MT Mag Comparo: 06 MX-5 vs 06 Solstice

Dec edition of the mag, the MX5 won the overall comparison, some of the performance numbers were:

0-60

MX-5= 6.6
Sostice= 6.7

1/4 mile

MX-5= 15.1
Sostice= 15.3

60-0

MX-5= 113ft
Sostice= 117ft

600ft slalom

MX-5= 66.5mph
Sostice= 66.1mph

Weight

MX-5= 2476 lbs
Sostice= 2878 lbs

Base Price

MX-5= 24,995
Sostice= 19,995

Tested price

MX-5= 25,495
Sostice= 23,785

Solstice just needs some better brakes....still my top choice for a good affordable roadster.

Thats the base price of the miata grand touring model. The Mx-5 starts at 22k, the club spec starts at 21k.

I'd rather get the Solstice personally. I'd wait until the SC version though

I'd take a Solstice first out the two; but I'd really wait for the Sky.

I'd take the Solstice too. Far better interior than the Miata, especially the home depot orange interior.

Gotta say the MX5 is a clear winner as a drivers car, every magazine that has done a comparo says it is hand down a better car. Hard to be the king at its own game, the MX5 is a car Colin Chapman would appreciate though he would reduce the weight by half a ton.
