You can still drive one, I promise that I won't laugh.
Its a serious car.

If Canadian STi pricing is any indication ($47K) This thing will be $50K CAD.

Not a 5-speed because it's not an MR, I assume.
Still has a horribly fugly rear end. Looks like it belongs on a Mirage or something. Everything else is great though.

Styling is just over the top for me. The car doesn't fit into my overall style. I'm sure they are a blast to race and such, but I just don't do that much these days.
I mean don't get me wrong if I happened to be at a road course and someone said "Hey take my Evo out for a spin", I'm not going to turn him down. Just saying I wouldn't buy one.

I just can't see Mitsu making the base Lancer as nice looking as the one on the left above, especially after seeing them in the current body style

Its definitely not an Evo.
The one on the right is the standard Evo from most accounts.

I find it funny that people get these high-strung cars which were rally-bred just to do donuts in a wet or snow covered parking lot.
Incredible cars but targeted to potential buyers which I am too old (29) to be a part of.
... plus I speak perfect english and my fiance is too hot and classy for an sti or evo. That's why we bought an RDX. =P

I speak english myself and have an MBA. To date, I've had an 03 Evo and an STi.
If your fiance is so hot and classy, you should be parking her ass in a new Range Rover not an entry level RDX.

I got turned off by Ranger Rovers when I saw a literally smoking one on the side of the road from a busted radiator. Fairly new too.
I almost bought an evo/sti last winter but just couldn't picture myself or my fiance in one (and i'm a pretty big Rally fan) When I poke fun at the demographic of these cars , I'm talking about a good portion of the owners in the NYC/tri-state area. 85% of the time I come across one of them I see a stereotype driving the vehicle. And you being a new yorker, I'm sure you've seen tons of them in Flushing and know what I'm talking about.

You sound to be pretty metro sexual and quite biased overall. Including your "finance" in your post like your are being watched or should I say "whipped". You've done it twice now, this post and the latest.
You and your fiance can speak all the perfect english you like to include yourself with the rest of the middle class buying an Acura Vs the Real Class of the BENZ. People owning EVO's must have class because their loan ends up being quite the same as the RDX's.
I find it funny that people get bent out of shape when regular cars make luxury cars seem rediculous.

I think this is a huge improvement over the current Evo, but I have to agree with a few of those that posted here that sated this isn't their style.
I'm getting closer to 30, and I can't see myself driving around in a car like this anymore. It's weird how taste changes over time, as 5-10 years ago, I would have been dying for this car, and now a car like the 335 coupe or new CTS gets me more excited.
I know exactly what you mean as I'm from Whitestone and it does have a certain stereotype associated with it. Hell, my 29 year old friend had a 2004 Evo, and just sold it to get a new G35, as he was getting a lot of shit for driving a car like that to work. You can say those people are ignorant, but that doesn't change the people sometimes judge you by what you drive.

Finally a break to for canada ... EVO is coming to CANADA!
Mitsubishi, the Lancer and the Future
Detroit, Michigan. Larry Futers, who worked for Volvo for 10 years before joining the Mitsubishi bandwagon, is confident in the times ahead. He clearly stated to me that the old question of whether Mitsubishi had a future in Canada is moot and dead in the water. Mitsubishi is no different than Toyota or Chrysler; they are part of the Canadian automotive landscape.
Mr. Futers is confident in Mitsubishi's success.
His self-assurance stems from the fact that he is extremely proud of the latest vehicles from the Japanese brand. Both the Lancer and recently introduced Outlander represent real competition to the established nameplates in their respective categories.
When it comes to value, quality and pricing, he knows that his Outlander can easily duke it up with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. In the hyper-competitive compact segment, the admitted targets are the Honda Civic and Mazda3. Again and without flinching, his tone of voice indicates that the 2008 Lancer will be a real threat to the aforementioned cars.
As Mr Futers puts it, people will want to buy the Lancer and it will not be for any single reason. They will want one because of what the Lancer is and where it comes from. Mitsubishi has a long standing relationship with performance be it through the World Rally Championship or through magazines and movies that feature tuners cars; since the beginning of the Century, the Lancer EVO has been a favourite amongst drifters and track-day enthusiasts.
This is only one element. The others will be value, as mentioned above. The base pricing of the Lancer will be set below that of the Civic and the 3 all the while offering more amenities.
Lastly but perhaps most importantly, the Lancer's styling. The new sheetmetal, lines, wheels and aggressive light designs will surely attract those that want something that looks hip. And the bonus, which I added, Mitsubishi cars are generally reliable modes of transportation.
As for trims, Mr Futers indicated that there will be a few specific editions of the car that will be introduced over the coming 24 or so months. This means we will be able to expect a Ralliart version, perhaps a Sportback and, most importantly, an EVO.
Yes! We Canadians will finally be able to purchase an EVO. The Prototype X, unveiled during the Mitsubishi Press Conference, is 90% representative of what will be available in showrooms. I love it!
The Lancer will make its first Canadian public appearance and the Montreal Auto Show.

I like it, much better than the current EVO but I'd still never buy one because it screams "pull me over!"
What are the lights in the bumper vents? Fog lights? Markers? They look like they could be LED.
