Actually, the considerable serial output of 557 PS in the current Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, should be quite sufficient for most uses. Should be; there is a surprising number of performance fans who can never get enough of such a potent vehicle. Posaidon will gladly take care of this wish and by targeted measures generate so many additional PS in the E-class that no wishes will remain unfulfilled at all: Almost 300 PS extra turn the E63 AMG "RS 850" into a hunter on the motorway that will hardly find its match in longitudinal dynamics.

This performance treatment is made up of several mechanical and electronic components: For example, two upgrade turbochargers have been installed in connection with a changed charging air cooling. Furthermore, the suction paths of the 5.5 litres V8-biturbo drive have been optimised and the original exhaust system has been replaced by completely new exhaust technology, including turbo downpipes, racing sports catalysers and flap control.

Thanks to fine coordination of the motor electronics, the drive output has now been increased to an incredible 853 PS by Posaidon, corresponding to an additional performance of precisely 296 horses. The torque, increased from 720 Nm to 1,300 Nm will render you speechless, as well.

The maximum speed is at 345 km/h, electronically limited. The gearbox and the rear axle also had to be optimised as resist the increased stress. In addition to the extreme development stage at 853 PS, the Posaidon specialists offer various other performance stages from 630 to 749 PS for all model series with M157 63 AMG biturbo motors, covering any customer wish.

Result: With the “RS 850” Posaidon proves how much potential there is in this drive, using it relentlessly.

E-Class: more than 1,000 HP in the Posaidon E 63 RS 850+

One thousand HP – for decades on end, this figure seemed to be a practically impenetrable barrier for road vehicles. Accordingly, it was a real sensation when, after many years of development, legendary sports car builder Bugatti presented the 1,001 HP and 1,250 Nm Veyron 16.4 hypercar in late summer 2005. The Veyron, costing around € 1.3 million, needed sixteen cylinders and four turbochargers to generate such incredible power. Now the Posaidon power specialists have demonstrated that this can also be accomplished with half as many cylinders and turbochargers, and at a fraction of the cost, with their E 63 RS 850+, based on the Mercedes AMG E 63 S from the W 212 series.

Despite having “only” eight cylinders and two turbochargers, the Posaidon engineers coax significantly more than 1,000 HP and a maximum torque of 1,350 Nm – electronically limited out of consideration for the drivetrain – from M 157 engine, which comes off the line with 585 HP and 800 Nm.

To do so, the Mülheim-Kärlich-based specialists enlarge the engine’s cubic capacity in increments from 5.5 to 6.2 or even 6.5 liters. Further, Posaidon installs upgrade turbochargers in combination with optimized, insulated intercooling, as well as a three-inch sports exhaust system connected directly to the turbochargers and featuring a valve control, including sport catalytic converters. Electronic optimization, including fine tuning on the in-house power testing station, is a matter of course.

However, even without increasing the engine’s cubic capacity, the Posaidon E 63 RS 850+ stays only a small, respectful distance away from the 1,000 HP barrier. The vehicle shown here, whose cubic capacity was left at 5.5 liters, achieves with the other upgrades an impressive 920 HP and 1,350 Nm!

Posaidon is compelled to optimize the AMG drive train at all RS 850+ performance levels. Hence elaborate reinforcements fortify the seven-speed sports transmission to withstand the forces working on it. The limited slip differentials installed on the front and rear axles can stand up to torques of up to 1,500 Nm without any problems.

The Mercedes experts lower the center of gravity on the E 63 by installing sport springs on the front axle and an electronic adjustment on the rear axle, which gives the large sedan a dynamic, crouching look on the one hand, while also making its handling more agile. The matte black ten-spoke wheel centers on the 9x19 and 10x20 inch AMG forged wheels go perfectly with the white, gray and black camouflage wrapping. They are fitted with high-performance 255/35ZR19 and 295/25ZR20 Continental tires. What is more, the characteristically shimmering elements in the factory-provided carbon fiber package blend in with the monochrome style, while the commanding saddles of the carbon-ceramic brake system are certain to attract attention thanks to their bright blue finish.

Posaidon also fits out the interior of the E 63 S with imposing, stylish upgrades. Considering the phenomenal engine performance, the fact that the speedometer goes all the way up to 380 km/h is by no means an exaggeration. A TV tuner lets you watch television even when the vehicle is moving, and Posaidon’s own speed trap update for the COMAND infotainment system safeguards against unpleasant surprises. The standard start-stop system can also be deactivated if desired.
