I'm surprised it doesn't look more like this:

Somehow I missed that

Even though your pic and the rendering look very similar, somehow the rendering looks better to me. I hope the RDX is a winner... the concept of a smaller, more nimble and fuel-efficient MDX is something that I would consider.

All I want to know is that the TSX is going to be offered with IMA at some point, no matter if I must wait a year or two, but I need to know this before I commit myself to the IMA Accord V6, which should still remain a duller ride than the sportier TSX, and with HID, what's more.

FCX is cute, but I'm not all that crazy about SU-whatever vehicles, I much prefer sedans.

I hope the actual RDX looks waaay better than that rendering. It's alright as a guess but seems too Pacifica meaning not Mini van looking but not SUV looking either.

And is C&D basing IMA and 2.4L off of the concept? There are days I wish Acura wasn't soo tight lipped about things.

Holy downmarket Batman. If it's based on the what 16-25k RSX and CR-V, this will be another hot seller, since it will be around 25k with probably NAV as the only option. Acura seems to want to compete where Honda, Toyota, Kia, Hyandai are.

Hmmm - given its size, and target market, it could actually be a good vehicle to replace my parent's aging 18 year old Civic Wagovan.

The IMA would be a great plus since they do mostly city driving and that should definitely help with the gas bill.

Mind you, the final MSRP will still be the final deciding factor. You can't get much for a trade-in on a 18 to 20 year old car nowadays.

The Oracle

250 horsepower, 4-wheel drive powertrain including:
o 2.4-liter, 16-valve, DOHC, i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine
o Innovative Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system
o 6-speed, close-ratio clutchless manual transmission

How about it Justin can you confirm the new picture?

Nothing new there. For years in Canada, Acura has been selling the EL, which is basically just a disguised Civic. But they will need to do this anyway to meet up with competition such as the Mazda 3 premium models who are racking up a nice list of equipment.

IMA is something that will distinguish them from the competition. But you won't sell a green car to people with enough money to buy SUVs or other gas-guzzling high-end vehicles. You have to sell it to those in search of economy. I'd say its a rather smart move.

Yep - the Oracle doesn't lead us wrong ... once again.

I bet we can pretty much COUNT on IMA for the TSX in the same config ... and it might even spring as model year '06 is my guess. So who's in for a 250HP IMA AWD TSX?

Justin - what say ye?

I'm not so much interested in the RDX as a new model but more for what it means for the TSX. I'm really liking the idea of AWD and IMA for the TSX but I still want my manual transmission. I don't think that clutchless manual would work.

I have the warped interpretation that Justin has already told us this.

Make that 250hp IMA AWD TSX a wagon and I'll be in it... in, say, 2007-9?? For me, Acura has time

I wonder if Arcticcl9 caught a glimpse a few weeks ago?

But didn't the Oracle also say that it would be based on the Accord platform? The article is still saying CRV...or are we going to see two new SUVs in the coming years? But hey, if it's based off the Accord platform, that's even better for us.

That would certainly be an intelligent move, but I doubt it. Honda probably isn't sure that this 'SUV fad' is worth investing in

I think Acura would sell more with another SUV in its lineup. Elevate the MDX to a higher level of luxury with a smaller SUV to cushion sales. I doubt Acura would've moved the TL up to a base prise of 32K if the TSX wasn't introduced. Can do something similar with the MDX.

I think you're right. Honda/Acura would sell more vehicles and get a bigger market share if they had more SUVs in their lineup. That's why Toyota/Lexus is doing so well...they have SUVs coming out of their ears.

It's interesting that this article says the RDX will be based on the CRV platform. The article in here: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9530 says the small SUV will not be built in the US which makes me think it might be based off the TSX and built in Japan.

...just a though.

Does anyone honestly think this is the look of the RDX?.... I mean this is a small minivan not a small SUV... as the U.S. market is leading Honda into more SUV's.. they are going to make it more SUV-like then minivan like.... it certainly would not attract the SUV crowd.... heck it looks kinda downmarket. I expect the RDX to look more like a baby RX330/300 and be priced starting just under 30,000... they are not going to price it at the same price-point as the TSX... SUV's pretty much always carry a premium price over a sedan not to mention, it will be a hybrid and AWD.

Just my 2 cents... maybe only worth 1 penny tho'.. where is our friendly neighborhood Acura-Man Justin to lead us?

B.

That is one of the worst photochopped jobs I have seen. The RDX will not look anything like that. Period.

Thanks Oracle, that's a relief, whew!! I'm looking forward to the RDX but the photochop looks to small and dorky.

Thanks for clearing it up.

I agree with you about the price point and more SUV-like design than minivan. I think it will follow the relationship the MDX and Pilot have and be a more stylish/sporty cousin to the CRV with more sophisticated hardware.
Justinjsw has indicated the 2.4L 4cyl with IMA and SMG 6spd, hopefully the new realtime 4WD highlighted with the recent Elysion will also make its way in to the mix.

C/D must have something against Acura for publishing those photos. I wonder what negatives they'll have for the next RL besides the lack of a V8. I hate that argument.
