From Autocar...
German Porsche specialist RUF showed the latest development in its plan to sell electric cars based on the Porsche 911 at Geneva - the RUF Greenster, which will go on sale next year from €180,000 (£160k).
The RUF Greenster builds on last year’s eRUF, improving the car’s power and range and cutting weight with new, lighter batteries. With 300kg cut from the drivetrain, the Greenster weighs around 1480kgs, much the same as a conventional 911.
The show car sticks with the eRUF’s single motor, with 270KW and 695 lb ft, but the production car will use a twin motor set up. Charging time using a 400 volt three-phase supply is claimed to be an hour, increasing to six hours with a conventional 240-volt domestic socket.
Acceleration is equal to a 911 Carrera 4, with a 0-62mph time of 5.0sec, and top speed is claimed to be 250km/h. There’s no word on the car’s range though, although a larger capacity battery pack will be offered as an option.
RUF has retrimmed the interior, with new seats and a new instrument pod tailored to the electric drivetrain.
