Lincoln: MKX news **2016 Revealed (page 4)**

looks better. but TOO different. you wonder if the first gen had enough brand recognition that lincoln shouldve kept the name "MKX".
in the perspective of the car company, they designed a nice redo, but SO much was lost in the transformation. which gives a piss-poor track record for the designers and branding image.
come to think of it, many automakers have been "finding" themselves these days now that consumer opinions have become more open minded. it has been resulting in a LOT of design accidents over the past few years. i could think of so many cars that have this 'blotched generation' amongst its progression over time. just look at the last gen 5 series, its as if BMW forgot it existed!

^^ You gotta be kidding if you think the Lincoln grille is anything like the BMW kidney grille.

It's all about $$$$. Sometimes car-makers will take a big risk.....if it pays off it's HUGE. If it doesn't, you FAIL....but the smart car company will right the ship quickly and change the design, rather than make excuses, and keep on keeping on.

agreed. its still a fail nonetheless, which was the point being made. i had to read what you wrote twice "Smart car company"

When the 300c came out, everyone loved the design despite it being enormous. When the SRT-8 came out, I lusted after it.
Then the new Taurus comes out and I can't get my head around the size and weight of the car.
But, if you look at the two:
The SRT-8 is 197 inches long and weighs 4200lbs
The SHO is 202 inches long and weighs about 4100lbs
Engines aside, the cars are actually pretty close (the SHO has a shorter wheelbase than the SRT-8) and the SHO is AWD.
This isn't to say you're wrong, but I just thought it was something similar to what I had been thinking only to realize it's not as big as it seems.

The interior does look amazing. I wonder how it feels in person.

My only beef is that it shares the same engine with a Ford. Lincoln should have an exclusive higher performance version of Ford's V6 EcoBoost engine.

I'm actually in the middle of finalizing a deal on a new GTI 6spd..basically loaded. I have a long ass commute, so I actually have been renting a car vs. putting mileage and beating on the Jeep. Indeed, for what a rental costs I could buy another car or cheap beater...debating on doing that.
Once I work out the commute situation, the situation will improve. For now, something like the GTI makes sense in more than a few ways.
To the MKX, the new motor is a welcome addition...but the 3.5 liter Ecooboost would have been even nicer. Remember the 3.5 Ecoboost went in the MKS first, then the Flex.
So the engines are shared between the two makes.

A bit thirsty huh, yeah I can relate to that one.

So, you're done with the M3 and Evolution (if I remember correctly)...?

Hasn't really, I added little MKX commentary in between the OT....and I'll do it with this post as well.
The M3 and Evo are long gone as is the Viper, considered a new STI but decided against it.
Personally, I would take the MKX over the new SRX. Prefer the styling inside and out. Giving the business to Ford is just another plus in my book.

Ahem,
SHO: As tested Curb Weight (lb): 4,404
http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...iac-g8-gt.html
If I got a Taurus, the SHO would be the one. Living in the snowbelt, I wouldn't cross shop the SRT-8 as a commuter. Not because I can't drive a RWD in the snow - I just prefer not to. I'd rather have a nicely featured, reasonably fuel-efficient, somewhat sporty commuter (ala TSX) and have a RWD manual shifting funster for the nice weather weekends.

That's a HUGE styling improvement!!! to Ford. As sharp as I think my 09 MDX looks, the new MKX looks MUCH nicer.
Honda: are you watching this?

2011
If you haven't been keeping up with Lincoln, you'd better get current. The brand is breaking all of its old molds, from looks to quality to power and now, efficiency. The 2011 Lincoln MKX's EPA ratings are out, and it's the most efficient midsize crossover in its class.
Stacked up against the Lexus RX350, BMW X5, Audi Q5, Infiniti FX, Volkswagen Touareg, Mercedes-Benz ML350, Acura ZDX, Cadillac SRX, and the Volvo XC70, the 2011 Lincoln MKX comes out 1-5 mpg better in both city and highway performance, and beats all but the 2010 SRX and 2010 RX350 in combined efficiency at 21 mpg--and the MKX ties them, as well.
The MKX is based on the same basic underpinnings as the 2011 Ford Edge, and gets its power from Ford's new 3.7-liter V-6 engine rated at 305 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque--also class-leading figures. The combo of power and efficiency come from dual variable camshaft timing and an "aggressive deceleration fuel shutoff," according to Ford.
The 2011 MKX's styling won't be for everyone, though. The overall silhouette is pleasing--much like the Edge's--but the large, chrome-laden split-wing grille grille lends a snouty, almost beak-like look to the front end. For those that like it, or at least don't mind it, however, the MKX could be a solid value.
It hits the streets for sale in the next few months, with a hybrid version due out this fall.
