And where does the Corolla come in? For all I could decipher is there is something about the Avensis. Then it goes on and refers to the cars Progres/Brevis/Altezza and a Hybrid system which I'm guessing they are going to share? I dunno, my Japanese sucks.

Why supercharge a 1.8L engine to make those numbers when you can build a 2.0-2.2L n.a. engine that achieves virtually the same figures? Is a 2.2L I-4 really bigger and heavier than a 1.8L+SC?
If you are going to add the issues associated with forced induction (reliability, noise, cost, etc), do it to increase the torque substantially (a la VW/Audi 2.0T or Subaru 2.0/2.5T).
