September 11, 2017. That’s when Mercedes-AMG unveiled its F1-engined Project One in concept form, prior to what was supposed to be the start of deliveries in late 2018. It’s mid-2020 and those 275 people fortunate enough to claim one still haven’t received their hypercars packing four-digit horsepower. They’ll have to wait some more as the first shipments will kick off sometime in 2021.

What caused the delay? You can imagine it’s quite tricky to adapt a 1.6-liter V6 engine of Formula 1 origins to a road car, with passing the emissions regulations being one of the biggest hurdles AMG had to overcome. Then there are the technologies ported from the 2017-spec F1 car, specifically the kinetic-energy harvesting-and-deploying electric motor (MGU-K) and the electrically spooled turbocharger (MGU-H).

Ok, but what does it have to do with this AMG GT Black Series? Well, the boys and girls from Affalterbach have developed a special version of their sixth BS model exclusively for future owners of the hypercar. German magazine Mercedes-Fans is reporting this decision was taken to soften the blow caused by the multiple delays that have plagued the hypercar’s launch.

While pricing for the regular AMG GT Black Series has not been revealed yet, it is believed the P One Edition costs an additional €50,000 or about $57,300 at current exchange rates. It takes inspiration from the Mercedes AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ race car used in the 2019 F1 season, with a two-tone livery with teal accents inside and out as a nod to Petronas, the F1 team’s title sponsor.

€50,000 is a hefty premium to pay, but that shouldn’t be much of a problem for AMG One customers seeing as how the hypercar had a starting price of €2.27 million. Considering there will be a maximum of 275 cars, some will see this P One Edition purely as an investment since the car’s value could go up in time, provided it’ll be a garage queen.

We’ll have to wait for a full release from Mercedes-AMG, but for the time being, these terribly cropped images will have to suffice.

Mercedes-Benz has reclaimed the title of fastest luxury four-door around the Nürburgring yet again with the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S, blitzing around the circuit in just 7:27.800.

Unlike the insanely quick two-door model, which puts a priority on performance, the four-door is a GT first and a sport sedan second, so sub-seven-minute times are off the table — at least until the "73" model makes its way into the picture, as is expected to happen sometime next year. In the meantime, 7:27.8 is quite quick. Mercedes-Benz says the time was achieved with an effectively stock four-door, 630-horsepower 2021 AMG GT 63 S equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires (which are an available option to customers).

The time supplied by Mercedes-Benz is for the entire 12.944-mile Nordschleife circuit, which the company says has been certified by a notary (per standardization that was introduced in 2019) and will appear on the circuit's own leaderboard page. The AMG GT 63 S completed the shorter, 12.8-mile portion (omitting the T13 straight, which was added to bypass the modern F1 circuit when it was completed in 1984) in 7:23.009.

Either way you measure it, the new AMG GT is more than 2 seconds quicker around the 'Ring than it was in 2018, before being knocked off the podium by the new 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S.

“Even though I’ve been accompanying our GT 63 through its development for several years now, it’s always impressive to see the wide spread we have been able to achieve with this exclusive vehicle," said AMG development engineer (and two-time AMG GT record-setting driver) Demian Schaffert.

"This is especially true after the recent slight revision. On the one hand, the four-door coupe is comfortable and equipped with many intelligent safety features for everyday driving, and on the other hand it offers this extremely high level of driving dynamics and precision, which we have now been able to demonstrate once again on the demanding Nordschleife."

Mercedes-AMG has more plans to grow the GT 4-Door range, with a new, entry-level "43" model joining the ranks for 2021 and the aforementioned 73-badged model powered by an 805-horsepower plug-in hybrid drivetrain expected to join the lineup in 2021. Built around a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 engine. It will offer an electric range of about 31 miles.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Internet, please be upstanding for the fastest production car ever to lap the Nürburgring. At 5pm on 4 November, German racing driver Maro Engel set a laptime of 6m 43.616s in the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, beating the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ by just over a second and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by around four seconds.

Mercedes tells us that for the record attempt, which was conducted on a cold day on a track that was “not yet totally dry”, it made full use of the Black Series’ adjustable suspension and aero. It extended the Black’s front splitter to the ‘Race’ position and adjusted the lower and upper blades of the rear wing to their middle position.

Meanwhile it set the adjustable anti-roll bars to their stiffest setting, dialled-in -3.8 and -3 degrees of camber on the front and rear axles respectively and dropped the adjustable coilover suspension by 5mm and 3mm front/rear to “enhance the venturi effect of the front diffuser”. It claims that “customers can also take advantage of all these settings and variations”. If said customers are handy with a set of spanners, of course.

Engel set the nine-stage traction control system to position six or seven “depending on the section of track”. And for the lap the Black wore standard fit Michelin “Pilot Sport Cup 2 R MO” tyres.

Nowadays attempts to set a record-breaking laptime at the ‘Ring are governed by a strict set of rules to keep everyone on a level playing field. Vehicles and tyres are inspected “with regard to their series-production state”, sophisticated timing equipment must be used and an independent notary has to be present to verify that manufacturers are behaving themselves.

Vehicles are put into categories as defined by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority – the Black is a “sports car” – and two times recorded. The one quoted on the ‘Ring’s website is for the full 20.832km circuit. However manufacturers tend to quote times for the 20.6km circuit, which Mercedes says “has been the measure of all things” for years. The shorter lap has different start and finish lines, so if you think about it, isn’t really a lap at all.

It’s times for the 20.6km course that we quoted at the start of this article. The Black’s laptime for the 20.832km circuit is 6m 48.047s. Still a record for the fastest “production car” to ever lap the Nürburgring.

But the Black isn’t the fastest “road-legal sports car” to have lapped the ‘Ring. That honour goes to a Porsche 911 GT2 RS modified by Manthey Racing, which in early 2018 set a time of 6m 40.3s (6m 44.749s for the 20.832km track).

Meh, still don't want one because it's fugly. I wouldn't be taking my $400k sports car on a track anyway.

Would rather have a normal AMG GT car that I can drive around town.

But, the Black Series cars were always pretty extreme. I remember Clarkson driving the CLK Black & it having a warning about the tires being pretty much useless in cool or damp conditions.

Tires are easy to change though. The previous black series cars weren't track cars though. They were just more insane versions of the "normal" AMG models. This is pretty much a track version of the already track focused GT-R. All of the vents, wings, holes, spoilers, splitters, etc are all a bit much for me. This is the Civic Type R of the super car world IMO.

Mercedes is making room in its lineup for the new king of the 'Ring and its matte black cousin: the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Stealth Edition, respectively. The Mercedes-AMG GT R will be discontinued after the 2021 model year, with orders for the 2021 car closing this year, on December 29, per dealership communications obtained by Allcarnews.

After that, you poor, suffering six-figure supercar buyers will have to settle for one of the other models that is either sticking around or being added for 2021 and beyond. Whatever shall you do, besides perhaps flog a Black Series around the Nürburgring in pursuit of that record-setting 6:48.047 lap time? (Okay, that's considerably more expensive, but definitely what you should do.)

A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson confirmed the lineup change in a statement to The Drive:

“We are pleased to announce enhancements to the Mercedes-AMG GT two-door lineup for the 2021 model year in the U.S. market. The spectacular new AMG GT Black Series, boasting the most powerful AMG V8 series engine of all time with 720 horsepower and a production car lap record on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, marks the return of this iconic name to the world of super sports cars and takes its rightful place at the very top of the GT family.

The GT Black Series is joined by the significantly enhanced 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT, boasting 54 more horsepower than before—now with 523 hp—and with new standard equipment like the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping, electronic limited-slip differential and more. The new AMG GT “Stealth Edition” also joins the GT lineup, featuring exclusive black, carbon fiber and dark chrome elements, while the Mercedes-AMG GT R has been discontinued for the U.S. market for the 2021 model year.”
The 577-horsepower Mercedes-AMG GT R has been in production since the 2017 model year and even became the fastest rear-wheel-drive car to lap the 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2016 with a stupid-fast 7:10.92 lap time. Later, it spawned an open-top GT R Roadster for those of us who enjoy bad hair days and slower lap times. (Sorry, not sorry for the truth.)

Our need for ever-faster 'Ring times and the passage of time have since one-upped the once-dominant "Beast of the Green Hell" GT R, hence its discontinuation in the lineup to make room for fresh metal. Act fast, GT R buyers, and maybe they'll throw in a leftover Christmas bow.

The new 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series arrives at U.S. dealerships in early 2021 alongside the upgraded 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT and 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Stealth Edition.

In a recent conversation with Car and Driver, Mercedes-AMG CEO Philipp Schiemer revealed a great deal about the future of Mercedes-AMG. This bright future will see continued investment in gasoline engines augmented by a power performance hybrid setup for most upcoming models. Philipp Schiemer also confirmed that a new Mercedes-AMG SL is on the horizon and will replace the AMG GT Roadster.

The modern-day Mercedes-Benz SL has had a rough couple of years. Increased competition internally from the AMG GT, slow sales, and no advertising meant this Mercedes-Benz icon was slowly becoming obsolete. Luckily, the future of the SL is looking bright as Mercedes-AMG CEO Philipp Schiemer confirmed that internal competition will soon be gone thanks to the elimination of the AMG GT Roadster and there will be a greater investment in the future of the model.

The next-generation SL will be a full-fledged Mercedes-AMG product like the AMG GT coupe and sedan. According to Schiemer, it will remain a comfortable car the cruise in for long distances but is quick to point out that the SL has a strong racing pedigree. Schiemer also clearly stated that the SL will have its own unique powertrains and may not share everything with other more pedestrian Mercedes-AMG products.

As the future of Mercedes-AMG embraces hybridization for greater performance we may see some of their best work. Riding on the heels of a dominant Formula One Team while developing a hypercar only elevates the capabilities and brand image of Mercedes-AMG. A turn towards hybridization will also allow Mercedes-AMG products to meet tightening emissions requirements while adding performance.

With a bright future for its current lineup and the opportunity to add electric-only performance products, we expect to see massive growth for the Mercedes-AMG brand.

When Mercedes-AMG launched the GT 4-Door Coupe in 2018, the US got two V8-powered GT63 models and a superb inline-6-powered GT53. Europe also got a cheaper, less-powerful GT43 that seemed like it wouldn't make sense in the US. But for 2021 the GT43 is now available Stateside, and it feels like a proper AMG… mostly.

On its own, the GT43's powertrain is phenomenal. It's the same turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with an EQ-Boost mild-hybrid system, like what you'll find in the E450 and CLS450, with 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic is the only transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard. Mercedes says the GT43 will hit 60 mph in a brisk 4.8 seconds, which is quicker than the E450 and matches the CLS450.

The GT53, meanwhile, adds an electric supercharger on top of that turbo I6. It makes 429 hp and 384 lb-ft, an increase of 67 hp and 15 lb-ft over the GT43, and the engine's peak torque is available across a wider rev range. Mercedes says the GT53 will hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, almost half a second quicker than the GT43.

Around town it's tough to notice a difference between the 43 and 53 except for when you really floor it from a light or while merging onto the highway. But the GT43's lack of an electric supercharger really becomes apparent when you get it on a curvy road. Coming out of corners the GT43 just doesn't have enough punch. Even if I drop a gear or two and floor it, it lacks a lot of the 53's slightly manic character. At least the 43 sounds great when equipped with the $1,850 variable performance exhaust.

Thankfully, the GT43's handling makes up for the engine's shortcomings. It continues AMG's recent trend of offering satisfying electric power steering, and its turn-in and overall levels of feedback are just as sharp as the GT53. My test car has a $3,450 set of huge 21-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires (sized 275/35 up front and 315/30 in the back), which offer a massive amount of grip. The GT43 feels much more nimble and compact than its 4,530-pound curb weight and 199.2-inch length would suggest.

Typically, you'd think 21-inch wheels would ruin the GT43's ride, but that's not the case. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The GT43 is super composed and comfortable, never getting unsettled or shuddery over even the roughest surfaces and potholes. The ride is noticeably better than that of the E-Class and CLS, and the GT43 comes standard with adjustable dampers.

The GT43 looks identical to the GT53, which is to say it looks excellent. My test car wears $720 Brilliant Blue metallic paint and has all the standard chrome trim intact, which looks great with the 21-inch forged wheels. (If it were my money, I'd go for the $3,950 matte version of this paint.) The six-cylinder GT 4-Doors have less aggressive front fascias than the GT63, and I actually prefer the subtler look. Its hatchback rear end makes it way more practical than a CLS- or E-Class, too.

The GT43's interior has Mercedes' ubiquitous dual-screen setup, a sweeping dashboard and a tall center console with two rows of touchscreen buttons. For 2021 the GT 4-Doors get Mercedes' fantastic MBUX infotainment system, which brings a redesigned touchpad, a voice assistant, navigation, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This GT43's combination of the $2,850 Auburn Brown leather and no-cost Grey Ash matte wood trim looks fantastic, and the interior's design is sufficiently different from a regular E-Class. Despite the sloped roof, there's a pretty great amount of headroom and legroom for regular-sized rear passengers. The rear seats are fixed, though, and the only way to get folding seatbacks is to spring for the $3,550 Executive Rear Seat package, which also adds three-zone climate control, heated and cooled rear cupholders, two rear USB ports, a touchscreen and wireless charging pad for the rear passengers.

As with the styling and powertrain, the GT43 is identical to the GT53 in terms of feature content. Standard items include LED headlights, an active rear spoiler, heated front seats, MB-Tex upholstery, remote start and keyless entry, a power liftgate, a sunroof, ambient interior lighting, a surround-sound Burmester stereo system, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring and automated emergency braking.

My GT43 has $17,045 in options for a sticker price of $107,995, and it still isn't fully loaded. Key additions are the $450 ventilated front seats, $2,100 fixed panoramic sunroof, $500 360-degree camera, the must-have $400 drive mode buttons on the steering wheel, a $350 augmented-reality navigation function and the $1,950 Driver Assistance package that adds features like adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist, lane-keeping assist and rear cross-traffic alert. If it were my money I'd also add the $1,320 massaging front seats, $4,550 3D sound system, $1,100 head-up display and $1,100 Acoustic Comfort package to really up the luxury factor.

At $90,950 to start (including $1,050 for destination) the GT43 is $10,050 cheaper than the GT53, which isn't a ton of money in the grand scheme of things -- look how easy it is to add almost double that in options. Then there's the issue of the 2021 CLS53 AMG, which has a starting price of $82,600 and gets the AMG-fettled engine that the GT43 lacks. Or at least it did; the AMG CLS53 is being discontinued for 2022, leaving only the much cheaper CLS450, giving the GT43 some breathing room.

The real reason the GT43 exists in America is so AMG has a direct competitor to the base Porsche Panamera 4, as the GT53 goes against the Panamera 4S. But with the Panamera 4 costing $93,150 and the 4S starting at $106,350, the Porsches have a bigger price difference between them, plus the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 is already $4,600 more expensive than the rear-wheel-drive version. They also have different engines, standard features and driving characteristics, and the Panamera 4 makes a better case for itself.

After spending a week with the GT43, it still doesn't make a lot of sense. That doesn't mean that it's not incredible to look at, excellent to drive and nice to be inside, though. Even with this lowly powertrain, the GT43 feels worthy of the AMG name. It's more than enough car for people that want the GT look and feel without a mega-high price or a rowdier demeanor. But if you really enjoy driving, the GT53 is well worth the extra cost.

I can't wait for a couple years when these cars roll off of leases, the depreciated pricing is going to be super enticing.

I see a few of these every week coming out of the swanky neighborhood next to mine. Definitely prefer them to the CLS.

The first performance hybrid from Mercedes-AMG is entering series production, drawing upon technologies from Formula 1. The concept includes a distinctive drive layout with an electric motor and battery on the rear axle as well as a high-performance battery developed in-house. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE combines superior performance and impressive driving dynamics with maximum efficiency thanks to its special powertrain. The E PERFORMANCE model thus transfers the DNA of AMG Driving Performance into the electrified future. The combination of 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine and electric motor generates a system output of 620 kW (831 hp) and a maximum system torque of more than 1,400 Nm (1,033 lb-ft). The electric drive's immediate response at the rear axle, rapid torque build-up and improved weight distribution make for a new, highly dynamic driving experience. As in Formula 1, the battery is specifically designed for fast power delivery and draw. The electric range of 12 kilometers (7 miles) allows a practical operating radius, for example in the city or in residential areas. Mercedes-AMG is breaking new ground in communication on electrification together with brand ambassador will.i.am: The world-famous musician and multiple Grammy Award winner is the protagonist of the marketing campaign "Everything but quiet". He not only contributed to the concept, but also wrote an exclusive song for the release video.

"With the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE we are transporting our brand DNA into an electrified future. In doing so, we are following our own technical path, which is what has always made AMG so special and desirable. Developed entirely in Affalterbach, the performance hybrid offers a fascinating level of driving dynamics and rightly bears our new technology label E PERFORMANCE. With this new concept, we are also opening up to new target groups who will experience Mercedes-AMG as the performance luxury brand of the 21st century. Our departure into AMG-typical electrification is flanked by a large-scale campaign. And I am delighted that we have also been able to win over a special partner for this in the form of superstar will.i.am, who we have been able to inspire with our technology," says Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

"Mercedes-AMG has always stood for top performance and maximum driving dynamics. In developing our E PERFORMANCE hybrid strategy, it was therefore clear from the outset that we would pursue a stand-alone concept for AMG that combines our core brand values with high efficiency. It is now entering series production with the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE. The layout with the combustion engine at the front and Electric Drive Unit on the rear axle offers numerous advantages. The optimized weight distribution, best possible utilization of torque and the very fast power delivery promise driving dynamics at the highest level. Added to this is the high-performance battery developed in-house, which has twice the power density of conventional drive batteries and, like many other components, is inspired by technology from Formula 1," says Jochen Hermann, Technical General Manager of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

Ever since Mercedes-AMG unveiled the GT 63 S E Performance at the end of August last year, we knew the plug-in hybrid liftback was going to be extremely expensive. That said, we are still in a bit of a shock to discover the price tag the boys and girls from Affalterbach have slapped onto their most powerful production car ever, outside of the One hypercar. Math starts at an eye-watering €196,897, referred to as only a "base price" in Germany.

Aside from the usual crop of options, the car with a long name can also be had in a more expensive Edition version for an additional €21,777. Featured here, the five-door PHEV with supercar performance costs no less than €218,674 at home in Deutschland. To put that sum into perspective, the Mercedes-Maybach S680 (yes, the one with the V12) is only about €5,800 more expensive in Germany.

Yes, we know the two models cater to different people, but it's still interesting to see the GT 63 S E Performance costs about as much as the absolute flagship car from Daimler Mercedes-Benz. The Edition… edition is dressed to impress in AMG Green Hell Magno and rides on 21-inch forged wheels with a five Y-spoke design finished in black. It gets the AMG Night Package and the AMG Night Package II as standard for a series of black accents.

For that kind of money, Mercedes will also throw in the Aerodynamics and Exterior Carbon packages, a panoramic roof, illuminated door sill plates, and Nappa leather with a two-tone look. The GT 63 S E Performance Edition receives numerous black piano-lacquer accents, which can be replaced with carbon fiber for a sportier vibe. An "Edition" badge on the inside rounds off the tweaks.

The technical specifications are downright amazing, with 831 horsepower on tap courtesy of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine working with an electric motor. The AWD-equipped hybrid machine offers up to 1,084 pound-feet (1,470 Newton-meters) of torque and accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 2.9 seconds. That's not too shabby for a vehicle that weighs a whopping 2,380 kilograms (5,247 pounds). It's actually a tad heavier than the Maybach S680 we mentioned earlier. Flat out, it will do 196 mph (316 km/h).

Not that anyone interested in buying the GT 63 S E Performance Edition will care, but the PHEV monster has a 6.1-kWh battery with enough juice for 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) of electric range. The combined fuel consumption is an impressively low 7.9 liters / 100 km, which works out to 29.7 miles per gallon.

Mercedes will have the car on sale in Europe from April, with US details likely to follow at a later date.

It appears it's finally happened but we knew this was coming. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series has reportedly ceased production with just over 1,700 examples built. The news comes from the German language MB Passion website. CarBuzz has also reached out to Mercedes-Benz to confirm the news. We'll update this space accordingly if we receive a relevant reply.

The AMG GT Black Series made its official debut in June 2020. It was the first Mercedes model to have the Black Series designation in six years, and it very much earned the name. Power comes from the familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces a grand total of 720 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. An ultra-fast-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission routes power to the rear wheels only.

Performance is outstanding with a 0-60 mph time of 3.1 seconds and will proceed to hit 124 mph in less than 9 seconds. Top speed comes to an impressive 202 mph. The good folks at Affalterbach applied lessons learned from the GT3 and GT4 motorsports programs to the street-legal Black Series. These include, among other things, that massive rear wing, a manually adjustable front splitter, and plenty of weight-saving measures.

And, of course, the Black Series set a Nurburgring production car lap record back in 2020 of 6:43.616. This was beaten around a year later by a Manthey modified Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

Basically, additional modifications were needed to get the GT2 RS up to speed. Mercedes-AMG wasted no time congratulating its rival. It also didn't let Porsche forget about those modifications. "Fair competition has always inspired us. Congrats on that belter of a lap on the Nordschliefe, Porsche - even though it took an additional performance kit to beat the record time set by our series production Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series."

The rest of the Mercedes-AMG GT lineup will also soon be discontinued. A next-generation successor will arrive in the very near future. It's expected to continue the new tradition of giving the Porsche 911 a hard time whenever and wherever possible.

It is the most powerful customer sports car ever to have been developed by Mercedes-AMG: the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series, conceptualised for use during track days and club sport events. With the exclusive limited edition, the Mercedes-AMG motorsport department is celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Affalterbach-based company in a very special way. Limited to 55 units, the Mercedes AMG GT Track Series is the spiritual bridge to AMG founders Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher and their philosophy: making the best even better yet. The result is an uncompromised and exclusive performance car that is reflecting the automotive constructors' art of Mercedes-AMG in a unique way.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series is extending the GT legacy by a new iconic model. The legendary top performer Mercedes AMG GT Black Series served as the basis for the development. Like the latter model, the GT Track Series stands out for its vehicle concept aimed at top-level performance, combining it with the racetrack-proven qualities of the GT3 and GT4 models. Ineligible for road use approval, the GT Track Series additionally underlines its high exclusivity by means of numerous unique technical and visual features.

Fascinating performance offer

The heart of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series is the 4.0 litre V8 biturbo engine from the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, the engineers from Affalterbach having enhanced its impressive performance figures even further. For instance, thanks to custom motorsport injectors and a specific engine application, the power unit equipped with a flat crankshaft now delivers 540 kW (734 hp) and a maximum torque of 850 Nm.

The sequential Hewland HLS 6-speed racing gearbox with adjustable differential transfers the power to the rear axle. Like in all the models from the GT family, it has been installed on the rear axle in transaxle configuration and has a torsion and torque resistant connection to the engine by means of a carbon fibre torque tube. The suspension of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series features comprehensively adjustable four-way Bilstein dampers. As is common in motorsport, they each have a high-speed and low-speed setting in the rebound and compression levels and additionally allow for adjustments of the ride height. In addition, the anti-roll bars are individually adjustable to ensure an individual setup.

In their combination with the underlying car concept, these high-performance components result into a highly precise handling with unmistakable feedback. This allows drivers of all skill levels, be it racing professionals or gentlemen drivers, to quickly build up confidence in the vehicle.

Optimised aerodynamics combined with a powerful design

The design and the aerodynamics of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series strictly follow the performance philosophy as well. The bonnet, wings, sills, back door and the rear apron are made of carbon fibre and largely contribute to the high driving dynamics. Another important effect of the material mix is the reduction of the kerb weight of the vehicle to 1,400 kg.

The integrated louvres of the carbon wing on the front axle provide a higher downforce. The sills with elements of black visible carbon, transitioning into vertical blades both at the front and the rear, significantly contribute to an optimal airflow around the vehicle. To ensure an effective cooling of the rear brakes, the sills also incorporate cooling air ducts. The rear apron with double diffuser and lateral wheel arch air outlets also refers to the racing DNA of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series.

The front of the exclusive model is characterised by the AMG specific sporty radiator grille, which ensures optimum air flow to the radiator. The high-downforce front splitter was developed exclusively for the GT Track Series. It is complemented by a modified, mechanically adjustable racing rear wing that is based on the aero element of the GT Black Series. It was further developed to improve the downforce on the rear axle.

Another direct motorsport derivative is the exclusive characteristic bonnet with large air outlet. It guides the hot air from the engine bay, increases the overall downforce while contributing to the cooling of the engine at the same time.

Another special development for the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series are the exclusive high-sheen milled and forged 18 inch wheels, the usual wheel rim size for GT race cars. All the usual competition tyre types can be used.

A special optical highlight is the exclusive semi-gloss special finish in MANUFAKTUR hightech silver magno with design elements in red and anthracite. Another highlight that emphasises the exclusivity of this GT model is the integration of the AMG emblem in the upper area of the front apron.

Comprehensive safety package and motorsport specific interior

Like in the GT3 and the GT4, user and service friendly racing electronics have been installed in the GT Track Series as well. They include a racing specific traction control and a motorsport ABS, each adjustable across 12 levels (level 1: maximum TC/ABS activity, level 11: minimum TC/ABS activity, level 12: off-mode).

The brake components are motorsport-proven as well. The GT Track Series comes with steel brakes (front axle: 390 mm/rear axle 355 mm). A brake beam has been installed for adjusting the brake balance. The carbon brake air ducts and the dimensionally stable brake air lines guarantee optimal cooling of the performance brake system in the process.

Proven within the GT family, the safety concept has been applied in the interior: the roll cage of high-tensile steel is bolted to the aluminium space frame and an extrication hatch has been placed in the roof. The carbon driver safety cell has large dimensions and is even offering tall drivers sufficient room to move. Moreover, it as a five-point safety harness and a customisable ergonomic seat foaming. As a result, the driver safety cell meets the latest FIA standards and is offering a considerably higher protection level than usual race seats. A powerful motorsport fire extinguisher system and driver safety nets complement the comprehensive safety concept of the GT Track Series.

During the design process of the interior, the Mercedes-AMG engineers have paid particular attention to the purpose of the vehicle: the GT Track Series has been assembled as a thoroughbred motorsport vehicle and therefore does without any comfort elements. To achieve the 1,400 kg kerb weight, the search for any components like padding materials, interior fairing or electric windows is in vain.

The steering wheel, exclusively developed for the GT Track Series in cooperation with the sim racing experts at Cube Controls, has a wide adjustment range and numerous control opportunities. The pedals can also be adjusted and can be individually adapted to the driver's physique. The dashboard with visible carbon and a matt finish includes a fully programmable BOSCH DDU 11 Driver Display Unit, designed for intuitive operation and user-friendliness. Moreover, it incorporates a comprehensive data logging system for motorsport purposes, for instance a lap trigger to keep track of lap times. The GT Track Series is one of the first cars around to feature the newly developed system.

55 years of Mercedes-AMG - 55 Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series

The Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series stands for maximum exclusivity. The special series is limited to 55 units, each of them built by hand in Affalterbach. Thus, Mercedes-AMG reminisces about the founding of the company by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in the year 1967, exactly 55 years ago. A high-quality embossed "1 of 55" plaque in the interior identifies every Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series as a unique piece from the special edition. The "Track Series" embroidered writings on the driver's seat and on the limited car cover also refer to the exclusivity of the GT Track Series.

Comprehensive service and support included

Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series owners benefit from a comprehensive service and support range that is continually being developed and expanded. It also includes such privileges that normally are exclusive to the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport customer teams: a technical training prior to delivery of the vehicle, individual engineer support during track days and club sport activities upon request, a service hot line during race weekends as well as logistical services such as a optimal spare parts supply.

Technical support is guaranteed by the motorsport experts at HWA AG, carrying out services and rebuilds as Mercedes-AMG's development and production partner. The exclusive online-based ordering and information system "Customer Service Portal" is in place for ordering accessories and spare parts as well as providing all technical documentation.

Direct sales from Affalterbach

Worldwide sales of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series is being handled from Affalterbach where Mercedes-AMG has its headquarters. Customer delivery of the special edition starts in the second quarter of 2022. The list price of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series including air conditioning is € 369,000 plus VAT. A spare parts starter set, a seat and helmet ventilation system, a drinking system and a passenger safety cell are available as options.

The Mercedes-AMG GT is no longer in production, so if you were hoping to order one, you've missed out.

As reported by Road and Track, AMG head Philipp Schiemer confirmed that the production of the supercar had ended in an interview last week. Over its production run, Mercedes sold over 17,000 examples in the US, first entering production in 2014. The last hurrah for the model was the Black Series, with the track-tuned weapon at one point claiming the lap record for production vehicles at the Nurburgring.

With the GT no longer available, the question stands as to whether it will see a replacement. Mercedes already confirmed last year that the new SL-series will replace the roadster model.

As for the hardtop, the future looks bright. "I think the GT was a success, and I think it's very easy to see that we will make a successor out of it," Schiemer noted.

One throwaway line doesn't give us much detail to go on, but there are hints as to where the new model might go with its design. In 2020, we got a look at the Mercedes-AMG GT Hybrid concept, which sported 800 horsepower and all-wheel-drive. We've also seen the compnay's other hero cars moving towards four-cylinder engines and hybrid drive, like the upcoming 2024 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance.

Alternatively, depending on the timeline, the sequel to the GT could even be all electric. The company already has EVs on sale, so a performance model is not out of the question.

Perhaps the most unlikely future for the GT is that it remains as a simple V8-powered bruiser without any fancy new technology at all. As the industry rushes towards hybrids and full electrification, it would be doubtful for the GT to be left behind. With many rivals in its segment rushing to embrace hybrid power for performance reasons, it would be a glaring omission on a new version.

For now, we'll have to wait and see. As for those that currently find themselves wanting a GT, there are two options: Buy used, or start hassling your dealer for a reservation for the new one right now.

Mercedes-AMG continues to expand its Customer Racing programme: in the 2023 season, a GT2 model will complement the fleet of the successful GT3 and GT4 cars from Affalterbach. The new Mercedes-AMG GT2 is the most powerful homologated race car in the meanwhile twelve-year history of the customer sport programme. The GT2 offers the usual extremely high safety level of AMG race cars and comes with many new racing technologies. As a result, the GT2 version stands out as an attractive overall package for ambitious amateur drivers in particular. With the presentation of the new model, Mercedes-AMG underlines its ambition to take a leading role in international GT2 competition as well.

With the Mercedes-AMG GT2, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach starts a new chapter in customer sport. The race car bridges the gap between the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the Mercedes-AMG GT4. While the GT3 is increasingly being raced by professional drivers and the GT4 primarily marks the entry into the world of GT racing, GT2 particularly aims at the group of gentlemen drivers. For them, with the GT2 regulations introduced in 2020, Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) has created an attractive platform with more and more international race events.

An outstanding feature of the new Mercedes-AMG GT2 is its maximum performance level: at 520 kW (707 hp), the new member of the Customer Racing family ranks above GT3 level, both in terms of horsepower and in top speed. The source of this power is the AMG 4.0 litre V8 biturbo engine with a flat crankshaft. The power is transmitted by means of a sequential six-speed racing gearbox with modified gear ratios. Like in all GT models, the gearbox is mounted on the rear axle in transaxle configuration and is connected to the engine by a carbon torque tube, torsion and torque rigid. The suspension includes comprehensively configurable motorsport shock absorbers and adjustable anti-roll bars.

The exterior of the Mercedes-AMG GT2 speaks the same expressive design language as the other Customer Racing cars from Affalterbach: from the wide front section with the large air intake openings all the way to the muscular rear end, every detail is aimed at performance. The carbon bonnet includes a large air outlet and so-called louvers that also influence the aerodynamic performance have been integrated into the carbon wings at the front axle.

A further aerodynamic highlight of the Mercedes-AMG GT2 is a fully newly developed rear wing, held in place by a characteristic swan neck mount. The large single-level wing is multi-adjustable and significantly contributes to precise handling. As usual for the AMG Customer Racing cars, the GT2 version also stands out for reliable handling. As a result, less-experienced drivers can also quickly build up confidence. An important new development for competition use is the wheel mounting: the Mercedes-AMG GT2 has an innovative central wheel mount system. This allows for even faster and more reliable changes of the forged 18" AMG light alloy wheels.

Functional racing ergonomics prevail in the cockpit of the Mercedes-AMG GT2. The DDU (Digital Display Unit) of the latest generation is an innovation in the driver's central field of view. The fully programmable dashboard system has a high-resolution graphic display. This makes it intuitive to operate and very user-friendly. Another exclusive novelty is the new multi-function steering wheel, which Mercedes-AMG developed together with the sim racing experts at Cube Controls. It offers a new level of ergonomics, functionality and control.

To ensure optimum occupants protection, the Mercedes-AMG GT2 uses the pioneering safety concept that has also been incorporated into the GT3 and GT4. This includes, among others, racing-specific driver aid systems such as the multi-adjustable traction control or racing ABS of the latest generation. The interior of the vehicle is protected by a steel roll-cage bolted onto the aluminium space frame. The carbon driver safety cell includes a six-point safety belt and customisable ergonomic seat foaming. Safety nets, an extrication hatch in the roof, a carbon safety fuel tank and a powerful motorsport fire extinguishing system round out the comprehensive safety features of the Mercedes-AMG GT2.

Customer teams will receive the Mercedes-AMG GT2 fully matured. The new car will undergo comprehensive testing in the upcoming weeks, among others at circuits of the next GT2 European Series season. Next to various test races, an endurance test run in racing conditions is planned as well. Teams running the Mercedes-AMG GT2 get to enjoy the full support of Mercedes-AMG's worldwide Customer Racing programme. Like for the GT3 and GT4 models, technical support is guaranteed from the motorsport experts at HWA AG. As a development and production partner of Mercedes-AMG, HWA AG carries out all maintenance and overhauls. Sales of the Mercedes-AMG GT2 will start in the course of the 2023 motorsport season.

"The Mercedes-AMG GT2 is yet another milestone in our Customer Racing programme. Thus, we emphasise once more our commitment to GT racing and further expand our involvement by entering a new segment in GT racing. The GT3 segment having become more and more professional and GT4 having become established as an entry-level category, we open up new opportunities with the Mercedes-AMG GT2. As a result, we address an extended range of customers and therefore offer the high quality and the comprehensive support of our Customer Racing programme to interested parties in the GT2 segment as well. The race series for this category of vehicles have seen significant increase of reach and relevance in the past two years. In this dynamically growing market, we come up with the Mercedes-AMG GT2 as a highly attractive package and once again prove the performance potential of our brand." Christoph Sagemüller, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport

"The Mercedes-AMG GT2 incorporates our entire experience we have acquired over the past years in our successful Customer Racing activities. Next to proven GT3 and GT4 features, however, we have also integrated entirely new racing technologies, specially developed for the GT2. The result is the most powerful homologated race car we have built to date. The Mercedes-AMG GT2 is entering a new range of speed. Moreover, we have achieved that gentlemen drivers who don't race every weekend can control this enormous power in a commanding and safe way all the time. I am really happy that we can now offer a top-notch product along with our maximum support activities for the customer teams in this burgeoning segment as well." Stefan Wendl, Head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing

Mercedes-AMG has upgraded the six-cylinder models of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé. They can be recognised by the new front apron, which picks up on the previous design of the eight-cylinder models. The two outer decorative air intakes and the large central air intake under the radiator grille form a jet-wing profile. This emphasises the effect of breadth, while the radiator openings direct the air flows specifically to the functional elements such as coolers and brakes.

The electric sliding sunroof and the option of wireless charging for smartphones between the rear seats are now on board as standard. The intelligent, digital infotainment system MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) has also been given an update with a new look, redesigned AMG-specific displays and individually configurable functions. In conjunction with the optional Burmester® surround sound system or the Burmester® high-end 3D surround sound system, Dolby Atmos also introduces a new sound experience.

The basis for the sporty driving experience is provided by the unchanged 270 kW (367 hp) or 320 kW (435 hp) 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine with twin turbocharging and integrated starter alternator.

With the V8 Styling Package, the six-cylinder models can be made even more individual. It includes a new front apron, longitudinal member panels and a rear apron with diffuser. The specifically designed front end of the V8 Styling Package picks up on elements of the AMG GT Black Series, such as the radiator grille that opens further downwards, the wide lower air intake and the precise, functional air deflection elements at the outer edge. This further emphasises the proximity to the AMG GT family and its racing roots.

There are additional features for the other optional equipment packages. In the base variant, the front splitter is now also in high-gloss chrome with the Chrome Package. The same offer logic applies to the Carbon Fibre Package: here, too, the front splitter in carbon fibre is added. With the Aerodynamic Package in conjunction with the V8 Styling Package, the front splitter and flics are given a new shape.

Customers can now choose the new shade opalite white metallic from the colour palette. The wheel portfolio and upholstery range remain unchanged.

The second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is the new top model offered by Mercedes-AMG. It combines highly dynamic driving characteristics with increased suitability for everyday use. High-tech components such as the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with active roll stabilisation, rear-axle steering as standard and active aerodynamics sharpen the driving profile. The sporty coupé also brings its power to the road with the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive for the first time. In combination with the AMG 4.0 litre V8 biturbo engine, it results in a driving experience at the highest level. The exclusive AMG sports car architecture with the elaborate composite aluminium body structure enables its configuration as a 2+2-seater. For a sports car in this class, this means passengers have a very good sense of space and plenty of room for their luggage. The new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé, as the fifth independent series after the SLS, the first generation of the two-door GT, the GT 4-door Coupé and the SL, once again demonstrates the high level of technological competence of the Affalterbach development team.

"The new AMG GT Coupé combines highly dynamic driving characteristics and distinctive sportiness with a high level of everyday comfort. Our new GT is clearly the top-of-the-line product in our diversified portfolio and is therefore not only AMG's youngest brand shaper, but also a clear commitment to the sports car made in Affalterbach. With the new dimension concept and optional 2+2 seats, we are directly responding to the wishes of our customers." Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Head of Business Units Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Mercedes-Maybach

The market launch will take place as the AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ Coupé with an output of 430 kW (585 hp) and as the AMG GT 55 4MATIC+ Coupé with an output of 350 kW (476 hp).

Exterior design: the evolution of a modern, iconic sports car design

The expanded dimensional concept with optional 2+2 seats offered the designers completely new design options for the exterior. The long wheelbase, short overhangs and steeply raked windscreen make the new AMG GT Coupé appear compact and powerful. The balanced proportions with an exciting greenhouse, voluminous wheel arches and the expressive front view signal the appearance of a powerful sports car that is also suitable for everyday use. The side view is characterised by smoothly modelled surfaces without beads or edges, right down to the recessed door handles. The expressively modelled rear shoulder area gives the vehicle additional sports car appeal. The light-alloy wheels, which are almost flush with the body, emphasise power and dynamics. The active rear spoiler is seamlessly integrated into the large tailgate.

The deep and wide AMG-specific radiator grille creates a dominant presence. The distinctive headlights with standard DIGITAL LIGHT underline its unmistakable character. The daytime running lights with the characteristic three "light dots" light signet add further recognition value. The precise graphics in the darkened interior of the headlights with brushed surfaces underline the performance design. The lower air intake gives the front additional optical width. The sporty front is rounded off with the powerful power domes on the bonnet.

The compact greenhouse with a fastback silhouette and a large tailgate allows the design of a low and rounded rear with an active, deployable spoiler. The precise detailed design of the fender trim sets an accentuated contrast to the clean and full surfaces. The strongly pronounced shoulder gives the vehicle a perfect balance of elegance and sportiness. The flat, horizontally connected LED taillights with clear and precise graphics are precisely embedded in the rear design. The dark LED rear lights form a perfect symbiosis with the front headlights thanks to the three-dimensional "light dots" light signet. They feature the running light indicator function and "Coming Home/Leaving Home" animation as standard. The expressive rear diffuser with formally integrated twin tailpipe trim rounds off the dynamic design at the rear.

Interior design: "hyper analogue" combination of analogue geometry and the digital world

The interior design of the new AMG GT Coupé uses AMG's high-performance sports car genes, which have been skillfully translated into a digital world and consistently further developed. Materials, workmanship and "attention to detail" underscore the vehicle's claim to luxury in the interior. The cockpit design, right down to the central display in the centre console, is focused on the driver and impresses with a harmonious overall look. The fully digital instrument cluster is integrated into a three-dimensional visor.

Really nice update. Love the wheels too.

And I actually love how similar the aspects are of looking like a 911 Turbo.

Mercedes-AMG is expanding the portfolio of the new AMG GT Coupé with the AMG GT 43. The combination of a relatively lightweight four-cylinder engine on the front axle and pure rear-wheel drive makes the new model an agile cornering artist with extremely dynamic handling and a lot of driving fun.

The AMG 2.0-litre turbo engine delivers 310 kW (421 hp) and generates a maximum torque of 500 Nm. What is special is the electric exhaust gas turbocharger, a technology from Formula 1™. This form of charging guarantees particularly spontaneous responses across the entire speed range. The new AMG GT 43 offers an even more dynamic driving experience and at the same time increased efficiency. The turbocharger is operated via the 48-volt on-board electrical system, which also feeds the belt-driven starter generator. This briefly delivers an additional boost of 10 kW (14 hp). The second generation also functions as a mild hybrid in the 48-volt on-board electrical system, which, in addition to the temporary boost in performance, also enables functions such as coasting and recuperation for even greater efficiency. The 48-volt technology also increases comfort, as the transitions between the start-stop and coasting functions are almost imperceptible.

"Our AMG GT family is at the top of our portfolio and embodies the spirit of our brand: Driving Performance. We are therefore delighted that this family is now growing to include the GT 43. It is clearly recognisable as a GT but is clearly different from the other models. It appeals to customers who love design and focus on elegance but are unwilling to compromise on driving pleasure and driving dynamics. The rear-wheel drive concept makes the GT 43 a very agile vehicle that will put a smile on your face on winding roads." Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, and Head of Business Units Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Mercedes-Maybach

The performance is commensurate with its status: the AMG GT 43 accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. The top speed is 280 km/h.

Electric exhaust gas turbocharger improves engine response

The AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine in the AMG GT 43 achieves its maximum output of 310 kW (421 hp) at 6,750 rpm. The maximum torque of 500 Nm is available between 3,250 rpm and 5,000 rpm. Depending on the situation, the system also guarantees a short-term additional boost of 10 kW (14 hp) from the belt-driven starter generator (RSG).

The functional principle of the electric exhaust gas turbocharger is based on the same technology that is also used by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. An approximately four-centimetre narrow electric motor is integrated directly on the shaft of the turbocharger, between the turbine wheel on the exhaust side and the compressor wheel on the fresh air side. Electronically controlled, this directly drives the shaft of the turbocharger and thus accelerates the compressor wheel before the exhaust gas flow takes over the conventional drive.

This significantly improves the response behaviour right from idle speed and across the entire speed range. The combustion engine reacts even more spontaneously to accelerator pedal commands, and the overall driving experience is more dynamic. In addition, the electrification of the turbocharger enables higher torque at low speeds. This also increases agility and optimises the ability to accelerate from a standstill. Even when the driver releases the accelerator or brakes, the technology of the e-turbocharger maintains the boost pressure at all times. This ensures continuous, direct response.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission with wet starting clutch and rear wheel drive

In the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission (MCT = Multi-Clutch Transmission), a wet starting clutch replaces the torque converter. It reduces weight and, thanks to its lower mass inertia, optimises the response to accelerator pedal commands, especially when sprinting and when changing loads. The elaborately co-ordinated software ensures short switching times and quick multiple downshifts. In addition, the double-declutching function in the "Sport" and "Sport+" driving programmes delivers a particularly emotional shifting experience. The RACE START function is also applied, which guarantees optimal acceleration from a standstill.

Active aerodynamics to increase dynamics and efficiency

The active air control system AIRPANEL is a technical highlight for improving aerodynamics. The horizontal slats behind the upper air inlet can be opened and closed under electronic control. This means that the air flow is directed as needed and thus improves aero performance.

Normally the slats are closed - even at top speed. This position reduces air resistance. Only when certain temperatures have been reached on predefined components and the cooling air requirement is particularly high do the fins open and allow maximum cooling air to flow to the heat exchangers. This requires highly intelligent and fast control.

The same applies to another active component of aerodynamics: the extendable rear spoiler, which is seamlessly integrated into the vehicle silhouette. It changes its position depending on the driving condition. The control software takes numerous parameters into account: It includes the driving speed, the longitudinal and lateral acceleration, and the steering speed in the calculation. From speeds of 80 km/h, the spoiler adopts five different angular positions to either optimise driving stability or reduce air resistance.

Chassis with multi-link front axle and lightweight construction measures

As standard, the AMG GT 43 is equipped with the AMG steel spring suspension with particularly high-performance aluminium shock absorbers and lightweight coil springs. A special feature is the multi-link front axle with five links that are arranged completely within the rim. This significantly improves the kinematics. A 5-link space construction also guides the wheels on the rear axle.

To reduce the unsprung masses, all suspension arms, steering knuckles, and wheel carriers on the front and rear axles of the new GT are made of forged aluminium. The spatial control concept guides each wheel with the slightest elastic movements.

The high camber and track stiffness not only enables high cornering speeds, but it also gives the driver optimal road contact in the high corner limit area. This is reflected in excellent lateral dynamics and driving stability at high speeds as well as in the good-natured reaction to external influences such as crosswinds, bumps, or changes in the coefficient of friction.

The lightweight coil springs reduce chassis weight without reducing performance. During the manufacturing process, the spring pad is glued to the spring. This solid connection prevents wear and tear caused by dirt such as sand over the course of the vehicle's life. The spring does not corrode over its life cycle and the maximum component load can be increased with less weight. This saves around 0.2 kilograms per spring.

Another lightweight construction measure concerns the torsion bar stabilisers on the front and rear axles of the AMG GT 43. Thanks to variable wall thickness, their weight can be reduced. The maximum wall thickness is only used where it is required due to the maximum load - in this case in the area of the rubber bearings.

The latest generation of adaptive damping AMG RIDE CONTROL is available as an option for the AMG GT 43. The chassis control unit uses data analysis - including from acceleration and wheel path sensors - to adapt the damping force for each wheel to suit the situation in just a few milliseconds. The driver can preselect the basic setting using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes: at the touch of a button, the driving behaviour changes, for example, from full dynamics in "Sport+" mode to quiet gliding in the "Comfort" setting. In addition, the tuning of the AMG RIDE CONTROL chassis can be adjusted in three stages using a dedicated button, regardless of the driving programme.

AMG high-performance composite brake system for short braking distances

The AMG high-performance composite brake system guarantees excellent deceleration values and precise control. Internally ventilated and perforated brake discs measuring 390 x 36 mm with six-piston fixed callipers are mounted on the front axle, while on the rear axle they are sized 360 x 26 mm with single-piston floating callipers. The system impresses with short braking distances, sensitive response behaviour and, last but not least, high stability and service life - even under extreme stress. The convenience functions include hill start assist as well as pre-filling and dry braking in wet conditions. When the ignition is switched off and the vehicle is stationary, the parking position "P" is also activated. When driving off, the electric parking brake releases automatically.

The composite brake discs are particularly light: driving dynamics and steering behaviour benefit from the reduced unsprung masses. Brake disc (made of cast steel) and brake pot (made of aluminium) are connected with special pins. This design saves space and supports brake cooling. The directional perforation offers further advantages: It saves weight and improves heat dissipation. In addition, this solution scores with faster response in wet conditions and better pad cleaning after braking.

Optional rear-axle steering combines agility and stability

If desired, the AMG GT 43 can be equipped with active rear axle steering (HAL). Depending on the speed, the rear wheels steer either in the opposite direction (up to 100 km/h) or in the same direction (faster than 100 km/h) as the front wheels. The system therefore enables both agile and stable driving behaviour. The translation of the front wheel steering is more direct, which means the vehicle can be steered more easily at the limit with less steering effort.

Six driving programmes and AMG DYNAMICS: from comfortable to dynamic

The five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes "Smooth", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport +" and "Individual" as well as the "RACE" included in the optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package enable a wide range of vehicle characteristics from comfortable to dynamic. The individual driving programmes offer an individual driving experience, precisely tailored to different driving conditions. As a feature as part of the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes, the GT models also have AMG DYNAMICS. This integrated vehicle dynamics control expands the stabilising functions of the ESP® with agile interventions in the steering characteristic curve and in additional ESP® functions. When cornering dynamically, for example, a brief brake intervention on the inside rear wheel creates a defined yaw moment around the vertical axis for spontaneous and precise steering.

AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package for maximum driving pleasure

The AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package is optionally available for the AMG GT 43, which bundles numerous high-performance components:
  • Dynamic AMG engine mounts connect the engine to the body more rigidly or more flexibly, depending on the driving situation. In every driving situation, this results in the best possible balance between driving dynamics and comfort.
  • The electronically controlled AMG rear axle locking differential distributes the required power to the wheels even more promptly and precisely during dynamic cornering and rapid acceleration, thus guaranteeing maximum traction.
  • The "RACE" driving programme delivers racetrack performance at the push of a button with even more spontaneous engine response and the more direct accelerator pedal characteristic. Can be selected as an additional driving programme using the AMG steering wheel buttons.
  • The active aerodynamic element, which is hidden in the underbody in front of the engine, contributes to sportier driving behaviour. This carbon profile is an exclusive AMG development and protected by patents. It reacts to the position of the AMG driving programmes and automatically extends downwards by around 40 millimetres at a speed of 80 km/h. This creates the so-called Venturi effect, which additionally sucks the car onto the road and reduces the lift on the front axle.
  • The yellow painted AMG brake calipers visually underline the increased driving dynamics potential.
  • The rigid rear wing can be booked as an option. It is mounted on the trunk lid and provides even more downforce on the rear axle.
Puristic model with elegant distinguishing features in the exterior design

The exterior design of the AMG GT 43 differs from the rest of the AMG family in many details. Particularly striking is the newly designed front apron with large air inlets across the entire width of the vehicle. The narrower front and rear fenders and the reduced track width emphasise the elegant character. There is also a new trim part for the front fenders. The rear apron, which has also been modified, as well as round instead of trapezoidal double tailpipe trims on the left and right characterise the rear view.

The characteristic features of the AMG GT body shape include the long wheelbase, the short overhangs, the long hood, the rear-seat passenger compartment with a steeply sloping windshield and the powerful rear. This results in the typical GT proportions. They give the coupé its powerful, dynamic appearance - together with the wheels that are flush with the outer skin. The AMG GT 43 rolls on 19-inch light-alloy wheels as standard. Other variants with a diameter of 19 or 20 inches are available as an option. There are also forged wheels measuring 21 inches.

The large EASY PACK tailgate including the HANDSFREE ACCESS function makes loading and unloading easier. The optional offer of 2+2 seats increases suitability for everyday use and offers a very good amount of space for travellers and their luggage. If necessary, the luggage compartment can be noticeably expanded using the foldable rear seat backrest.

AMG GT equipment range: great variety for an individual appearance

With the details of its extensive standard equipment as well as many additional options available, the AMG GT 43 offers a wide range of customisation for different customer requirements - from sporty and dynamic to elegant. There are three exterior design packages to choose from to further sharpen the look in the direction of elegance or dynamism:
  • The AMG exterior chrome package includes elegant accents in high-gloss chrome on the front apron, the front fenders and in the side sill panels.
  • In the AMG Night Package, selected exterior elements are finished in high-gloss black, such as the front splitter, the trim strip in the side sill panels, the exterior mirror housings and the window line trim strips. There are also round double tailpipe trims in black chrome and heat-insulating, dark-tinted glass for the rear windows. Depending on the paint chosen, striking contrasts or flowing transitions result.
  • The AMG Night Package II also includes additional elements in black chrome, including radiator trim struts, typography, and a Mercedes star at the rear.
Interior with "hyper-analogue" cockpit and comfort seats as standard

The interior of the Mercedes-AMG GT 43 also features an exciting combination of analogue geometry and the digital world. The designers call this "hyper-analogue." This is exemplified by the fully digital instrument cluster, which is integrated into a three-dimensional visor. The appearance can be personalised with individually selectable main views. Despite its symmetry, the cockpit design creates a clear focus on the driver.

The centre console flows into the lower area of the instrument panel. The functional and visual centre is the 11.9-inch multimedia touchscreen. The portrait format offers clear advantages, especially for navigation, as well as more ergonomic freedom. The MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system is intuitive to use and capable of learning. It offers extensive AMG-specific content in five display styles. Exclusive menu items such as "AMG Performance" or "AMG TRACK PACE" underline the sporty character.

The AMG GT 43 is equipped as standard with a variety of electrically and manually adjustable AMG sports seats in Nappa leather. The same applies to the optional AMG performance seats with their sculptural design, integrated headrests and increased lateral support. The optionally available upholstery from the MANUFAKTUR customisation program provides a particularly exclusive touch. There are three colours to choose from here. The MANUFAKTUR interior package is available in seven colour combinations.

In addition to the standard high-gloss black, the decorative elements are also available in aluminium or carbon as well as in MANUFAKTUR chrome black. There are also two decorative parts: grey open-pore birch wood and brown open-pore ash ship deck wood with aluminium strips. The AMG performance steering wheel with optional steering wheel heating is available in Nappa leather, Nappa leather/microfibre
