New RL news at vtec.net

I understand that we have more vehicles per capita but I am being told by our DSM that tsx sales are very disapointing across the whole province. I have also been told from sales people at terrace gate Acura, Sherway Acura and Acura 2000 that TL sales are not what we as sales people were told it would be like. I was told stories of the 99 TL being sold out for a year. We recently experianced that when the Tl first arrived in Oct and Nov and the MDX has been sold out for at least 6 months. I guess I am hopeing that more media of the new RL will create some more traffic in our stores.

sure sales are disapointing in canada, its all relative. The fact that Canada got more per capita means that they expected to sell more . SO while Canada is not selling as much as expected, I"m not so sure that means they are selling more poorly than the US. I think its more about not selling as expected.

the tsx has a "built to sell price" as we are told. I think weither you buy one here or there its cheap. Plus you have the color we can't get and we aren't allowed to use the a-spec logo anymore so you have allot going for you.

Alrighty, this really isn't anything new. The redesigned RL will come at the end of 2004, most likely in the Fall, like the TL and Accord debuts.
The company has said it will fully redesign its Legend luxury sedan by the end of 2004. It will release a bigger minivan than the Odyssey around May, Honda President Takeo Fukui said in a separate interview.

That would be pretty sweet if they could bring both the Integra and Legend names back into the lineup, but I think the chances are Kate Moss slim to none.
It's surprising that Acura hasn't stirred up much press and public interest about RL up to now.
Junkster, who loves the Legend name... classy.

I would so love to see the Legend name come back, I think that in itself, would boost sales. However, they aren't going to be doing that anytime soon. The article was refering to the RL as the Legend because that's what they call it in Japan.

Yeah, the Integra was the last Acura model to carry a name that isn't alphanumeric.
Anyway, I can't wait until the NY auto show! The new Audi A6, Cadillac STS, Lexus GS, Infiniti M35/45 will all be there. That's plenty of new competition for the upcomng RL. From the pics of the STS I've seen so far, it's not a strong contender but it'll most likely be the best seller since it wears the Cadillac badge. The GS looks odd, IMO. The Infiniti M35/45 we've already seen wearing the Nissan badge - might be the sleeper hit.

I will trust the Oracle, since he's been pretty heads on about most of the things he says.
So if we're to see a RL A-spec, this car isn't a plush luxo-cruiser at all, now is it? Hmmm... interesting, very, very interesting.
Side q for the Oracle: Is Honda/Acura planning any special financing on any of their vehicles in the near future? Sorry, but have to ask since I'm in the market, and AHF has nothing going on anything I'm interested in right now.
Junkster, who wonders if the RL met Justin's expectations.

I just gotta ask, hopefully you can answer - would you say the interior is sporty/luxo like the TL or just luxo (i.e., wood veneer, no metal accents)? The "stunning interior" comment from vtec is killing me.

Ummmmm..................Isn't the auto set to open on the 7th of
April?
It 's opened on the 7th and 8th, to the PRESS. Then the 9th to the 18th, to the public. Isn't Jason considered a "PRESS" person? Isn't today the 31st of March?
Hey, just asking.
Sounds FISHY to me.

Acura should have a teaser like Infiniti has on its web site. At least that would provide a little show to go with with Justion's words.
Biker, whose short list of a potential future car looks like gocubsgo55's.
2005/6 Infiniti M35, Lexus GS300 (will not be 330), BMW535 (fading fast), BMW 335 (if big enough), Cadilac CTS (also fading), Infiniti G35 (if the new interior is OK), TSX.

BTW, if you do a search for RL at this site:
http://www.wieck.com/public/index.html
There might be some pictures posted right around the time of the debut in NY (maybe even earlier). The new GS pictures showed up the same day as its debut in Detroit.
Lots of good TL and TSX pictures in there as well.

I read what was written in vtec.net and some of the features listed are incorrect and they do not have features listed that will be in the RL.

RL A-Spec will not come with a body kit. It's 1,500.00 less than the TL A-Spec.

So when again can you give us some more solid info Justin? Did you take any pics BTW that you plan to share with us before everyone else gets a look?

Justin, one more question, AWD yes or no?

Ah, thanks domn, I knew I was misreading that somehow.
As for AWD, this is from the carconnection.com:
Acura RL And Lincoln Sedan To Offer All-Wheel-Drive
The redesigned Acura RL, which debuts later this year, and a new front-drive Lincoln sedan due to hit showrooms next year will offer all-wheel-drive as an option, according to executives familiar with the product plans. As horsepower increases in front-drive sedans, engineers are telling their masters at the OEMs that torque steer is reaching the outer limits of desirability. The answer: offer all-wheel drive in at least the upmarket models with the most powerful engines. Honda and Acura offer AWD in their SUVs, such as the Pilot, MDX, and Element. The RL would be the first Honda passenger car to offer power to all four wheels. Likewise, the Lincoln sedan, based on the shared platform and architecture of the Mazda6, which also shared by the forthcoming Ford Futura, the next Lincoln Aviator and a Mercury sedan, will offer an all-wheel drive option. Ford believes that AWD will be an increasingly popular option on sedans, and is also offering the system, developed by Volvo, on the Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego. -Jim Burt

Thanks domn.
Bytheway, I have this nagging feelin deeep inside that
tells me, somehow, we are gonna be in for a big surprise
from Acura. And I'm not talking, designwise. We all know
that it's gonna look like the TL and TSX. It's the powertrain.
Everybody is expecting a V6, 300hp, with AWD. This nagging
feeling tells me that Acura is gonna drop a............................
are you guys ready?............................................ ..................
V8, with more than 300hp in the RL.
It's just that Honda is so tight-lipped about this car, that gives me this feeling.
