Sentra / Sentra SE-R Nissan continues to refine the fifth generation Sentra sedan with styling enhancements and additional convenience features for 2005. The 1.8 S model becomes an even better value with the addition of cruise control, trip computer and new seat fabrics. The sport-inspired Sentra SE-R receives minor enhancements, including upgraded seat fabrics, a new shift knob on the SE-R Spec V and new exterior colors. Sentra is offered in two engine choices – a 126-horsepower DOHC 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine (1.8 and 1.8 S) and a 165-horsepower 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine (175-horsepower on SE-R Spec V). Compared to the mazda 3 sedan, the sentra, corolla, and civic sedans are outdated.

heyitsme, Nissan only has two 2-door cars on the market (G35C & Z). I doubt they'll expand on that with a compact coupe unless the market demands it. For this class, only the Civic has a coupe; the Impreza, Corolla and Mazda3 only have 4 dr variations. (But I do miss the days when Nissan had a 200SX, 240SX and NX coupes on top of having the Z32. :sad: ) Peace. |
I definitely like the look of this generation's SE-R. It is however, as said by many, very outdated. How does that even compare to the Z's and Maximas rollin' around?
-I've never liked the grille and rest of the front end since they've re-done it either. I know it's supposed to match the rest of the Nissan line up, but I think the "Skyline inspired" front end was a lot better than what they got goin' on right now. :( -One more time. New car needed. |
The last 2 Sentras have had awful styling. They need to go back to the 1st SE-R. that car was a ten best winner and loved by the automotive press.
More horsepower does not mean a better car. |

TOKYO -- The redesigned Nissan Sentra scheduled to arrive in 2006 will adopt the design of the Altima and Maxima and use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developed jointly by Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co. The car will be aimed at people in their 20s. The current Sentra is "conservative," says Shiro Nakamura, Nissan's chief designer. He says the new one will offer "dynamic and modern" styling. The updated model also will have a roomier cabin. "The Maxima, Altima and Sentra are three brothers," Nakamura says. "So you can see how the Sentra will change if you see how the Maxima and Altima changed." At the Detroit auto show in January, Nissan will provide clues to the new Sentra. But he declined to say whether it will be a drawing or a prototype. The Sentra is Nissan's No. 2 seller in the United States. For the first 11 months of this year, the model sold 97,940 units, up 14.4 percent from the year-ago period. The current base Sentra is powered by a 1.8-liter engine. The Sentra SE-R with a six-speed manual transmission uses a 2.5-liter engine. Nissan also plans to introduce into the United States a small car that will be positioned below the Sentra. The car, scheduled for 2007, is expected to appeal to buyers aged 20 to 25 who would pay about $13,000. It may be the next generation of the Japan-market Nissan Cube. |

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn confirms that the next Sentra will arrive in the U.S. next year, but not without some last-minute tweaking. The Associated Press reports that Ghosn says the Sentra has been delayed by a few months because, in consumer clinics testing the new car, the company did not get "the kind of reaction we were expecting." Ghosn added that the company isn't stopping with a new Sentra; it could field a car even smaller for the U.S. market within three years. However the company still will focus on horsepower - because, as Ghosn says, even with rising gas prices, "Some consumers just don't care… they just want to enjoy their product." |

Would be cool to see, like with the 2005 altima, the maxima getting a completely new interior and grill for 2006. Seems to be nissans trend, lets hope so. Would make the package of a manual under 30k fullsize all that more attractive.

Interesting that a company throwing together and sending out new models every two weeks would take so long redesigning the cheap model, and the one that needs it most.

Nissan Bluebird Sylphy
In Japan, Nissan has introduced new generation Bluebird Sylphy. The last generation Bluebird Sylphy was an upmarket version of Nissan Sunny. Now it returns to an independent line and is positioned clearly above Tiida, the successor to Sunny. While Tiida sedan measures 4395 mm long and 2600 mm in wheelbase, Bluebird Sylphy measures 4610 mm and 2700 mm respectively, although both cars share the same MacPherson strut and torsion-beam suspensions. Unlike Tiida, Bluebird Sylphy is available in sedan form only, which is the favourite body style in Japan and USA. Undoubtedly, it will be sold as a successor to Sentra in North America. From the pictures, the Bluebird Sylphy looks far more upmarket than its predecessor. Its exterior design has some hint of Teana (Cefiro) and Skyline (Infiniti G35), but somewhat bulky due to the high waistline. Inside, the cabin design and material quality seems rather low rent, fail to live up to our expectation for the "Modern Living" philosophy that Nissan promotes. However, this place should be spacious. Nissan claims it has the longest cabin and the biggest boot (504 litres) in its class. Besides, it offers 680 mm rear legroom, more than many Japanese luxury sedans. Upmarket features include power adjustable driver's seat and speed-sensitive electric power steering. Power comes from either a 133hp 2.0-litre MR20DE engine or 109hp 1.5-litre HR15DE engine. Both drive the front wheels via Xtronic CVT to save fuel. The MR20DE is particular tuned to deliver a flat torque curve, with at least 90% peak torque from 2000 rpm. This mean the driver doesn't need to rev it hard, thus reduce fuel consumption in daily driving. I guess the MR/HR motors will replace the short lived QR motors in the B15 Sentra. Either way, the B16 is a definite improvement in style over the B15. :thumbsup: I DO want to see the next SE-R though.....hopefully a 250hp+ MR20DET w/ATTESA E-TS!! :wish:

If the make an exterior more in line with the Max and Altima, as opposed to the G and M, then it's a good idea. The interior looks great, and it's the right size

This will definitely be one of the larger compacts in market. It's the same size as the Jetta, and very clost to the TSX.

The interior of this car falls right in line with the 2007 Versa sedan, but I think the conservative exterior would make the car another sales flop and goes against Nissans sporty image. Can imagine it will end up looking like a mini 2006 Altima.
