Couple of eagle pics

Here are a couple of series of eagle pics I took recently.

First set is a mature bald eagle hunting.

You can see the fish at his feet.

These last two are of an immature bald eagle in the same area.

Thanks guys. The lens is the EF 100-400mm. The in-flight pictures are serious crops as the eagles were maybe 50 yards away. The birds in the trees were no more than 30 feet from me.

These pictures were taken at the Conowingo Dam along the Susquehanna River in MD, about an hour from my house. There are a couple of resident eagles in that area, however this is the tail end of the fall migration. Just before Thanksgiving there were as many as 160 eagles there. On my latest trip up a couple of weeks ago I counted 20. It is really a great place to go to see eagles, as well as the occasional Osprey, Hawk or Falcon.

Incredible shots! I didn't realize there were so many eagles around the dam, but I was just looking at a web site that says it's not uncommon to see 20 at a time during the winter. I was about 30 minutes from there yesterday (parents live in Jarrettsville). I'm definitely going to take a day trip up there sometime in the next few weeks.

drigo - the dam is along Route 1 on the Susquehannah River. The parking area is just south of Route 1 on the west side of the River, on Shures Landing Road. Open dawn to dusk, just don't point the camera at the dam, the security folks don't like that and will yell at you.

Here's directions from Google:

If you are referring to the Bald Eagle, it was removed from the endangered species list in 2007 as it's numbers in the wild are steadily increasing and it's population is considered to be stable.
