I was right. starting price $61K. with VX at $75K.

https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-new...00-series-grow

Hurry up and wait for your LC300: Queues for the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series grow overseas with months-long delivery delays expected - reports

According to the online sleuths at Japan's Best Car Web, the local price list for the new LC300 will start at 5.1 million yen ($61,377) for the cheapest GX petrol model, climbing to 5.5 million yen ($66,200) for the AX, and 6.6 million yen ($75,810) for the VX.

But the number that really matters to us is the diesel price list, with the top-spec ZX to sell for 7.6 million yen ($91,437) in diesel guise, and the new GR Sport will list at 8 million yen ($96,250) - making that model the most expensive ever.

The top-spec ZX model (the nameplate ZX Sahara has already been trademarked in Australia) is 326,000 yen (around $4000) more expensive than the ZX 200 Series. The gap to the diesels ZX is then another $3600.

No, you are not.

You have been on AZ for this long and you still dont understand car prices in other part of the world is not relevant with the car prices in the US?.... Since the car will not make it to the US, you will never know how much they cost in the US since you dont know what kind of engine and options would be offered in the US.

Japanese prices are nearly identical to US prices for Made in Japan vehicles.

Price of RAV4 Prime that is exported to US. is $42,500 to $49,000. which is practically the same price as in US.

These are 4Runner prices in US now with all the market adjustment.
https://www.carscoops.com/2021/08/20...ully-detailed/
The GR Sport is the most expensive trim of the Land Cruiser with pricing in Japan starting from ¥7,700,000 ($70,468) for the gasoline version and from ¥8,000,000 ($73,216) for the diesel. The model will be produced in Toyota’s Yoshiwara Plant in Japan, and it is expected to reach dealers in its home market on August 21-22. Unfortunately, the 300 Series won’t be available in the US, where Lexus will offer its more luxurious sibling – the LX.

The GR Sport comes with 265/65/18 tires. weight is only 10% more than Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro.
https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/toyota/35758437.html
The vehicle uses a new Linear Solenoid Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system, which controls shock absorbers' damping force independently for each wheel in response to road conditions and driver operation, for improved steering stability and ride comfort. (Equipped as standard on the ZX and GR Sport grades)

demand is so strong that you cannot resell within a year.

2022 Toyota Land Cruiser Cannot Be Sold As Used Car For Security Reasons

Also, the brand is concerned that private exports to a different country would lead to security issues, quoting, “there is a risk of violating foreign exchange law depending on the export destination, and it may lead to major problems that threaten global security.” In fact, Toyota says that it will ban buyers from purchasing another Toyota again if they go against the brand’s concern.

its quality and reliability with low maintiance.in places where Tesla will not even enter such small markets. let alone ride in hills. EV is too expensive to enter unless market is part of large infrastructure.
If you look at 0-120mph testing. the New version is 10 second faster than last one tested by C&D. 10 second is huge transformation at higher speed.

This is called Brand image and market dominance. even German foreign Minister travels Toyota for the countries he visited. German cars are getting more and more unreliable.

One of the oldest vehicles on sale, the Land Cruiser Series 70 was launched when many of us weren't even born yet. The venerable off-roader came out in 1984 and it's still going strong 38 years later. So much so that Toyota will be updating the truck yet again by the end of the year in Australia to comply with stricter side-impact crash regulations. Since the company is pouring money into the ol' pickup, it means the J70 will be sticking around.

As a matter of fact, demand for the reputable Land Cruiser has generated a waiting list long enough to keep Toyota busy for more than two years. Indeed, Australian magazine Drive cites local dealers who have done the math based on the current production rate and projections and they claim existing orders will be fulfilled at some point in 2024.

The silver lining for those people is they might not have to wait until then provided Toyota finds a way to ramp up production of the Series 70. As with just about every other vehicle out there, global supply chain issues have slowed down production of the Land Cruiser. The all-terrain vehicle will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2024 when the latest orders received from Down Under will be completed.

Toyota Australia still sells an SUV version of the J70. It has a 4.5-liter turbodiesel V8 engine like the others, while the GXL trim level is a tad more luxurious without losing the 4x4 capabilities. There's also the GX serving as the workhorse with a truck bed, so it's safe to say there are surprisingly enough options to choose from given the vehicle's age.

Ok, but why are some people still fascinated by a truck that came out in the first half of the 1980s? Well, it's practically indestructible, and if something does break, the Land Cruiser Series 70 is easy to work on. Pricing is also a factor since it starts at a little over 100,000 AUD while the latest Series 300 begins from approximately 150,000 AUD.

It's worth noting the J70 is not exactly the same truck it was in 1984. Toyota has updated the vehicle over the decades and it now comes with modern amenities like air conditioning, ABS, and power windows. All trim levels get cruise control and a 6.1-inch touchscreen with navigation and Bluetooth, while the GXL even has a hill-start assist system.

Regardless of choice, the Series 70 has that diesel engine hooked up to a five-speed manual gearbox sending power to all four wheels. The WorkMate and GX have auto-locking hubs while the GXL comes with differential locks. As standard, the Land Cruiser can hold 130 liters (34.3 gallons) of diesel, but there is an option for a larger fuel tank with 180 liters (47.5 gallons).

To some extent, the modern-day equivalent of the J70 is the Ineos Grenadier as the latest Land Cruiser, Mercedes G-Class, and Land Rover Defender are far more luxurious than their predecessors.

Toyota just took to social media with an ultra-short, five-second teaser video riddled with vintage Land Cruiser badges to announce the good news – the beloved nameplate is slated to return to the United States market.

Even better, the emblems are seconded by an equally short message: "Nothing better than a comeback story. The legend returns…" followed by the usual #LetsGoPlaces call to arms. Now, take a moment to pause and breathe deeply. So, the Japanese automaker has been taking the spotlight like a veritable force of nature these past few months across the North American market.

Ever since they brought back the S235 Crown nameplate – now a crossover-style sedan – they could not help but churn out one novelty after the other. We could quickly fill a few pages but highlight examples include the Prius 'Hybrid Reborn' along with its 220-hp Prime plug-in hybrid form, the 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid that succeeded the departing C-HR subcompact CUV, the fresh Corolla Nightshade family, the 2024 Grand Highlander three-row family-oriented crossover, as well as the mighty fourth generation 2024 Tacoma mid-size pickup truck best-seller.

And when they took a moment to catch their breath, the premium division Lexus immediately took over with the 2024 TX (a badge-engineered Grand Highlander) and the beloved all-new 2024 GX 550 off-road-focused SUV after in Europe they also introduced the smallest Lexus crossover to date – the LBX, which is also a badge-engineered Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid. Anyway, now it seems that Toyota's namesake brand is ready for the second part of the year, and they are kicking off the teaser proceeds with the monster news that the Toyota Land Cruiser nameplate is officially ready for its comeback story as it will soon return to the United States car market.

No details have perspired so far, as the cryptic teaser is all about the legacy of the series rather than its immediate future. But we can make some educated guesses based on what has happened on Toyota's social media before. For example, judging by the lengthy 2024 Tacoma teaser campaign, do not expect the all-new Land Cruiser for America to arrive any time soon. Instead, we are probably weeks, even months, away from the moment when all the juicy details will be revealed. Additionally, according to the rumor mill, the returning LC will not be akin to the J300 series that has been roaming other parts of the world for some years already – you will still need to upgrade to the J310 Lexus LX flagship if you want that kind of prowess.

Instead, the North American Land Cruiser might be twinned with the all-new Lexus GX 550 going forward – just like the slightly smaller Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (born in 1984) has been doing since about two decades ago. Naturally, Toyota could drop the 'Prado' moniker altogether to avoid confusion, and the Land Cruiser plus GX could merrily attack all of their rivals in America starting next year – and with potentially electrified powertrains, including the hybrid and plug-in hybrid variety. Now, of course, all we have to do is sit and wait to see what comes next. We guess that more teasers – a lot more of them – are in store before we actually see the first official images with the North American specification of the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser. But it could also be well worth the wait!

The last month of summer kicked off with a bang as Japanese carmaker Toyota pulled the wraps off what is promising to be a very impressive interpretation of its longest-running nameplate, the Land Cruiser. And with the unveiling came a wealth of details that'll probably keep us busy throughout the day.
19 photos

We've already given you a general look at what the Land Cruiser has to offer on the American market, but we reckon a much closer look at the off-roader and what it brings new to the table compared to its predecessors wouldn't hurt.

This story is about the American-spec 2024 Toyota Land Cruisers, but before we really get into it we'll have a quick look at what the model has to offer in the carmaker's other major markets. And the highlights of these models are these.

On the European continent, the SUV will launch with a 2.8-liter diesel engine under the hood. In 2025 a version of it backed by a 48-Volt mild hybrid technology will become available. European customers in different countries on the continent will also have the choice to go for a 2.4-liter turbo, 2.7-liter, or 2.8-liter turbo diesel.

Europeans will get the Land Cruiser at first as a limited edition version, with only 3,000 of them to be made. It's unclear at this point exactly when the model will begin selling, or for how much, but Toyota promises to release more details in due time.

Over in Japan, where the Land Cruiser tradition runs strong, the focus falls on how the carmaker decided to market the new range of SUVs. The highlight of the offering is the Land Cruiser 250 Series, a model meant to take the family back to its origins.

And now, for the American market. As you know, for the past three years or so Toyota lacked the Land Cruiser from its offering here. The last such vehicle to be offered was the 200 Series.

For the new model year, and to properly mark the return of the nameplate to the States, Toyota will offer the Land Cruiser in three grades, namely 1958, Land Cruiser, and First Edition.

All of them are a bit smaller and narrower than the 200 Series (4.4 inches narrower and 1.2 inches shorter), and that's all because of the still new GA-F body-on-frame platform they're built on. A derivation of the Toyota New Global Architecture, it underpins other successful Toyota SUVs, including the Tacoma and Tundra.

In the case of the Land Cruiser, where high-strength steel with blanking and laser welds were used, the platform promises increased body and frame rigidity, and better handling,

Toyota says the 2024 version of the SUV is the first Land Cruiser to go for electric power steering, and the first to feature a new disconnecting anti-roll bar system. The SUVs (Land Cruiser and First Edition trims) also get a new front stabilizer bar disconnect as standard.

For off-road prowess, a new double-wishbone front suspension was devised. Backed by twin-tube shocks, the tech works perfectly in conjunction with the multi-link suspension with coil springs fitted at the rear.

The models' off-road capabilities are enhanced by a full-time four-wheel drive system and an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case. Also as standard there's the electronic locking rear differential.

If you were wondering what the new Land Cruiser can do in terms of going over rough terrain you should know the approach angle is of up to 31 degrees, the maximum departure angle sits at 22 degrees, while the breakover angle stands at 25 degrees.

The bodies of the 2024 Land Cruisers ride 8.7 inches (22 cm) off the ground, and their undersides can be protected by rock rails and steel skid plates.

Because Americans not only like to go off-road but are also suckers for towing things, the Land Cruiser comes with a tow rating of up to 6,000 pounds. That's achievable with the help of a trailer hitch that comes fitted as standard on all three 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser grades.

And now, for the hardware that makes it possible for the Land Cruisers to move, the engine. For Americans only one engine choice is on the table, and it comes in the form of the 2.4-liter i-FORCE MAX. That's a turbocharged four-cylinder unit backed by an electric motor and a 1.87 kWh battery pack into developing a total of 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. The fuel consumption levels of the unit have yet to be announced for now.

Toyota will launch the Land Cruiser on the American market in the spring of 2024, at first as the First Edition. These things will only be built in the first two months, and the production run is capped at 5,000 units.

Overall, seven exterior color choices will be on the table for the range, namely Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Underground, Black, Meteor Shower, Trail Dust, and Heritage Blue. The last two can be paired with a Grayscape roof.

As for pricing, Toyota was not specific, but it did promise an MSRP in the mid-$50,000 range. Like all other Land Cruisers, these ones will be built in Japan as well.

The square light model is much more cohesive. But as with everything these days, the dealer markups are going to be outrageous.

The 70 Series Land Cruiser is immortal, apparently. With four facelifts since its introduction in 1984, the 70 Series is like Toyota’s secret Mercedes G-Class. Unlike the G, unfortunately, most of the world doesn’t get the 70 Series; only Japan, Australia, and the Middle East enjoy the privilege of buying the massaged and carefully updated old Land Cruiser. But even fewer get to buy the ultra-cool three-door short-wheelbase variant announced with the 2024 facelift.

Yes, this is just a dream for those of us in the U.S. According to Carscoops, only folks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will get to order the short-wheelbase 70 Series, at least according to Toyota’s UAE website. Historically, the three-door variants have been available wherever the 70 Series was sold, but with recent crash and emissions regulations, the market has narrowed considerably.

That’s not to say Toyota won’t expand the domain of the three-door Land Cruiser. The automaker has made considerable effort to keep the 70 Series alive despite all manner of regulatory roadblocks. In 2015, Toyota stopped selling the truck in Japan due to crash regulations, while emissions laws have globally tightened. With this facelift, the truck returns to Japan thanks to improved crash safety. There’s also a new powertrain option, in the form of a 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder that outperforms the old 4.5-liter turbodiesel V8, though the V8 is still available for most of the range.

For the UAE, the short-wheelbase truck will be available with a 4.0-liter gasoline V6 and six-speed automatic transmission. There aren’t many options besides four matter-of-factly named colors (white, silver metallic, gray metallic, and beige), and just a single interior color option. It’s no frills, as a Land Cruiser should be. We’ll just have to enjoy the 70 Series’ retro-nouveau aesthetic from afar. At least the one we're getting next year, mechanically worlds apart though it may be, borrows inspiration from the proper place.

Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) has unveiled the new Land Cruiser "250" Series to the world, with the launch planned for the first half of 2024 in Japan.

A vehicle that allows people to go anywhere and everywhere and return safely, developed and refined over more than 70 years based on the actual usage situations of global customers

Launched originally as the Toyota BJ on August 1, 1951, the Land Cruiser series is now 72 years old. Immediately after its launch, it became the first vehicle to climb to the sixth station of Mount Fuji. From that time, it has fulfilled its mission of delivering safety and security to all types of people in places that can only be reached in the Land Cruiser. Developed and refined based on the actual usage situations of global customers, it provides reliability, durability, and off-road performance that allows people to go anywhere and everywhere and return safely. This concept has been passed down and evolved. With cumulative sales of about 11.3 million units in approximately 170 countries and regions around the world, it has supported the lives and livelihoods of people everywhere.

Until now, the Land Cruiser range has been divided into three different series-the Station Wagon that always showcases the latest technologies and has evolved into the flagship model (currently the 300 Series), the Heavy-Duty model with outstanding durability and off-road driving performance (the 70 Series), and the Light Duty model that provides ease of handling and comfort on an off-road base as a lifestyle and practical choice for customers (Prado).

250 Series, back to the origin and essence of the Land Cruiser

The Light Duty Series has tended to shift toward high-end and luxury models as the generations have evolved. In developing the 250 Series, then-President Akio Toyoda, who has the ultimate responsibility for product development, explained his basic approach as, "The Land Cruiser should be a car that supports people's lives and local communities, so the Light Duty model must return to the true form that customers are looking for." In response, the development team defined the concept as returning to the origin of the Land Cruiser. With the spirit of rebuilding the model, they created a simple and sturdy vehicle that can be trusted by customers to fulfill their lifestyle choices and practical needs.

The new 250 Series is a core Land Cruiser model with the same GA-F platform as the 300 Series to dramatically improve basic performance as an off-roader. It also comes with various powertrains to achieve even more powerful driving performance and environmental performance worthy of the Land Cruiser name. It was created in pursuit of unique Land Cruiser characteristics, incorporating interior and exterior styling that fuses traditional and modern in a functional package. The aim was to create a next-generation Land Cruiser with improved ease of handling and comfort for both on- and off-road driving, while also delivering class-leading advanced safety performance.

Even after the 250 Series is released, the Land Cruiser will continue to evolve, while meeting a range of social needs, as a trustworthy, reliable, and practical choice for customers worldwide.

Improved basic performance as an off-roader through adoption of the GA-F platform

With the same GA-F platform as the 300 Series, the new 250 Series has dramatically improved off-road performance. As a reliable and practical choice for customers, it has improved ease of handling and comfort for on-road driving as well.
  • Significantly increased rigidity50% increase in frame rigidity and 30% increase in overall rigidity
  • Improved basic suspension performanceImproved wheel articulation, which is an indicator of off-road performance that describes the ability of a tire to stay on the ground
  • Improved on- and off-road driving performance through adoption of the following systems

Various powertrains to achieve powerful driving performance and environmental performance worthy of a Land Cruiser

The 250 Series inherits the Land Cruiser mission of supporting the lives and livelihoods of people everywhere, while pursuing the reliability, durability, and off-road performance that is the DNA of the Land Cruiser. In line with Toyota's carbon neutrality initiatives that take a diverse multi-pathway approach, it also comes with various powertrains, including the first hybrid system for a Land Cruiser. These achieve powerful driving performance and environmental performance worthy of a Land Cruiser.

Functional package carries people and cargo safely in every situation

The 250 Series achieves good forward visibility through a low-set cowl and instrument panel top surface, which contribute to safe on- and off-road driving. It also employs a low beltline to improve visibility of road surfaces even on rough roads. While dramatically improving off-road driving performance on the traditional Land Cruiser wheelbase, this series has a shorter mirror-to-mirror width to ensure good maneuverability.

With the durability of parts and easy repairs in the event of breakages, the design also takes customizability into account to allow users to enjoy their Land Cruiser in their own unique ways.

Land Cruiser styling fuses traditional and modern

In a fusion of traditional and modern, interior and exterior styling on the 250 Series focuses on three keywords: "reliable" (reliability to withstand harsh usage conditions), "timeless" (timeless simplicity to remain a favorite), and "professional" (refined functional beauty common to lean professional tools).

Exterior styling employs horizontal lines to reproduce the unique Land Cruiser silhouette, while interior styling has shifted from a high-end, luxury ambiance to the feeling of true off-road functionality. Coupled with a sturdy and stable interior space, horizontal instrument panel, and switch shapes that are clear and easy to operate in a range of driving conditions, styling contributes to improved functionality even on rough roads.

Latest Toyota Safety Sense package

Toyota Safety Sense, the latest active safety package with advanced and improved functions, is standard on all new Land Cruiser grades. The range of detectable accidents has been expanded even further, enabling enjoyable driving with peace of mind.

After seeing these pictures I now prefer the round light model.

That said, for how much these cost, I'd rather just have the Lexus GX.
