Mazda: RX-7 News
This is an update to a previous thread I started about the next RX7:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been close to a decade since the last RX-7 was produced. Feast your eyes on the picture below. What you see is a never before seen picture of the new RX-7. The famous rotary engine will be used but they will be doing a full upgrade to produce more horsepower. The design of the car, shown below, looks a lot different from the last generation RX-7 but it still retains certain styling cues.
The new engine in development should produce over 280hp -- well in competition range for the 350Z. The new engine might have a new type of rotary system. Suspension and frame may also be borrowed from the RX-8. The competition is ready, but now it's Mazda's turn to show the public the potential of the new RX-7.

To do it 'right', the Rx-7 should be on a version of the Miata platform, obviously modified to accomodate a rotary and hatch. Let the Rx-8 cater to the GT buyers; the Rx-7 should be a pure sports coupe.

Can we get a another "what the Supra will look like" thread going as well... i've only seen 20+ CGI's of the new supra as well...
It's been so many years, and so many of these threads. I'm so over the *speculation* either build it or stop talking about it...

RX-7 = two seats
The numbers didn't change because they were moving forward they changed to represent a different "type" of vehicle.

You know what? to your post. While the Z32, GTO and even MKIV Supra look dated now, the FD3S looks ageless. Mazda could easily give it some 21st century updates (integrated projector HID headlamps/fogs, LED tails, Navi, Bluetooth, RX8 seats, complete SRS, VDC, etc,...) and resell this in limited production.
