another "test shot with the 40D" thread...

so after owning the 40D for a month now...i finally got to go out and take some sample pics...still trying to get used to the camera...so far i'm loving it...also learning how to PP...

thanks..yes i'm using the kit lens but on the 2nd pic i used my 70-200mm f/4L

Nice, drigo. I especially like the last two. The B&W came out well, and the composition of the third is very nice.

drigo, any PP on the lifeguard chair shot? the color is SO vivid, it amazes me! Beautiful contrast.

thanks...i just sharpened it up a little then resized...that's all...i shot that pic with a 70-200mm f/4L...so i think the glass had alot to do with it...oh and it was shot right after sunrise...maybe the lighting had something to do with it too...

i really need to get photoshop or something...
i'm using a program called "picture it" from microsoft (i think) from 2001

^^Shoot RAW and use DPP that came with your camera. It's pretty good.

i'm gonna try to make it...are they doing fireworks tonight? i went last night for the lighting of the christmas tree...they did fireworks...but it was very weak...i heard they were doing it again tonight...i also heard they were doing the "waterfall" fireworks off the bridge..is that true?


....and yes...you need to get a tripod for those night shots...

thank you! let's see...i bought an XTi this past july then sold it and got a 40D a little over a month ago..so i'd say about 4-5 months...

nice stuff in here! my favs are #1 at the top (love the smooth reflection of the sun on the sand) and the parrot and then the silhouette of the palm tree. bridge is nice too.

did you notice the green thingy on the 1st pic?(bottom center) i didn't know what it was at first then found out later that it was dust on my lens...

i should of posted these in your non processed thread since only sharpening & resizing was done...except for the palm tree pic...

I did see it, I thought it was lens flare from the sun. You know, you could repost em in there :P

thats what i thought too at first but when i used the same lens 2 days later in a different setting..i got the same thing but even more...
i guess i could post them there but you didn't say that framing was allowed...
