wow...they're offering a lot of high end equipment as options and standard features. Too bad with that design, it won't be much consolation.

sources inside Nissan say the SE-R will be based off the Azeal concept that was shown at the Chicago show last year... if they can get it looking anything like this, it will do quite well.

What's up with the front fender coming up over the door line? That has to be the most god-awful ugly idea since the Aztec's rear.

you hit the nail on the head - that's the key design cue that makes this car look like

I'm not surprised at the QR-series motors being phased out in favor of MR motors. If curb weight is kept to a minimum, 135hp/140 lb-ft + should provide decent power. However, one can only hope that Nissan produces an MR20DET for the new SE-R model and AZEAL coupe (200SX SE-R?).

i have to say that it is pretty damn unproportioned. the freaking wheel well is TINY for such a hugely rounded car. the wheels probably wont be able to get much bigger than that anyways.

the whole design is so terrible. imean, the altima design is definitly getting way too outdated and old, then they move that design into the maxima. where the maxima's design is getting pretty ancient by now.. but bring that design into the sentra?? come on now. Its getting really played out, just drop that design and come up with something new. murano/fx, 350Z/G35C, altima/maxima/g35x, M35/45, and now the sentra? remember, they also have to redesign the Q45 soon too.. ugh wonder how thats gonna turn out

Well it's a little off topic, but judging by Infiniti's last 4 designs and last 3 concepts, I'd say they're doing something right. If they do re-do the Q I have faith it won't suck. I think they proved they can make a killer looking sedan with the new M's.

That's what's so baffling about Nissan cars being so hideous. I realize it's not the same team of desginers but come on.

I thought they seperated the design teams. I'm hoping the Q will be brought to glory, too.

ugly...

Its the epitome of safety over appearance.

Thanks to SUV's and trucks, cars now have high beltlines, goofy looking A/B/C pillars, raised rear ends and stubby noses. I hate them all.

The Sentra is now on Nissan's site --> Nissan USA

While I'm not certain that I'd ever get the Sentra over the Civic or Mazda3, I have the feeling that it'll sell pretty well for Nissan and it definitely cant be mistaken for its Honda/Toyota/Mazda counterparts.

Should sell fine if it rides nice and is built tight. Its aimed towards the conservative market just like Nissan said it would be. I don't think the car looks ugly from any angle, its just not terribly exciting looking.

The car looks 10x better in these pics ^. If you just don't like the Maxima's styling, then you won't like this. But if you do, you'll love it. I think it looks hot. And the last pic, with the orange leather and Rosewood trim, is very nice.

This is a design that I am already getting used to. After two days of looking at it. Let's see it live now...

Just for the record, it's NOT as ugly as the Maxima and it's lines seem more like the Altima (which is not a bad thing IMHO).

Agreed, it looks far better there. They managed to disguise its worst features

Honestly I don't think it's that bad. Sure they could've done a nicer looking design, but I like the interior a lot better then the new Civic. Plus Bluetooth and Intelligent key are a first in its class. But the only thing that sucks is that you can't get navi on it.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the first picture - how much uglier than this was the first try design that the focus group hated? About a year ago Nissan management said they put off the new Sentra because the focus group didn't like the design. I guess things are relative - it's not as ugly as the one the focus group saw some time ago.

The newer pics make it look better. Interior is well laid out. I think people turned away by the Civic's interior would definitely like this one. Although I like the Civic's exterior better.

They Officially took a normal looking car and turned it into a cheap looking echo-like econobox.

Sentra Looks to Regain Small-Car Sales - - Source: The Car Connection

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn unveiled the sixth generation of the automaker long-established Sentra compact sedan. The new Sentra is built on the automaker's global "C" platform, and comes with a new 135-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, with either a six-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission.

The Sentra remains front-wheel drive, with a torsion-beam suspension setup in back, and stabilizer bars front and back. Electric power steering replaces the old hydraulic system. Inside, the Sentra offers a floating shifter in a mini center console that juts out from the bottom of the instrument panel - similar to the layout in vehicles like the Toyota Matrix and Lexus RX330.

Just a look at the interior appointments and options list confirms that Nissan is looking to pull buyers in with an upscale look and feel, as the Sentra is finally updated to reflect the rest of the revamped lineup. There's an overhead eight-disc CD holder and various other storage areas, and available features include a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, an audio input jack, and a Rockford Fosgate MP3 compatible CD-changer system. The rear seat has an innovative 60/40 double-fold system, and the trunk offers an innovative storage divider system. Leather upholstery is now available. Power locks and windows, air conditioning, full-length side-curtain airbags, and side airbags are all standard.

The Sentra is expected to start at around $15,000 and will go on sale late this year as a 2007 model.

Things that dont impress me for a car starting at 15k are the beam rear suspension and not having abs standard.

^ Looks good. Not the POS "econo car" that many have called it, IMO. I think the Versa will take over as the econo car in the lineup. I love the looks of the seats in this Sentra.

I guarantee you the one with THAT particular interior won't cost a mere $15000.
