Buying a camera package off of ebay?

I'm looking at the Canon EOS 50D and have found some great package deals on ebay. The sellers have great feedback but something still doesn't seem right with the pricing compared to places like bhphotovideo.com.

Would you buy a camera package deal from ebay?

Going by past threads on the subject, pretty sure everyone here will tell you to stay away and stick to reputable on-line vendor like B&H.

Here's one

That's what I figured. Just wanted to run it past you all first. I usually use bhphotovideo.com for camera purchases for the company I work for.

You run a great risk of buying grey market or possible refrubs on eBay. Just be sure you know what you're getting yourself into. I bought my D300 on eBay and was extremely lucky it was as described. For my D700 it was too high ticket, so I just bought it local at fair price.

I picked up a 50D at best buy this weekend. I know I could have saved some money by ordering online, but I was impatient. Got a bag coming and giottos cleaning kit coming that I did buy on ebay for a lot cheaper than the stores.

I agree with what's been said; however, I have bought many accessories off of e-bay with good luck. ebay is especially useful for thing like shutter release cables, bubble levels, etc. My last "major" purchase was a 580EXII from Beach Camera's e-bay store before the rebates were announced, but I used Live cashback and got it for a little less than the rebate price. So, stick with reliable, authorized dealers for major items and get flash diffusers, cables, etc from various ebay vendors.
