Pagani Zonda F Clubsport record beaten on the Ring!!!

Carscoop November 19th 2007

Yes, that’s 7 minutes and 22.8 seconds or 5 seconds faster than the Pagani Zonda F Clubsport (7:22.82 - see video here)! The car that managed to shame the Zonda is a 2003 BMW M3 CSL fine tuned by the owner Anders Fransson while the driver was Swedish racing star Richard Göransson. Dubbed “Loaded”, the M3 CSL is equipped with a Vortech watercooled supercharger that sends 532.7 HP to the rear-wheels. -Continued after the jump

"The changes made on the car are not that advanced really. It has a supercharger, a rollcage for safety, the weight has been reduced and it has other brakes and suspension. It is an amazing feeling to be able to beat supercars like the Koenigsegg CCR, Pagani Zonda F and Porsche Carrera GT with our M3 CSL," said Fransson.

What’s even more impressive though is that the car’s owner, Anders Fransson will sell the supercharged BMW M3 CSL through a unique bid via the site bid2aid.com. "It works in the way that the person placing the lowest unique bid gets the car. That means you could place a bid of 2 euro and get the car! It is a great chance for enthusiasts and others to get this very special car for a very special price! It is also a good way for us to repay everyone for all the support we have received in this project," said Fransson.

May the lowest bidder win –whatever than means…

Facts: "Loaded"

The car is approved and inspected by TüV. The engine, with supercharger, produce around 530 rear wheel horse power and is prepared by ESS Tuning in Norway. Brakes and dampers are upgraded and a rollcage has been fitted for safety. The weight of the car has been reduced with carbonfibre parts like the bonnet, fenders, bumpers, doors and roof. Aerodynamic aids like a rear wing and front splitter are mounted to make the car more stable at high speeds.

The modifications and fine tuning have been done by BMW-guru Tom Schirmer at Schirmer Race Engineering in Germany.

Post Next Zonda packs even bigger punch

From Autoexpress.co.uk...

Here are great new pictures of the scorching Pagani Zonda replacement. We spotted the Italian supercar as it took a breather from testing.

As you can see, it is an evolution of the existing car, which is nearly nine years old. At the front, soft curves replace sharp creases, while a wider grille has been fitted to aid cooling and improve the looks.

These changes to the bodywork should also improve aerodynamics, with greater high-speed stability and refinement the main benefits.

The cabin structure and glass area have been carried over from the current car, and the interior has received only minor changes, keeping the same mix of hand-stitched soft leather and bespoke aluminium controls and trim. But the big news is at the rear. Look closely and you’ll spot two gaping air scoops on top of the rear wings, together with a single duct on the engine cover.

These additions hint at a new powerplant instead of the current 547bhp 7.3 V12 supplied by AMG, Mercedes’ tuning arm. Heading the shortlist to replace it is the supercharged 5.4-litre V8 unit from the McLaren SLR, which produces up to 680bhp in the 722 GT version.

Combine that with the Pagani’s lightweight carbon fibre construction, and performance is sure to be blistering. The 0-60mph sprint is likely to dip below three seconds, and top speed should be comfortably beyond 200mph.

Although no launch date has been set for the new Zonda, the first showroom-ready examples are due in dealerships early next year.

Post Pagani Zonda Cinque Limited Edition Leaked Image...

Holy.

From Worldcarfans...

Pagani is renowned the world over for building some of the most incredible cars. Currently the Italian specialist marque has the Zonda F in production as both a coupe and roadster but has been planning to build a race version called the Zonda R. The Zonda R has not made it into production (yet) and remains a 1:8 scale model but design cues have been used to manufacture a road-legal version of it, which will be called the Pagani Zonda Cinque.

The Pagani Zonda Cinque, which translates as Zonda Five because there will be only 5 built ever, takes an already breath-takingly fast car to yet another level.

There is no official word from Italy yet, but we expect the power plant to remain similar to the Zonda F since we can't see how much more power can come from this 6.0 liter, 12 cylinder, 750 hp engine. Sources say that the price tag will be around the million Euro mark thanks to some aerodynamic alterations to the Pagani, the Zonda F can be yours for a mere Euro 800,000.

Post Details for Cinque Limited Edition...

Official info from Pagani...

It all started with a request from a Pagani dealer in Hong Kong, and now Pagani has released first details of the new Zonda variant called, Cinque. Only five units, which are already sold, will be built of the adapted street legal version of the Zonda R. It will be the first Pagani car to receive a sequential gearbox with controls on both the steering wheel and center tunnel. The Cinque is also the first Zonda to use a new body material, carbon-titanium fiber, specially developed for the Zonda Cinque, and will be used on future new generation models.

The body in this special silver, black, red livery is equipped with a longer front spoiler, new rear wing, central air intake on monocoque, and extra air intakes for rear brakes. The floor pan is flat with new rear air extractors improving downforce up to 750 Kg at 300km. Overall, the Cinque's total weight will be 20 Kg lighter then the F model.

Powering the Cinque is an AMG sourced engine which produces 678hp, 780 Nm of torque. Pagani doesn't give any more details, although we're quite sure its a tuned down version of the 750hp 7.3-liter engine from the Zonda R. Acceleration from 0-100 Km is 3.4 seconds; 0-200 in 9.6 seconds. Top speed is over 350 km/h.

For suspension the Cinque uses components made of magnesium and titanium. These components were developed using the latest technology from Swedish suspension specialist, Öhlins, in accordance to Pagani specifications. Wheels are APP monolithic wheels forged in aluminium and magnesium with special compound Pirelli PZero tires.

The interior gets leather coovered racing seats from Toora, 4-points seatbelts and steel roll-bars.

Technical Specifications:

- Mercedes Benz AMG engine, 678 hp,
- ECU, Traction control , ABS by Bosch
- Inconel/titanium exhaust system coated with ceramic

From Top Gear...

Aside from the slightly complicated technological business of making hypercars that won't explode or spontaneously combust, it must be a fairly simple job working in Pagani head office.

Make an insanely fast supercar. Make an even faster track-only version. Make the even-faster version road legal. And so on.

This is the Pagani Zonda Cinque, essentially the road-going version of the track-special Zonda R.

That's not 'Cinque' as in 'kitchen', but 'Cinque' as in 'five', because Pagani is building just five of these Enzo-rivalling monsters, and all have already been sold.

The Cinque develops 678bhp and 575lb ft of torque from a Mercedes-sourced six-litre V12 - good for a 0-60mph time of around 3.4 seconds and a top speed on the scary side of 217mph.

Thanks to a host of trick aero aids, Pagani says the Cinque creates 750kg of downforce at 186mph which, with any luck, should keep you firmly stuck to the road.

If you're tempted to make the prospective Cinque owners an Offer They Can't Refuse for their car, be warned: it won't come cheap.

Phrases like 'titanium monobloc wheels' and 'carbon titanium aerdoynamic diffusers' tend to add up to seriously big money, and the price tag on the Cinque is believed to be around £750,000.

Still, it's another awesome bit of machinery from the latest genuine entrant to the supercar clique.

How long until the next even-faster Zonda?

Maximum side-acceleration I'm assuming is the same as roadholding.... 1.45g?

But oh so sexy nonetheless.... If thats what it takes to get handling like that

Post Zonda F Spied...

From Worldcarfans...

Spy photographers were shocked when they saw this supercar prototype racing along an American country road with only a few small pieces of camouflage. Although the badges were covered in black tape, there was no doubt they were looking at the 2010 Pagani Zonda F.

Up front, this next-generation Zonda F will get an all-new front clip. In back, the rear quarter panels have been re-sculpted to allow for significantly increased airflow. The rear diffuser has also been redesigned and there is a totally new air scoop that sticks up from the middle of the engine cover.

Inside, we can see the "Zonda F" nameplate above several toggle switches. Other than a new shifter, we don't see any major interior changes. This Pagani has absolutely enormous 335/30/ZR20 Pirelli Pzero Rosso tires in back and 255/35/ZR19 tires in front. Sitting inside the wheels are equally enormous carbon ceramic brake rotors.

What power plant this supercar might be packing is a bit of a mystery. Pagani certainly wants to keep the motor a secret as the clear engine compartment panels were covered with black tape. Judging from the new, larger air intakes on this prototype, whichever motor resides under the cover obviously needs more airflow than the Mercedes AMG 7.3L V8 found in the current Zonda F.

There are rumors of the 5.4L supercharged V8 from the McLaren SLR 722 or perhaps the bi-turbo V12 from the recently debuted Mercedes SL65 AMG Black series providing motivation for the Zonda F. Whatever the motor, it should be good for 600-700hp. The Zonda F should start production sometime in the first half of 2009. If you want one, count on an price tag of at least $650,000.

Zonda R New Images Released

Holy fawk.

From Worldcarfans...

Forget the Diablo, this is the supercar the Devil would drive, particularly in black-on-carbon exterior with red stripe. Actually, the term supercar isn't even sufficient. More like “super ballistic ultra supercar” would be more suitable. So, now that we have established the Zonda R's status within the realm of motoring, one can certainly understand the importance when a few new photos of the beast emerge.

So besides looking absolutely sinister, why is the Zonda R so special? Well, besides blurring the lines of a homologated GT track car along the lines of the Ferrari FXX and Maserati MC12, the Zonda R is essentially a privateer racer ineligible for organized racing. Therefore, as a motorsport outcast, the Zonda R is relegated to the street. Carrying an AMG built 6.0 litre V12 producing 750 hp at 8000 rpm and 710 Nm of torque for the price tag of $1.2 million USD, the Zonda R is merely a play toy for the very wealthy. It's the type of excess every car enthusiast hates to admit lusting after.
