Prior Design: R8 GT850 Widebody (based on Audi R8) news

Press release...

The Audi R8 doubtlessly cleared the way for the Ingolstadt car constructors to reach the sports car Olympus. Whether in the "small" V8 or the V10-version, the R8 convinces both with a noticeable look and spectacular driving performance. It plays two important trumps perfectly: its closeness to group brother Lamborghini Gallardo and its exotic role between the huge armada of Porsche 911 models.

The development of a new look for the R8 is certainly no easy thing. However, the specialists at Prior-Design took lots of time for it and now present a truly impressive result. The Kamp-Linfort tuners turn the "standard" R8 into a brutal PD-GT850 racing style car. Its outfit would fit the der Nürburgring Nordschleife as well. The front was entirely revised. A front apron with widenings and an integrated carbon spoiler was installed. Additionally, two air inlet covers were integrated that are applied with two carbon struts each. The motor cowl has an integrated air outlet with four lamellae. A set of new front mudguards ensure a much wider look. Prior-Design improved the air circulation along the vehicle sides by installing aerodynamically formed side sills that also optionally light the vehicle underbody with four LED lamps. The tuners offer the wide side cover in a carbon fibre alternative as well.

The tail area could have been taken off of a GT3-racing car. A massive tail spoiler and a tail bumper with lateral air inlets, as well as a Carbona application put a lot more power onto the rear axle. A set of tail widenings produces a powerful stance. The 24,900 Euros construction kit (plus paint job and assembly) for the R8 is completed by a stylish roof scoop.

In addition to the car body construction kit, Prior-Design also offers the matching wheel/tyre combination for the R8 now: a 3-part ADV1 Concave-wheel in 20 inch with Continental tyres in 265/30R20 and 325/25R20. The entire wheel set is at about 9,900 Euros. For another 2,699 Euros, Prior-Design also offers a special sports exhaust system with flap control. For the "small" 4.2 FSI, the power can be raised from 420 to 475 hp if the customer wishes (5,900 Euro). If you need more steam than that, use the compressor conversion with power upgrade to reach a full 565 hp.

By the way: If you don't like your car quite that wide, Prior-Design is currently developing an additional "narrow" version of the e Audi R8-Aerodynamikkits.

Didn't someone say last week that Prior was garbage? I thought it was these guys.

That said, lose the wing and I'm in with the V10 version.

There is some serious detail in that engine bay... I want to see a wing that moves up and down with speed.

A center exhaust would be killer on that set up.
