Volvo C50 News

Volvo readies sporty C50 convertible - - Source: englewoodvolvo.com

Ford's Swedish (or "Sweeeeee-dish" to you Tom Green fans) subsidiary Volvo is readying a third model on the C1 global compact platform -- a new coupe/convertible with a retractable hardtop that will be called C50. The sporty two-door, which will be unveiled this fall at the Paris Auto Show, joins the S40 sedan and the V50 wagon in Volvo's small-car lineup for the coming year.

The C50 will come with a choice of five-cylinder engines, like its siblings, and will offer a four-wheel-drive option when it arrives in showrooms next year, probably as a 2006 model.

Although it's considerably smaller, the C50 will replace the C70 in Volvo's stable.

Where did that come from?

Nice. I like more coupes in the market. I am sure we'll see a C50R with 300 force-fed HP next year.

Those pics look like they used a new S40 and just chopped off two doors and the roof

Nice looking coupe. I love the fact that it's a hardtop/convert... you have the best of both worlds. They'll do well if priced right.

Key word priced right. THe C70s were expensive and gave little in return, which is why they hardly sold any.

If a loaded V40 T5 6-speed is $41k then I can't see any reason this isn't in the same price range ...

I'm sorry but I do not think a Volvo S40/V40/C50 is in the same league as a BMW 3-series. Just ain't happening ...

wayyy too lame. the headlights, grille, hood, tails, are ALL the same as the other volvo cars.
someone just rummaged through a Volvo parts bin. why couldnt they spruce this baby up a bit? but i guess this explains the steadiness of volvos marketing scheme.

personally, i think the C70 was WAY hotter, and the hood on this baby looks like a damn boat
