***Acurazine Photo Contest: Wildlife***

Acurazine Photo Contest

The theme for this contest is: "Wildlife"

This is wide open - pretty much anything goes, within the standard SFW content of course.

The rules for this contest are as follows:

-The subject can be anything you deem acceptable.
-You must be the person that took the photos. Previous photos are acceptable as long as you are the one that captured the image.
-One submission per contest.
-Images must be no larger than 900px in any direction. Links to larger images are allowed but you must have one that is under 900px for the poll.
-All contestants must host their own pictures.
-All pictures must have a title.
-While post processing in photoshop is allowed, adding or removing parts of the picture is not. In the event a photo is suspected to be "photochopped," the contestant will be asked to provide the original picture.

Important dates and poll info:

Entries must be submitted to this thread no later than Sunday, June 14th at 6pm EDT.

The poll will start on Monday, June 15th. Multiple votes will be allowed.

The poll will close on Monday, June 22nd at 9pm EDT.

I already have some pictures that I think I might be able to use, but I'm gonna try to go out and get some new ones.

Forgive me for asking a stupid question, but what does "the idea of change" have to do with wildlife for the subject of this contest?

yeah, I know... but I already know I'm going to be limited in terms of $$$ anyway, I think what they have to offer for me to play with is enough (Minolta and I guess Sony), at least for now...

the "beercan" lens I just got... goes back to those days... they were going for about $250 NEW back then, but I guess they were so well made and took great pictures, they're still going for $150-$250 on eBay. A lot of the people with the Alphas are picking these up

Ahhhhh that makes sense now. For a second i thought there was some specific focus within wildlife that we had to stay within.

What do you guys and gals think about NOT allowing previous work, meaning all content submitted has to be new and taken during the time frame of the contest?

I am just thinking that since one of the main goals for me of entering a contest is to keep myself going out and taking new pictures, it might be an interesting requirement.

Thoughts?

We tried, not a lot entered. Glad to hear those that already posted have said they want to find new. I'll be trying new. Always do or I don't enter.

Nice subject! I was banned pretty much during most of stogie's contest--so I'd like to enter this one.

I like the idea; but, it might deter people from entering. Some may not know how to keep EXIF intact if they are using some of the more common image hosts.

Edit: Plus, EXIF can be edited-- Of course, our resident cheater has been perma-banned.

Date/Time Stamp on the photos FTW!

Does wildlife actually need to be photographed in the wild, or are you allowing errrmmm...zoo "wild" life?

I guess as long as it evokes the idea of change, it should be good.

My ideas are currently cliche, but I have a while to think about it.

Preferably yes. (but it is unenforceable)

That is the point of these contests, is go go out and shoot something.

I took this one just the other week. Unfortunately i'm having my camera serviced at the Nikon service center in walt whitman ny. (10 mins away ) If it wasn't there i'd probably be hunting for more critters right now.

Hunting for nuts

Caught this back in buffalo at Delaware park, he was just running around and i was able to get really close to him with my 70-200 2.8 vr lens. I think i got his good side cuz he wouldn't hold still...

I wasn't poking fun at you!

Just wanted everyone to be clear of the contest rules.

The theme is "Wildlife", not change.

I have a feeling I'm going to get hurt chasing after wild animals, my longest (read only) lens at the moment is a 17-40 on a FF.

If we're allowed I'll enter a photo I have taken recently/
