It looks so much sleaker than the Quest, Sienna (saw one right up close just the other day... that shit is huger than I thought) and the soon to be inflated Odyssey. If they stick to the styling that blue one is portraying... that shit's gonna be successful as hell.
-Just looked through the pictures of the blue one again. That's a damned sexy minivan yo.

It doesn't go against the odyssey, it small sized/priced minivan that honda seems to neglect. You can't get an ody for near under 25 freaking k, how the hell is that a family vehicle? What is the point of raising the price point of a minivan beyond families? Oh for quality, so we all need 250+hp etc, umm no, just think about the rest of the honda line.

Honday Odyssey Touring .... not need for Acura, and yes it's selling like hotcakes. Fortunately the Sienna tested out the $40K US market for minivans
The Mazda design team is showing once again they are all aces. This is a sharp looking "minivan" .... interior pics will be the key as I haven't been a fan of the interior shells of the latest Mazda's.

What people need is SPACE. Families need space. Sure ... it's nice to seat 7, but you have to have room for luggage or it's completely useless and might as well say 5-seater. Seriously something to consider. I am not saying Honda couldn't score with a small people carrier only type van, but IMHO it would be a huge risk.

Umm yea, 255hp, yes it may 'feel' damn good, but need is another issue. Its so ridiculous that a company would have all their family vans priced above $25k.

Different strokes for different folks ... if there is a market bring on the new mini-mini-van, but I think it would find itself looking a lot like the new small SUV's and wagons ... which by the way Honda needs to bring the TSX wagon

Here is a link to see a lot more pics of this biatch:
http://www.channel4.com/4car/gallery...w_page_16.html
I think it looks sweet, and I am not terribly crazy about the current crop of minivans, man if they could make this puppy with a bit better engine, sounds like fun with a 6 sp. the interior pics seems to show it as being quite roomy. I think Acura should go for a luxury minivan, why not be the first to do it..., something styled like this Mazda but bigger, hybrid w/ 300 total HP, and SH-AWD, throw in the requisite leather and other hi end goodies and it would sell.
Happy New Year,
B.
Now back to lurking about more info on the RDX.

Definitely gotta' give props to Mazda for turning things around in Japan and Europe - looks like US consumers still need to catch up. I almost bought a Mazda6. Let's hope some of their recent designs trickles down to domestic Ford products, not holding my breath though. It will be interesting to see how the 5 sells here stateside.
FRV looks interesting too - if it had AWD and was competitive in price - would definitely have purchased it over the CRV I just got - CRV interior is plain dreadfull.

Got da Internet Goin Nutz
Saw a Mazda5 at the dealership a couple of days ago. Looked damn good. Kinda like a taller mazda6 wagon with 7 seats. They had Navi too and even then the price was cheap as hell. I'm not in the market for a minivan but this one has some potential

I saw one on Saturday but didn't drive it because my mother-in-law couldn't afford it. I was all over this thing. I sat in all the rows and the space is awesome. I'm 5'9 215 but I had pleny of space. The controls seemed user-friendly and the car doesn't sit too high. It looks like a stretched 3. They had them only in auto with a 6CD changer for like $19,400 which was MSRP. No negotiating them. Oh and she did end up with an 05 MPV which is a nice looking van too.

Recall

Mazda5 recalled for fire hazard
Exhaust system heat could start a fire; company replaces cars with loaners and rentals.
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Mazda Motor Corp. has halted the sale and production of selected 2006 Mazda5 vehicles because a potential heat buildup in the exhaust system could start a fire.
The recall affects about 5,500 vehicles, 2,700 of which have been sold or are still in dealer lots, according to Jeremy Barnes, Mazda's product communications manager.
Three instances of fire have been reported, with no injuries, a company statement said. Mazda said customers will receive a formal recall notification at a later date.
Mazda notified dealers and suspended sales of the vehicles on September 16, the company . The company was first made aware of the issue when a problem was reported in August. Three instances of fire have occurred in all.
"We have asked customers to bring vehicles back and asked dealers to alert customers," said Barnes, adding that Mazda will exchange the faulty vehicles for a loaner vehicles at no cost while the company develops a remedy and makes repairs.
Production of the vehicle in North America has also been suspended while the company investigates the incidents, the company said.
Owners should contact Mazda at 1-800-222-5500 for more information.

Mazda unveils restyled Mazda5...
From Leftlanenews...
Mazda has released photos of its redesigned Premacy–better known as the Mazda5 in the United States. The redesign, which stylistically brings the 5 more inline with the rest of the Mazda lineup, features a revised front fascia and integrated LED indicators in the side mirrors.
The interior receives only minor changes with new fabric colors available. A revised suspension promises a better ride than the previous-generation car while still improving overall handling.
European buyers can choose from either a gasoline 1.8 liter or 2.0, as well as a diesel 2.0 liter. Gasoline engines are mated to a 5-speed automatic with the diesel using a 6-speed manual. All cars will be front-wheel drive. Engine options for North America have yet to be announced, but it is expected that only a 2.3 liter gasoline four-cylinder will be offered in the U.S. market.

The sizzle in the Steak
Ahead of its official release next month at the Geneva Motor Show, Mazda released images and basic details on the redesigned 2011 version of its popular Mazda5 mini-minivan.
The new Mazda5 – sold as the Premacy in Japan – gets Mazda’s new Nagare-inspired front fascia, which visually links it with the Mazda3 and Mazda6, as well as the recently-refreshed Miata. Out back, the Mazda5 is a bit more conventional than its predecessor and appears to be larger, although Mazda has yet to release specifics for either the North American or global market variations.
Inside, it gets a revised interior with trim bits similar to those in the Mazda3. The center seat is now convertible to a storage space and passenger room is said to be up throughout, but again Mazda did not release numbers.
Underneath its new hood, the Mazda5 gains a revised direct-injection 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed manual transmission. European-specification Mazda5s will gain Mazda’s i-stop, which turns off the engine when the vehicle is stopped to save fuel and reduce emissions by 20 percent. A 1.8-liter gas engine will also be available for the European market, although it won’t likely reach North America.
Look for the revised Mazda Mazda5 to go on sale next fall in North America.

Is Mazda going to put that goofy smile grille on every car in their lineup?!?!
