The interior looks nice. It has taken somes cues from the TSX, so of course it's nice... :-)

However, the front now reminds me of a Hyundai. The rear reminds me of the Mazda 6. The side profile, esp. the rear window and that upward deflection, reminds me of the Pontiac Grand Prix.... how very sad.

Yea I know what he means, my point is if the JDM Accord already got this feature, we have a pretty good chance of getting one soon, for both TSX and TL.

You'd think so, but Honda does some pretty odd things.

Like the RL gets cooled seats for Canada, but US doesn't. And TSX didn't get heated mirrors in the US, while Canada does (I don't know if that changed yet), but the US RSX received it with the refreshening. TL has bi-xenons, RL has adaptive headlights, but does not have bi-xenons. JDM Inspire has AWD - the TL rides on the same chassis, but still no AWD option on the TL yet. So just because something is present in another model elsewhere, that doesn't necessarily guarantee you'll see it on another model.

2005 Geneva: Lexus finesses next IS sport sedan - - Source: Autoweek

Lexus will give its BMW 3 Series-fighting IS model new sheetmetal and an all-new drivetrain for 2006. Lexus rolled out the second-generation sedan at the Geneva motor show, revealing details of a non-U.S.-market 2.2-liter diesel powerplant, but keeping information on the U.S.-bound 2.5-liter V6 gasoline engine under wraps until the car’s late-March North American debut in New York.

Sources indicate the IS 250’s V6 will produce about 205 hp compared with the current car’s 3.0-liter 215-hp inline six. In New York, Lexus also will announce a 3.5-liter 245-hp V6, but so far there is no indication of a production version of the V8 under the hood of the IS concept LF-C that debuted at last year’s show. IS 250 styling reflects the LF-C concept, although Lexus isn’t likely to offer an IS in the LF-C’s coupe body style.

Either that or a hybrid with a V6 making more than 300 total. If it's a V8 it's probably going to be called the IS460.

Well, since we are talking about the keyless access system. G35 has it, 06' IS has it, 06' 3 series has it, I still can't see why we won't get it for the 06' TSX/TL.

Yea, 05' USDM TSX got heat mirrors, so there you go. I think keyless card is a GO for the 06 model.

245 is a little weak for the 06 entry level market, sounds like the same thing they did with the gs, but maybe it has a 6-speed auto to pick up some slack.

This is all speculation, but the sales manager at a local Lexus dealership told me that the V6 is going to have 310hp...There is no way that they will release a 3.5 liter with 245 hp when the current inline 3 liter has 215hp

From that other thread about Lexus making slight changes to its cars, it seems plausible that 245hp will indeed be the rating initially, and then it'll get bumped halfway through the life cycle.

3.5L with 245hp? If thats true then I don't think I'll be looking at the new IS. I was interested when it was a 3.5L with 300hp or 310hp, but 245hp? ... My 2.2L I4 makes 240hp, and the 2.0L I4 before it made 240hp too ... I would imagine the dyno curve is a lot sweeter on a 3.5L putting out 245hp than my I4, but still ... It almost sounds like an American car's stats. Like the "new" G6

Eh...I think that did it for me. I actually had hopes for this car. If it turns out to be 245hp it will be just another typical Lexus IMO. Underpowered and bland as hell.

Fuck, is Lexus dumb? Of course not, but wtf is up with the 245hp 3.5L V6? We've been promised 280hp for the Avalon and their Lexus IS will get 245?

This could've easily killed the TL but the anemic engine (if true) will really hurt it. But I may be thinking the age of their core demographic to be lower than what it is... it is a Lexus after all. "Old man's car," as they say.

The current IS has the lowest age demographic of any Lexus model. So I don't think they were forgetting that when the IS was getting redesigned.

I still think it's part of their mid-cycle refresh strategy. If sales don't catch on right away, they can easily bump hp.

im not believing autoweek. i just read off is300.net that the 3.0 from the GS could be the only engine or base engine. a 3.5 making 245hp doesnt make sense at all.

it is still bland, but definitely a big improvement. i love the side view the most. it kinda reminds me of the maserati Quattroporte. also, i don't know why some of you guys like the interior so much though. definitely a par with TSX. i actually like the first IS's interior better because it was more fun and original.

You have to take all of the info around these intros with a grain of salt. No, the IS350 will not have 245HP. Plus production is 6 months away and things could still change till then.
US info should become clearer at the NY intro.
Anyone notice something wrong with the gauge cluster ? Hint, gas gauge.

and if this has anything less than 280-300 hp to compare against the g sedan then i won't even consider it... i am starting to really like the g sedan with a 6mt and 298, i really hope lexus makes this a competitor

Toyota sucks at making sense;

The Avalon has a 3.5L 280 HP Engine, The IS a 3.5L 245 HP engine, the GS a 3.0L 245 HP engine. Personally, I think it should be vice versa seeing that'd it make more SENSE! Also, I believe the IS would handle better with the 3.0L (unless they're the same engine, just different displacements).

And 201 HP out of a V6? Come on, Honda get's 220 out of a cheaper i4. Oh, and 240 HP of course out of another 2.0L.

Why am I not surprised. I guess I spoke to soon in complimenting Lexus for around 300HP out of the 3.5L. I like the interior, and rear, don't like the front. But that was enough for me to look at it seriously when it comes out. This news only strengthens my guess that the next car I drive will be the next gen G, which from a power standpoint looks to seriously outgun this 245HP car.

I like what I see in these pictures, but not what they’re saying will be under the hood.
The interior is light years ahead of the crap that Infiniti is putting in their recent offerings.

Maybe Lexus is sandbagging on the V6 HP numbers to make the rumored V8 version look more attractive.
A V8 4WD stick shift in a car that small…..They couldn’t build them fast enough.

shawn, had the 05 g35 over the weekend a few weeks back. It's not as bad as the original release. There is the cheapness in some parts but there many others that really are solid. The layout and very illogical in some areas but over all the car a on a
scale.

Never say never, but you're right with the hybrid idea - they spent a lot of money on hybrid to not use it in many places. I think the diesel idea, if it happens, will start with the mid sized group, like the E320CDi.

I really hope the door is open on that show car - I'll be there tomorrow.

The R and 1/1 are the European marking on the gas gauge (vs. E and F on US cars) but the speedo makes it seem like it's a US car.
