Acurazine Photo Contest #31
The theme for this contest is: "Life After People"
To play off my new favorite show on the History Channel, the theme is to capture images of items that have been abandoned and/or left unused for long periods of time. For example, this can be a rusting tractor in a field or the ruins of a building. It is not meant to be pictures of antique cars or something that has been restored or is old but currently in use. It must be man-made and in obvious stages of decay from non-use. Pictures of the Colosseum would be acceptable; pictures of a Model T in a museum would not.
The rules for this contest are as follows:
-The subject can be anything you deem acceptable that fits the description.
-You must be the person that took the photos. Previous photos are acceptable as long as you are the one that captured the image.
-One submission per contest.
-Images must be no larger than 900px in any direction. Links to larger images are allowed but you must have one that is under 900px for the poll.
-All contestants must host their own pictures.
-All pictures must have a title.
-While post processing in Photoshop is allowed, adding or removing parts of the picture is not. In the event a photo is suspected to be "photo-chopped," the contestant will be asked to provide the original picture.
Important dates and poll info:
Entries must be submitted to this thread no later than Sunday, July 26th at 9PM EST. Most people seem comfortable with the 4 week format so I will leave it at that.
The poll will start on Monday, July 27th. Multiple votes will be allowed.
The poll will close on Wednesday, July 29th at 9PM EST. Shorter voting period than previously done.

I don't know how it's been handled in the past, but I think that as long as you meet the deadline it is OK to remove an entry and submit another.

Its actually in Staunton, VA. I didn't know it was there actually but we had stopped at a gas station when I went up there to buy a car and its directly behind the gas station. I snapped a few pics while we were there. Unfortunately, you can't get real close to it. its all blocked off.

I go by it each week, and it was the first place I thought of to go and grab some shots for this contest... but I didn't.

I have been to two closed/abandoned mental hospitals for work. Really weird shit left inside those buildings and really strange things happened there, too.
this is a very interesting site that i found: http://www.opacity.us/locations/
Also pictures of post-Chernobyl areas are interesting, too.
