G6 PERFORMANCE COUPE
Pontiac ’s roomy new 2006 G6 coupe already has the looks and performance of a competition-inspired machine, so it doesn’t take much to boost the excitement factor. GM Performance Division built the G6 Performance Coupe to showcase how wild the 2+2 coupe could be with replacement body parts. Those parts include new front and rear fascias, new rocker panels and a large rear deck wing. Forgeline 19-inch wheels and racing-inspired Wilwood brakes complete the functional/stylistic additions.

I just don't like the hood scoops or the wing. They should've come out with the 270hp engine and 6 speed from the get go. It would've created more of a buzz than having Oprah give them away to her audience.

With that grille it looks like the bugs bunny-mobile, does it come with a giant carrot to stick in there?

That's the kind of cars Pontiac should be making across the board. Very nice, and it certainly looks good on paper. I don't like the wing, but the rest of the car is cool. They need to have a version like that made for the sedan.

3.9L V6? It's likely going to handle like crap. I'm rather impressed though. The regular G6 coupe looks better, but the specs impress me on this one. However, I haven't seen any fuel economy numbers yet. I'm willing to bet they are low, unless GM pulled the Corvette trick and made the transmission so that it forces you to upshift (or whatever they did, something to that effect), to get good numbers on paper.
