Canon S3I3 memory card error - any help?
So, I have about a two-year old S3I3 that gets VERY little use. I'm not hard on it, I don't subject it to extreme conditions (sand, etc.) A few months ago, it flashed "memory card locked", which of course it wasn't. After I removed that card, I tried other SD cards, of varying sizes, and brands, and some used, some new. With each card I put in, it gives me a "memory card error" reading. I've changed the batteries, as well as the camera's internal battery with to no avail. I've read a lot about Canon owners experiencing this problem, but with no real solution. I live in a VERY remote area, and my nearest reputable camera shot is literally 3 - 5 hours away. Does anyone have any experience with this that might point me to a DIY solution?

OK, to correct my multitude of errors and typos.
1) Make that an S3IS, not sure why I had such a hard time typing that!
2) And my camera SHOP is a long ways away, not SHOT.
I'll ignore the rest of them as I'm sure you can decipher the rest of the message.

Oliver!!!
I've got an S5IS and haven't had any issues with it. I actually got the S5 due to the reliability and quality of my buddy's S3.
That said, is anything else not working?
I read somewhere online that people had decent luck taking out the AAs and internal battery and leaving them out for a period of time. When you put it back together, low level format the card in the camera and see if it helps.

Based on my online research, this is a known issue with Canons, but unfortunately no real fix yet.
So to answer your question, nothing else is working because without a card that it will read, I can't take any photos.
