Opening a new world for the minivan
Mazda, creator of the RX-8 and MX-5 Roadster, brings its flair for innovation to the minivan category. With dynamic performance that far exceeds the conventional minivan. First-class quality and comfort to satisfy all the senses. And sophisticated styling that tells of the owner's discrimination and taste. This is our vision of a new world for the minivan with the highest levels of performance and packaging - a vehicle designed for those who truly know the minivan.

Innovative Performance
The pure joy of driving. Driving pleasure is a major development aim for the all-new Mazda MPV.
This means providing the spirited, dynamic performance typical of Mazda DNA combined with the sheer practicality of a spacious, flexible interior. The newly-developed direct injection MZR 2.3L DISI* turbo engine delivers the powerful, linear torque and instant response vital to thrilling acceleration. And the high-rigidity body and new suspension system complement the high-power engine with sporty Mazda handling that is also reassuringly stable. Further supporting vehicle controllability is confident, linear stopping power from the new brake system.
*Direct Injection Spark Ignition.

Relaxing comfort and quality
Large sliding doors mounted on both sides give easy entry and exit, and make loading luggage a breeze. Opening them reveals a wide space packed with quality and comfort. Second-row seats slide laterally allowing use as either two captain's seats or a bench seat. Their large size and extra-long front-rear slide offer more comfort. Newly-developed, optional second-row Super-Relax seats include a large head restraint with swing mechanism and an ottoman to give genuine first-class comfort. The third row seat, too, is larger and offers more legroom assuring everyone of greater comfort.

Sophisticated functions
The new Mazda MPV is a concrete expression of Mazda's unique craftsmanship devoted to the Zoom-Zoom spirit. Details such as the 3D blackout meters which project a graphical image onto flat lenses creating three-dimensional depth within the meter cluster heighten the pleasure of driving. And the timing of the indirect LED cabin lighting and illumination for the 3D blackout meters is tied to the driver actions of opening the door, sitting down and turning the ignition key. It all adds to the driver's sense of anticipation of the excitement to come. What's more, indirect lighting at night further enhances the cabin's spacious feeling and makes the dashboard wing appear to float in the air. Once on the road, Mazda MPV offers advanced driver support functions such as the Adaptive Front Lighting System that swivels the headlights low beams according to steering angle to increase visibility round curves at night. Unparalleled driving pleasure, comfort beyond the class, functionality at the service of operability, and quality in every detail the all-new Mazda MPV sets a new benchmark for minivan values.

Nice. Looks smaller than the Ody, Quest and Sienna which is IMO perfect. I think I'd take this over one of those.

Nice, but with the Mazda 5 now in the line-up, why is the MPV still a "smaller" mini-van compared to Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, & Nissan?

Bad move. They should have upsized this van.
It's a niche van in both the van overall size and the engine size.

Very nice. The reclining second row seats have been something that I thought the luxury jumbo SUVs would offer; but never in a minivan. but now that I see it in a minivan it makes just as much sense. The gauges look awesome.

I don't think it's that much smaller than the Ody and Sienna now. The current one is definitely smaller, but this one looks like it has grown in size. I think it's the design that makes it look compact.

nice. the mpv has always been the 'smaller' minivan and i think its great that they stick with it. i know quite a few people who want a minivan but are turned off by how big they've become.

and the mazda5 only seats 6 people max i think

wow. The front looks like a Fusion meet GL-Class. The back looks like they tried to incorporate the RX-8's bumper. Looks nice. I like the ambient lighting.

JDM advertising always has attractive white chicks. I've never seen a girl like that in my real life. Go to Mazda, Nissan, or Toyota's Japan-market websites.

Leonardo DiCaprio is pushing Eclipse Spyders in Japan.

Nice!!! Looks like that has the potential to be the replacement minivan for our aging 2000 Quest. I just hope the 2.3L DISI's output is the same as the MS6.

....and I love the center row buckets with the fold out leg rests.

And once we're sick of their goofiness, the Japanese will still listen to their every word.

Japanese don't believe me when I tell them the truth about Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, etc

Don't count on it. Should make as much as the CX7. 244/256 I think. I presume this will be available in AWD?

My Mom rocks an 05 MPV and that thing is great. It has a body Kit, leather, sunroof, sat radio, dvd player, flip down screens, headsrest screens.......It's such a nice van. This new one has a little Nissan Quest front end styling, but it looks great and will sell well.

too bad we probably won't see that iteration of the mpv. From what I've read we'll probably end up seeing the bulky cx-9 instead.
