I wonder if they're trying to move some inventory before PMA in March...

I can tell you that up here, we have no stock of several of the more popular lenses. Thousands on order.

I'll likely be waiting a few more weeks for my 70-300 IS.

That's interesting, but I think the rebates are designed to move more bodies than lenses. Lenses are much more profitable and they're changed much less frequently, so it doesn't hurt to keep inventories of them.

The bodies that are on the rebate are the 30D, 5D, and 1-series. All of which are candidates for a refresh or replacement soon. I think we'll probably see two of them updated for PMA, hence the extension of the rebate.

It does seem like they are trying to move the bodies. Hopefully, if they upgrade the 30D, it won't be anything too significant.

FYI - the 1 series will qualify you for double rebates, but there aren't any actual rebates on them. I was going to get a 1Ds until I saw that.

Agree. I was more or less just pointing out that SLR's have never been so popular.

I still bet the 5D gets an upgrade first. We should make a poll.

I just checked the status of my rebate and my check for $360 is being mailed out today!

Now I just have to send in my form and UPC for the 430EX.

I can mail the rebate a little later. Still anxiously awaiting 'my package' from amazon. (and I anxiously await the US$100 coming back after dropping a fairly hefty sum for the camera ...)
