Is there any potential for future updates to the Bluetooth software (maybe to sync address books), or for other non-nav telematics?

It strikes me that there's room for improvement in the HandsFreeLink, the personalized key settings, and the audio user-interface. Given that these are simply software, will Acura be able to upgrade the software as part of regular servicing? I assume this will be done to the navigation system, but I'm wondering about the rest of the system.

Reminds me of the software updates to the Jaguar S-Type transmission that made it run substantially better...

 

I hope that's the case. The fact that you have to manually (by voice) 50 names to the TL's phone book is cumbersome.

 

Not only that but Toyota's Bluetooth implementation on the new Prius ($25K) looks to be better than Acura's. For example Toyota supports OBEX Object Push to move phonebook entries from the phone to the car. But to be fair Toyota does not offer voice commands for the phone.

Acura is getting a lot of milage out of the "tech" features on the TL, they need make sure they stay ahead of the competition.

 

Let's hope there are updates, one day that do not require the purchase of a new car!
