Creating avi files

Can someone help me / guide me towards learning how to create a avi? I've got a series I took of a robin feeding babies and it would make a good little movie clip. I'm fairly new at this stuff so forgive my ignorance.

I was thinking along the lines of a digital "flip-book" if you know what I mean. Is there an application to do such a thing?

Thanx. I'll see what I can do. I have "MS PhotoStory" or something like that however it will only do five images. I have something like 70. (Kind of went crazy firing off multiple images with the remote and the camera on the tripod).
