Ok, I bought an S80 last Jan after they first came out after reading many reviews on them. I fell in love with it, I've never had a camera like it and was amazed with the quality of pictures I could get without having an SLR.

Unfortunately, last Halloween it was stolen from me and I haven't had the money to purchase a new one due to the TL and moving out of my parents house. Well this summer I was hoping to purchase another one (before I start going too crazy on the TL, I need a camera to take pictures of it ) but I can't seem to find it too many places on the internet! I swear about 2 months ago I was able to find it everywhere, and for around $300-$350... Now I'm having a hard time finding it for under $425, and some places are nearing $1,000(!!!).

Did Canon stop producing this camera all together when the G7 came out? Its still on their website (when you Google it). Is there any other camera that is comparable to it? I looked at the G7 when it first came out, and a salesman I talked to said it just didn't even come close to the S80. I'm looking for a higher end camera like the S80, possibly SLR, but without spending too much. I did like to be able to carry the S80 around with me easily in my pocket, but maybe I should think about getting a small, not so nice camera to use at parties and such so I don't get the nice one stolen.

Thanks for any suggestions, I'm just trying to get an idea here mainly, but I'll definately be looking for something in the near future!

 

One of canons best line of cameras. ebay would probably be your best bet...but might I suggest look for a S70 instead. S70 can shoot in RAW. S80 can not.

 

For some annoying reason, Canon Killed off the old S series.
It was one of my favorite lines, I used to recommend them to people all the time.
