and passed out on the floor.
