Mercedes-Benz: AMG Vision Gran Turismo news **Collaboration with Cigarette (page 1)**

Press release...

For the new PlayStation® 3 racing game Gran Turismo® 6, the Mercedes-Benz designers have developed the visionary concept of a super sports car – the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo. Extreme proportions, sensual contours and intelligently implemented high tech blend to form a body that visually brings to life the breathtaking performance of 430 kW (585 hp) and 800 Nm of torque. As a 1:1-scale model, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo is celebrating its world premiere on 19 November 2013 at the opening of the new Mercedes‑Benz Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California. The super sports car with its hallmark Mercedes gullwing doors will be taking to the virtual racetrack when the new racing game goes on sale in December 2013 – as the first of the "Vision Gran Turismo" series of vehicles.

To mark the 15th birthday of the popular Gran Turismo® series this year, Kazunori Yamauchi, Producer of Gran Turismo series and President of Polyphony Digital Inc., called upon the world's leading automotive manufacturers and design studios to look forward into the future. Using the theme "Vision Gran Turismo", these creative teams were to develop concept models which give a unique insight into the further development of the automobile. As virtual vehicles that nonetheless function just like a real car, the visionary concepts will be gradually unveiled in and integrated into the new game Gran Turismo® 6 through online updates.

Extreme proportions and variable LED radiator grille

"By virtue of its proportions and expressive appearance, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo embodies the brand's defining design philosophy of sensual purity in a unique way. The design of this concept car reflects to extreme effect the perfect symbiosis between emotional, sensuous contours and intelligently presented high tech," says Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design Daimler AG.

The sports car proportions that are a typical Mercedes feature have been reinterpreted: the long bonnet has a flowing transition into a compact greenhouse offset to the rear, which takes the form of an aerodynamically efficient water drop to descend slightly at the rear, where it rests on the rear end with broad shoulder contours. The dynamic aura is accentuated by an extended, dramatic side contour and a pronounced bulge to the wheel arches, which blend into the low-slung, muscular bodyshell. The angled headlamps, with their colour scheme and determined look, convey a sense of sportiness and readiness to leap forward. This impression is reinforced by the bonnet with its expressive forms and motorsport details, such as the release catches on the bonnet and the fuel cap, for example. The red-glowing contour lines on the lower part of the vehicle create an effect similar to that of exterior ambient lighting and stand out from the silver-painted bodywork. This makes the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo look even more aggressive.

Another eye-catching feature is the radiator grille – a reinterpretation of the wide Mercedes-Benz sports car grille with central star. Its shape is reminiscent of the legendary 300 SL racing car of 1952. However, instead of classic louvres the grille of the show car features exclusively LEDs. The variable LED grille with different light patterns is a further development of the diamond grille introduced with the new A-Class.

Purist interior dedicated to speed

The exterior design, which is systematically and passionately geared to motor racing, is congenially mirrored in the interior of the two-seater. Inspired by the Formula 1 cockpit, the red integral sports seats blend into the black flooring of the footwell to form a protective shell. The form of this flowing, sculptured shell suggests enormous forward thrust. The dashboard also creates an equally dynamic effect. It has been designed in the form of two gullwing doors which are positioned on each side of the steering column. As a result the actual doors themselves appear to be an extension of the instrument panel.

The central display is optimally positioned in the driver's field of vision: it takes the form of a glass surface floating directly above the racing steering wheel with its shift paddles, and shows all the relevant information such as road speed, engine speed and operating temperature as required. Operation is by rocker switches in the centre of the dashboard and in an overhead console, like in a jet. The steering column visibly penetrates the firewall to the engine compartment, creating a visual connection between the driver and the heart of this super sports car, the AMG V8 front-mid engine.

Intelligent lightweight construction and authentic racing car sound

The AMG V8 biturbo engine delivers an exceptionally agile response to even the smallest movements of the accelerator. It develops 430 kW (585 hp) and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. With an aluminium spaceframe body and components in carbon fibre, the material of choice in motor racing, the Mercedes‑Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo tips the scales at only 1385 kilograms. That amounts to around 2.4 kilograms per hp – an unrivalled figure in the super sports car segment, and one that guarantees exceptionally dynamic performance. Excellent deceleration values and fade resistance at the highest level are ensured by the AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system. The AMG sports exhaust system with eight tailpipes integrated into the rear end provides a powerful accompaniment whenever the car accelerates, and ensures an unrivalled motorsports sound experience. For fans of Gran Turismo® 6, the Mercedes-AMG sound specialists have created a powerful, sonorous exhaust note that authentically celebrates the V8's love of high engine speeds.

It's a concept car, so in some ways it should be outrageous, but I think it shows a tremendous amount of creativity and has beautiful lines.

Hate the Infiniti Sea Creature front end design.

Everything else is pretty cool.

The interior shots don't do anything for me. But exterior looks great from some angles, a bit odd from others.

1. AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept

In person, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept looks like a pit viper made of quicksilver and it sounds like a roaring lion. Lucifer himself might struggle to play a crueler trick than Mercedes has by building something so attractive, only for onlookers to know that they will never drive it. The AMG-built V8 pushed out 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.

Thankfully, the thing will appear in Polyphony Digital’s upcoming Gran Turismo 6 racing simulator. Best of all, the PlayStation 3 is pretty cheap these days, so if you’re dead-set on “driving” this car, it’s very affordable.

Mercedes-Benz AMG unveiled a life-size replica of its AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept at the 2013 LA Auto Show. The AMG wizards created the car as a virtual-only racer for the new Gran Turismo 6 video game.
<article style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: 1.71429; font-size: 14px; vertical-align: baseline; display: block; color: rgb(40, 40, 40); width: 625px; clear: both;" itemprop="articleBody" class="single-post" id="content"> Although we knew it was only a plastic model of the car, we were in awe of its beauty and hoped and prayed that someone would build the thing, as we desperately wanted to drive it.

Shockingly, our prayers have been answered – but not by Mercedes AMG. Instead, a small coachbuilder in Florida will build five of the cars with one already spoken for. Found on James Edition, the real-life Vision will be based on the 2014 SLS AMG GT but with a body made completely from carbon fiber, which, apparently, will decrease the weight of the package by 200 pounds.

In Gran Turismo, the AMG Vision is powered by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 that makes 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The SLS GT – and now the real-life Vision – will be powered instead by a 6.3-liter that makes 583 hp and 479 lb-ft. Yes, it might be slightly less powerful than the dour AMG men originally planned. From an auditory standpoint, however, it’s a huge upgrade. The SLS’ V8 sounds like someone is trying to summon the devil with dynamite. It’s rather splendid.

Although Mercedes never said how fast the AMG Vision would go 0-60, the SLS GT will do it in 3.7 seconds. With a lighter weight body, it should do it a smidge faster.

What will the in-the-flesh AMG Vision cost you? $1.5 million. But, for that, you get wheels that are “custom forged by world famous wheel designer ADV.1 The interior will be sightly [sic] modified to the customers color request. The car will have a chrome paint job and with have a retractable rear spoiler and custom exhaust.”

I know $1.5 million feels like a lot of money for a chromed-out AMG with a new body bolted on. Think about it this way, though. If you get one of the five AMG Visions, you’ll finally be able to get that racecar bed you’ve always wanted because your car will be so hot that women will sleep with you regardless of your nerdy bedroom furniture.

If that’s not worth $1.5 million, I don’t know what is.

From Motor Authority: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...ant-to-buy-one

Mercedes-Benz unveiled its wild Gran Turismo Concept at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. This is the automaker's vision of motoring in the future, and it's a vision we can get behind.

Unfortunately, the Gran Turismo Concept is just that--a concept vehicle that won't be built, well, ever. At least not by Mercedes-Benz directly.

However, it appears that some enterprising fabricators are looking to produce the Gran Turismo Concept, and it could be in your garage if you're ready to fork over $1.5 million.

Per the listing on JamesEdition, the car will be built using the 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT as the base vehicle. From there, the body will be formed using carbon fiber and ADV.1 will create wheels to mimic the look of those found on the concept vehicle. A carbon-fiber body will help reduce the weight of the SLS AMG GT, and the listing says customers can specify custom changes to the interior of the vehicle.

Just five will be created, and one is already under contract. The listing states that two will go to Europe, two will wind up in the Middle East, and the final car will make its way to the United States. We're extremely curious to see how this project turns out. If it winds up looking like the Gran Turismo Concept then we may just declare that this is money well spent.

Well... once you juice up the power a bit to match the wild looks.

Cuz, honestly, I think that sort of info goes in there. Or it will be lost in here as this thread grows.

I doubt they will get the "concept" interior.

It's still pretty cool that they are building 5 of these.

Surely there was strong demand for this concept to be built as well.
...but Honda/Acura saved this rare gem forever as a one-off!

The only thing I don't really care for on it is the goofy light-up grille. GT6 makes it look like it could be used as supplemental lighting; fog lights, etc. But it looks goofy.

Press release...

Two legendary brands with legendary visions will unite once again at the Miami International Boat Show on February 13, 2014. Cigarette Racing and the Mercedes-Benz high-performance brand AMG join forces for the fourth consecutive year to present futuristic visions, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept car and the Cigarette Racing 50’ Vision GT Concept.

For the new PlayStation®3 racing game Gran Turismo® 6, Mercedes-Benz designers developed the ultimate concept of a super sports car – the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo. Extreme proportions, sensual contours and intelligently implemented high technology blend to form a body that visually brings to life the breathtaking performance of the AMG V8 front-mid engine with 577 hp (430 kW) and 590 lb-ft of torque. Realised as a 1:1-scale model, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo celebrated its world premiere on November 19, 2013 at the opening of the new Mercedes-Benz Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California. The super sports car with its hallmark Mercedes gullwing doors made its motor show debut in Los Angeles on November 20, 2013 and then took to the virtual racetrack when the new racing game went on sale in December 2013 – as the first of the "Vision Gran Turismo" series of vehicles.

To mark the 15th anniversary of the popular Gran Turismo® series in 2013, Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of Gran Turismo and president of Polyphony Digital Inc., called upon the world's leading automotive manufacturers and design studios to look forward into the future. Using the theme "Vision Gran Turismo," these creative teams were to develop concept models which give a unique insight into the further development of the automobile. As virtual vehicles that nonetheless function just like a real car, the visionary concepts will be gradually unveiled in and integrated into the new game Gran Turismo® 6 through online updates. The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo was the first concept of the "Vision Gran Turismo" series to be integrated in the game, released in December. The Mercedes-Benz concept car perfectly embodies the design philosophy of sensual purity. The technical details engineered with utmost precision, such as the headlamps, the front grille and even the tailpipe trim, create a deliberate contrast to the sensual design idiom of the vehicle body and bolster its breathtaking appearance on the road. While this concept car is a vision that is not committed to production, it does preview design inspirations for the future of Mercedes-Benz.

Extreme proportions and striking design

The sports car proportions that are a typical Mercedes feature are reinterpreted in the Vision Gran Turismo: the long bonnet has a flowing transition into a compact greenhouse offset to the rear, which takes the form of an aerodynamically efficient water drop to descend slightly at the rear, where it rests on the rear end with broad shoulder contours.

The dynamic aura is accentuated by an extended, dramatic side contour and a pronounced bulge to the wheel arches, which blend into the low-slung, muscular bodyshell. The extraordinary headlights, with their colour scheme and determined look, convey a sense of sportiness and readiness to leap forward. This impression is reinforced by the hood with its expressive forms and motorsport details, such as the release catches on the bonnet and the fuel cap, for example. The red-glowing contour lines on the lower part of the vehicle create an effect similar to that of exterior ambient lighting and stand out from the silver-painted bodywork. This makes the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo look even more expressive.

The exterior design of the Vision Gran Turismo, which is systematically and passionately geared to motor racing, is congenially mirrored in the interior of the two-seater.

A natural collaboration with Cigarette: Crafted lightweight performance

Virtually simultaneous to the development of the Vision Gran Turismo was the special development of the Cigarette Racing 50’ Vision GT Concept, a one-of-a-kind special model which is the most powerful production twin engine performance boat ever developed and built by Cigarette Racing. The collaboration between Cigarette Racing Team, Mercedes-AMG and Polyphony Digital Inc. created one-of-a-kind elements for the Cigarette Racing 50’ Vision GT Concept, incorporating a stunning Alubeam painted exterior that includes a custom matte black hull and accents.

The Cigarette Racing 50’ Vision GT Concept has twin 1650 hp Mercury Racing engines, which roar at 300 hp per engine higher than the standard engines used in the 50’ Cigarette Marauder. Lightweight construction has allowed for approximately 1000 lbs to be removed from the standard spec weight, thereby allowing the boat to have an estimated top speed of more than 140 mph at a length of 50’ and a width of 8’.
No detail was left untouched when designing the interior of the Cigarette Racing 50’ Vision GT Concept. The crafted interior is black with black Alcantara® accents, and uses carbon fibre dash panels inside the boat with silver face gauges. User interface technology is also maximised with Bluetooth, computerised controls, four high-definition displays, and the next generation integration of Garmin and Cigarette navigation and audio.

The price of this one-of-a-kind boat from Cigarette Racing Team is USD $1.5 million.
