1D/1Ds mark I/II/IIn battery life

More specifically what's the normal battery life on a mkIIn? I was shooting some pics at the wedding I attended and had a fully charged battery and it went to flashing low battery status after not even shooting 100 frames

also WTF is with the sleep mode? It seems like the camera is still on. Can't tell you how many times I left the camera on thinking that in sleep mode it should use little to no power just like my 40D, only to find out the camera went dead

maybe the ni-mh batteries are going bad? I did refresh them recently

How old are the batteries?

I write with a sharpie on the battery the date I buy them so I can keep track...

I don't know about those batteries, but on the 30D the batteries have a long way to go before dying after starting to flash low battery.

yea the batteries on my 40D last for ages.

im guessing the issues with the batteries is because they are nickel metal hydride batteries.

If you want to save a few bucks, many have said SterlingTEK batteries work well. But I've always used OEM's.

I've used SterlingTek for about 3 years without problem. Just bought one for the T1i.

Cheap too.

I use the sterlingtek as well, and have four of them. One died after one year, but the others are doing fine.

Can the SterlingTEK batteries be charged OK using the canon supplied charger?

I'd say it's pretty accurate, just 200 shots on that big of battery, not a lot of use. With my 1D3 and my D700 (using the big battery) 200 images isn't nothing.

well i meant inaccurate in that it cant properly read the actual charge of the battery, hence why it would jump around and show almost empty, and then all of a sudden show that its full again
