Update: New rendering of Mercedes’ 2010 E63 AMG

Updated with new rendering.
Mercedes’ next-generation E-class has again been spotted in testing and this time we have the most revealing shots of the car yet as well as a new rendering. The depicted model is in fact the high-performance AMG E63, given away by the exposed rear bumper with quad tailpipes and pizza tray sized perforated brake discs with oversized calipers.
Just as Mercedes did with the recently revealed SL facelift range, the new AMG version of the E-Class should be launched alongside the regular sedan at next year’s Geneva Motor Show in March. Despite current concerns about global warming and a possible end to the horsepower war between Germany’s in-house tuners, the new E63 will continue with the potent hand-built 6.2L V8, although the rest of the car’s mechanical package is expected to have been given a major makeover.
Variations of the engine will develop upwards of 670hp in cars like the SL63 Black Series and SLC supercar but for the new E63 power levels will likely be restricted to around 550hp to keep it in line with rivals such as the 580hp Audi RS6. Engineers will be focusing more on improve handling and chassis strength, borrowing a number of features from the new C63 AMG.
The new E63 is tipped to receive a widened front track and unique steering ratio compared to the regular E-Class as well as a MacPherson strut and multi-link active suspension. The car will also be distinguished from its more regular stablemates by aggressive front and rear bumpers, forged alloy wheels and a set of sporty side sills.

MB didn't stray far from the very basic quad headlamp design that it pioneered years ago, but it still looks good. I like the CGI. I'm more curious about what the interior will look like.

Mercedes-Benz: E-Class Coupe news **AirCap Technology for 2011 Cabrio (page 3)**
From WCF...
In 2009 Mercedes will launch a successor to the Mercedes CLK which Daimler will move up a notch to the E-Class level. The underpinnings will still be provided by the current generation C-Class, but with a style reflecting very much the new E-Class. We will see a preview of this styling in person in just a few weeks when Mercedes unveil the ConceptFASCINATION. The new direction of its coupe is an attempt by Mercedes to return the E-Class to the legendary status once achieved by the W124 E-Class generation.
As the C-Class is providing the platform we are likely to see a similar engine range which will undoubtedly include Bluetec diesel options and a hybrid model – an area which will account for a large proportion of the German automaker's sales in the future.
These shots caught by our spies show the E-Class coupe continuing its development and has shed a little more disguise. Close inspection on some of the styling lines show the similarities between this and the ConceptFASCINATION.

haha @ knock-off A5 camo.
After the C Class, i have high hopes for this car.
Yes, it does look meaty. And yes, it needs a DROP or a aero kit to make the car have, or appear to have, a lower stance.

I'm really leaning toward the new E320 Bluetec as a replacement for my Accord. I was down at the Benz dealer a few days ago. drove one.
now i've driven diesel trucks 100s of times. it was smoother, quieter, quicker(now it's not a AMG but it's about a 15 second 1/4 mile car) gets 35 mpg, overall I'm REALLY impressed with what Benz did as far as technology with that Bluetech diesel. good work boys.

1. car in red is a photoshop (the secondary headlights are a copy and paste job on the projectors...they are identical and at the same angle)
2. this is a bullshit attempt to use this gen. to phase the lights into one housing for the future gen. ala S and C. just do it now!
3. new tails across the board look like crap.

More towards the topic, I really don't like the frontend styling of these newer generation MBs. It seems like a lot of automakers are struggling with frontend design concepts that are even remotely appealing.

Mercedes News: E-Class Coupe
Mercedes E-Class Coupe in Black Almost Free of Camo - worldcarfans
Here's another series of spy shots on the coming E-Class. These are of the coupe version, which will be a very important model for Mercedes since they have discontinued the CLK badging and essentially turned the CLK into this E-Class Coupe.
German automakers are very reserved in their styling and prefer the concept of (very gradual) evolution rather than revolution in updating models. This shot reveals that philosophy in action. But the car does appear to have a greater curve along the horizontal length of the body and a more muscular hunch above the rear wheels.
The E-Class Coupe will likely come with, amongst Mercedes standard lineup of engines, Mercedes' latest 204 hp turbodiesel Bluetec, an AMG version with the 550 hp V8, and may also include the BlueHybrid that Mercedes is developing.
The new E-Class sedan will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show next March. Other variants, including this coupe, will likely only be first unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show next September.

As the article says this is just the CLK replacement. So whatever the CLK competes with now will continue in the future.
With this name maybe this should be moved/merged with the E sedan thread.

I've always thought the CLK WAS simply the coupe version of the E class
