A-spec Review - Autoweek Dec 15, 2003

OK, here is the first A-spec review, got it in the December 15th issue of Autoweek today and it is also on line!

Nice review, and they even like the base TL WITH front wheel drive for a change! Quote - "Step on the gas in that car and you don’t even mind that the engine is driving the front wheels."

Yeah, and someone on TOV raised a good point: instead of coming straight from the factory, you have to buy the A-Spec kit, which means that you paid for the new tires on your new TL only to pay more for a set of new tires along with other upgrades. It's not a lot of money, but that's still money down the drain.

Nuy just what you want and can get it cheaper if you don;t like all of it. I think u can get it cheaper if you part out the WHOLE package anyways. Rediculous. Where is that steering wheel?

with the rsx-s a-spec, f you bought everything seperately and paid the going rate to have it installed, it would actually cost more than what they charge

I am very impressed. My biggest beef though is, you can't buy a new car with the A-spec parts replacing the stock ones. You end up with two sets of wheels, tires, springs, shocks, etc. Very annoying. But the results speak for themselves, and if Acura made 18" forged wheels etc etc available for the TSX I would spring for it.

Let's not lose focus on the A-Spec Package warranty. It has the same warranty as the new vehicle warranty: 4 years 50,000 miles. You can't get that from anything in the aftermarket.

Also if your put your own wheels and suspension modifications and your car starts pulling or something goes bad, you are on your own. With A-Spec it's dealer installed "factory OEM" performance parts with a warranty! There's a price to pay for that.

There is suppose to be an A-Spec TL at the LA Auto show...its a good time to get some interior shots. A TSX meet has been planned for 1/10th at the show.
