It loses any sense of cuteness when you start making it bigger. And I think its cute factor was its only saving grace.

From what some Scion-heads were telling me, the replacement xB would be a whole new design...not another rebadged JDM Toyota...not even the current Bb. It'll be interesting to see what Scion will do with the car that gave Scion it's face.

Supposedly takes cues from the t2b concept. Think the T2b looks like it could end up looking like the jdm bb in production form.

Here's something to add to the fire:

And here's the Daihatsu D Compact Wagon...
With the D-Compact Wagon, Toyota-owned Daihatsu has repackaged for Europe the US-market Scion xB and its Japan-market sister model, the Toyota dB. The 3800mm-long, four-door D-Compact Wagon has the same boxy looks as the US and Japanese small minivans. Daihatsu said the concept has a versatile seat arrangement and a spacious interior that should appeal to families. The concept may come to Europe as a production car.
And here's the Daihatsu D Compact Wagon...

Scion xA, xB Also Retiring - - SOurce: The Car Connection
The first two models from Toyota's Scion division are on their farewell tour. But unlike Cher, Toyota really means it: the Scion xA and xB will end production this year, in advance of two new models coming to the division in spring of 2007. "The xA and xB will always be very special models for us and have contributed greatly to Scion's success, but we're ready to move into our next product phase," said Mark Templin, vice president, Scion. The pair, on sale since June 2003, have sold more than 200,000 copies combined through July. The new models replacing the xA and xB will be 2008 models, Toyota said in a release.

Scion to retire xA, xB nameplates for new models
scion-xb.jpg
Scion will launch two new vehicles in spring 2007 to replace the current generation xA and xB, Toyota announced this week. The new cars will bear different names than the models they replace. "The xA and xB will always be very special models for us and have contributed greatly to Scion's success, but we're ready to move into our next product phase," said Mark Templin, vice president, Scion. "Scion is a laboratory for change and we will continue to experiment and evolve to meet the needs of our customers." xA and xB launched in California in June 2003 and completed their nationwide rollout in June 2004. Since their launch 72,011 xA's and 139,091 xB's have been sold nationwide through July 2006. [\lfn.com]
Kinda looking forward to the new designs.

I actually like the xB... looks like if I ever want to buy one, I'll have to buy used...
Looks like they sold almost twice a many xB's as xA's...
Of course Scion might come out with another "box on wheels" as a replacement...

I'm anxious to see what they're going to come up with for the US because from what I understand, we will not just be seeing the new bB here with a different name.
