Yea, the 720S and its derivatives are very desirable. I wonder if the 765LT is faster than the P1 now. These cars do depreciate very quickly. They could still be quite pricey though.

There's nothing more expensive than a cheap supercar.

McLaren Customer Racing has confirmed that an unrestricted version of its 720S GT3 race car, the McLaren 720S GT3X, is available to order through the McLaren Motorsport Retailer Network. Designed and developed in-house by the motorsport arm of McLaren Automotive, the GT3X is for track use only but is not homologated for any racing class or championship. Without the need to comply with competition regulations, increased levels of power and performance have allowed McLaren Customer Racing to further exploit the chassis and aerodynamic characteristics of its latest-specification, race-winning 720S GT3 to optimise circuit driving enjoyment.

Pioneering in the field of lightweight and safety in motorsport, McLaren introduced the first all-carbon fibre chassis to Formula 1 in 1981 with the McLaren MP4/1. Since then, carbon fibre has been at the core of every McLaren and the 720S GT3X features the MonoCage II chassis that provides a strong, light and safe environment for its occupants.

Performance comes from a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine, optimised to combine features from the 720S road car and the 720S GT3 race car. Coupled to a six-speed sequential motorsport transmission, a unique version of the M840T engine features a blueprinted cylinder head, strengthened pistons, 'Diamond Like Carbon' (DLC) coating and a lightweight performance exhaust system. The track-focused components and systems deliver the same 720PS (710bhp) as the road car, with a further 30PS (30bhp) boost function available to the driver through a steering wheel-mounted 'push-to-pass' button.

The lightweight McLaren 720S GT3X tips the scales at just 1,210kg (2,668lbs) and displays the extreme weight-saving efforts that have been taken into consideration to remove all non-essential or luxury items where possible, leaving the driver with just what they need to extract the best performance. Each of these measures combine to give the 720S GT3X a power-to-weight ratio of 620PS-per-tonne.

The development programme has seen a focus on pure engineering, innovative aerodynamics and efficient design, with thousands of track kilometres covered across Europe and the Middle East. Freed from sporting regulations, the McLaren 720S GT3X is a performance-optimised version of the already-bespoke GT3 race car, with the bodywork's flowing lines developed using 'Computational Fluid Dynamics' (CFD) and Formula 1 wind tunnel technology. The aerodynamically sculpted shape is hand-finished in metallic MSO Carbon Black paint. A refined pinstripe in heritage McLaren Orange - a nod to the historic race-winning McLaren Formula 1 cars of the 1960s - accentuates the lower edges of the ground-hugging body shape and the outer rim of the gloss black centre-locking wheel rims, while an 'X' graphic stretches across the upper canopy.

The stripped-out cabin features extensive use of lightweight carbon fibre and is designed around outright track performance and functionality. A carbon fibre and Kevlar FIA-approved race seat hugs the driver, while the pedal box and steering wheel adjust to ensure the perfect driving position. The ergonomically-designed race steering wheel is fitted with all key functions via intuitive rotary switches and buttons meaning everything is at the driver's fingertips. Thrill-seeking friends can also experience the speeds and exhilaration of being on a track as the interior of the 720S GT3X has been designed to accommodate a fully safety-compliant race seat on the passenger side of the cabin, complete with six-point race harness. Modifications over the race car include a revised design to the roll-cage to accommodate a passenger without compromising on safety and enhanced crash structures around the occupant safety cell.

In addition to delivering a new type of performance on the track, the McLaren 720S GT3X delivers a new level of ownership experience. As part of the purchase and ownership package, McLaren Automotive can provide dedicated technical track support for each owner. This programme is carried out by the customer support engineers from the in-house McLaren Customer Racing division - the team that has designed and developed the model alongside the 720S GT3 global customer race program.

"Due to GT3 balance of performance requirements, the 720S GT3 car has to run with a considerably reduced power output than the road-going 720S Spider and Coupe variants. The brief for the GT3X project was to unleash the full potential of the 720S GT3 car using a massively increased power output to fully exploit the aerodynamics and chassis dynamics of the car. Additionally, the car is now able to carry passengers for the first time, thanks to the re-design of a new bespoke roll-cage and passenger seat installation. Brake cooling has also been improved to cope with the additional demands of increased speed and the mass of a passenger.

The McLaren 720S GT3X now offers a unique opportunity to experience a fully-fledged GT3 car. The lap time is significantly reduced from the GT3 benchmark through both the huge standard power increase and the additional 30bhp from the push-to-pass button. The end result is a car that offers a truly unique experience." Ian Morgan, Director, McLaren Customer Racing

The McLaren 720S GT3X is available to order now from the 11 official McLaren Motorsport Retailers worldwide: McLaren Glasgow, McLaren Zurich, McLaren Frankfurt, McLaren Beverly Hills, McLaren Houston, McLaren Newport Beach, McLaren Philadelphia, McLaren San Francisco, McLaren Toronto, McLaren Auckland and McLaren Melbourne. Each retailer can also offer technical and servicing support for the track-only model.

That's a bit different in that it's a through and through race car that's not legal for the road. Not just a stripped down version of the road car that they charge more for.

https://www.netcarshow.com/mclaren/2022-765lt_spider/

Renowned worldwide for the exclusive, luxury, high-performance supercars on which it has built its reputation over the past decade, McLaren Automotive revealed another landmark model: the 765LT Spider.

Complementing the 765LT 'Longtail' coupe unveiled last year - all of which are sold - the new Spider is McLaren's most powerful-ever convertible supercar and brings highest-ever levels of driver engagement to the McLaren LT experience. Engineered in addition with the other core attributes intrinsic to any McLaren Longtail - minimised weight, track-focused dynamics and optimised aerodynamics - the McLaren 765LT Spider has all of the class-leading abilities of the coupe and also meets the LT demand for exclusivity: just 765 cars will be available globally for customer order.

Carrying over the coupe's dynamic and aerodynamic DNA with no structural compromise and only a minimal 49kg weight increase - primarily from the retractable hard top and accompanying operating mechanism - the 765LT Spider weighs in at just 1,388kg (DIN weight), which is 80kg lighter than a 720S Spider and circa 100kg lighter than its closest comparable competitor.

The electrically operated, one-piece carbon fibre Retractable Hard Top (RHT) enables open-top motoring in just 11 seconds and operates at speeds of up to 50km/h, bringing the dramatic soundtrack of the quad-exit titanium exhaust system into the cabin to take driver engagement into another dimension.

"As we continue to build the LT sub-brand with the introduction of the new 765LT Spider, it's clear that our customers are increasingly attracted to the Longtail supercar proposition of exhilarating, extreme performance and limited availability. With all 765 examples of the 765LT coupe sold, it's no surprise that as we publicly announce our new LT Spider, production capacity for 2021 is already filled." Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive

The immense performance and dynamic prowess of the new Spider - already proven in the 765LT coupe - are enhanced by three compelling factors: the stability of its MonoCage II-S structure, the game-changing design of its one-piece Retractable Hard Top roof, and the ongoing determination of McLaren engineers to pursue the company's philosophy of super-lightweight engineering.

The Spider version of the carbon fibre MonoCage II - designated MonoCage II-S - was developed alongside the coupe monocoque and shares most of its structural elements, including the windscreen surround. Such is the strength and stiffness of the structure that no additional bracing is required over the coupe - another weight-optimising factor. At the rear of the car, carbon fibre structural supports are fully bonded into the chassis to provide rollover protection.

The convertible roof design plays an integral role in the structure, featuring a carbon fibre frame within the Retractable Hard Top panel and creating a full carbon fibre shell when closed. There are also additional comfort benefits for occupants - because it is a single-piece panel with no central seal, headroom is improved, while the extended length of the roof panel allows the tops of the A-pillars to be further forward, enhancing the sense of space and easing ingress and egress.

Like every LT, the new Spider is designed to excel on track, however the extra dimension of theatre and drama offered by the convertible roof also makes it an even more immersive and compelling car to drive on the road. With the same highly evolved aerodynamic package as the coupe - although with active rear wing calibration revised to reflect whether the roof is up or down and a recalibration of the dampers to account for the minor increase in weight - the Spider matches the coupe's outstanding aero performance in every respect, with class-leading downforce 25% greater than that of a 720S Spider.

Performance is ferocious, the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 765PS - giving the McLaren 765LT Spider a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 598PS-per-tonne at lightest dry weight - and 800Nm of torque. Transmission gear ratios have been revised for even greater engagement and performance; in-gear acceleration is 15% quicker than a 720S Spider, helping the new Longtail to achieve the fastest lap times ever posted by a convertible LT model.

The 0-100km/h time often seen as a benchmark figure is 2.8 seconds (0-60mph is 2.7 seconds), with 0-200km/h (124mph) taking 7.2 seconds. The new LT Spider takes 10.0 seconds to cover 400m (¼ mile) from standstill and the car's maximum speed is 330km/h (205mph).

"A McLaren 'Longtail' is engineered to deliver not only incredible performance but also the highest levels of driver engagement. The 765LT coupe set new benchmarks in maximising a driver's connection with the car and the Spider builds on this, adding the additional engagement factor of open-air driving to give direct access to the scintillating sound of the titanium exhaust - a pleasure that thanks to the electrically operated rear window can also be enjoyed with the retractable roof in place." Jamie Corstorphine, Director of Product Strategy, McLaren Automotive

The most powerful McLaren convertible ever and the latest and most engaging addition to the brand's Longtail lineage can be ordered now from McLaren retailers. Pricing is from £310,500 and availability is limited to just 765 cars for customer order worldwide, with 2021 production already all sold.

With financial setbacks and manufacturer recalls, McLaren has had a tough time lately. By contrast, McLaren's F1 team has a lot to celebrate, despite Lando Norris failing to reach the podium at last weekend's Russian Grand Prix after qualifying in pole position. At the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, McLaren achieved its first Grand Prix win since 2012, achieving a one-two finish led by Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris.

To celebrate this historic victory, McLaren Special Operations revealed a new special-edition version of the McLaren 720S with unique design cues inspired by Ricciardo's race-winning F1 car.

Dubbed the McLaren Daniel Ricciardo Edition 720S, the limited-edition Super Series is finished in the Papaya Spark and Burton Blue colors used on the McLaren Formula 1 2021 MCL35M race car. As a nod to Riccardo's racing number, the special 720S is limited to just three examples. Ricciardo's race number 3 is etched on the doors and the side sills are inscribed with the driver's signature. The Australian flag also adorns the front haunches.

"Daniel Ricciardo's relentless determination and pursuit of excellence are qualities that perfectly reflect the McLaren ethos," said George Biggs, commercial executive director at McLaren Automotive. "

"Following McLaren's outstanding performance with a landmark one-two finish for the team at the Italian Grand Prix, it's the perfect time to reveal this limited series in celebration of the Aussie driver. The 720S is a fitting model to celebrate Daniel's achievements and we're delighted to see it adorned with the Australian flag crafted by MSO."

Mechanically, the Daniel Ricciardo Edition is identical to the regular 720S, which is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that producing 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. If you want to own one, you'll need to move to Australia because the McLaren Daniel Ricciardo Edition 720S will only be available at McLaren's Sydney and Melbourne dealerships when it arrives in Q4, 2021.

Purchasing a McLaren must be a truly special affair. But at just under $300,000 for the 720S, this is an experience reserved for the world's 1%. Affixed to a hefty price tag, the British supercar is set to remain a highly exclusive product but, if you feel the need to heighten the rarity, the brand's MSO (McLaren Special Operations) department is on-hand to make your wildest dreams come true.

The in-house bespoke service will go to great lengths to please a customer, with makeup mogul Jeffree Star recently taking delivery of his custom, pink-painted 765LT. The specialist department's latest creation is equally as unique. Canadian McLaren importer Pfaff Automotive Partners has placed an order for 10 limited edition 720S supercars, known as the Canada 10th Anniversary MSO 1/10.

As you would have undoubtedly gleaned from the lengthy title, the limited-run model will be an homage to the brand's history, but also a celebration of the marque's 10th anniversary in the Canadian market. Just one color option is available; MSO's Pure Black finish with a Stealth-painted wheel. This unique color combo is a nod to the first-ever 12C sold to our Northern neighbors.

Additionally, the Canadian specialties will also receive the brand's Stealth and MSO Black packages. Spider derivatives are privy to the electrochromatic glazed roof. The dark exterior design is enlivened by McLaren Orange accents; a reference to the brand's racing history in Canada. Other style-enhancing features include touches from MSO, such as the painted stripe, replete with a maple leaf graphic. This is repeated on the underside of the rear wing as well.

Inside, it's a similar story. The Canada 10th Anniversary receives plenty of standard equipment, including power-operated and heated seats, a Bowers and Wilkins audio system, carbon-fiber interior trim, and several other nice-to-haves. The cabin trim mirrors that of the exterior, with McLaren Orange Alcantara coating the roof lining, seats, steering wheel, and door trim. MSO contrast stitching can also be seen, along with MSO logos, on the headrests.

Just ten examples will be made available to Canadian consumers, with three Coupes and seven Spiders. Aside from an interior-mounted MSO dedication plaque, owners will also receive a unique Canadian McLaren heritage book celebrating the brand's history in Canada, along with a trunk-fitted special options plaque. While rare, it's still not as scarce as the Daniel Ricciardo Edition 720S; just three were ever made.
